Mastering Lightning from Hogwarts
#47 - New Uses of the Extraction Spell
Immediately afterward, Anduin took out his wand and cast seven or eight 'Scourgify' charms inside the house, followed by 'Aguamenti' to thoroughly rinse the room, leaving no corner untouched, including the walls and ceiling.
After draining the water used to wash the room out the window, he cast several drying charms. After a while of busy work, Anduin was finally somewhat satisfied with the room.
At that moment, Sirius' voice came from downstairs: "Hey, I have to go out for a bit to meet some friends. Just stay here and don't worry. I'll bring back dinner later. If you get too hungry, there are a few Muggle restaurants nearby. There's an Italian place with pretty good pizza. Be careful by yourself and don't let any Muggles see you doing magic."
After Sirius finished speaking, he 'popped' away with a crack, Apparating from the spot.
"Meeting some friends? Probably going to an Order of the Phoenix meeting," Anduin thought, then stopped dwelling on it and continued cleaning the room. After a while, the room finally met Anduin's standards.
Anduin walked downstairs and once again frowned at the state of the house. He also noticed that Sirius had quite a few Muggle appliances, including a refrigerator, a radio, electric lights, and even an oven, probably built into the house. It was a shame there wasn't a TV.
Anduin wandered around the living room on the first floor and couldn't stand the mess any longer. He rolled up his sleeves, ready to thoroughly clean the entire house.
"If you can't even do housework properly, how can you guarantee the will to fight?" Anduin grumbled about Sirius before starting to work.
First, Anduin went to the kitchen, turned on the faucet, and waved his wand. The pots and pans in the sink lined up in the air like soldiers, each one coming to the faucet in turn. Under Anduin's command, they were rinsed clean, then moved to the side to be wiped with a cloth. After cleaning, they were washed again, repeating the process three times, before finally being cleaned with a 'Scourgify' charm.
At the same time, Anduin used 'Aguamenti' to rinse every corner of the kitchen while using cleaning charms to remove stubborn stains. After a long while, the kitchen finally became clean and tidy.
Afterward, Anduin went to the living room and repeatedly used cleaning charms and 'Aguamenti' on the oil-stained and dirty sofa, but the effect was not obvious. The dirt seemed to have merged with the fabric of the sofa.
"So stubborn?" Anduin muttered, stroking his chin and pondering. Suddenly, he thought of a good idea.
Immediately, Anduin pointed his wand at the sofa again, but this time he didn't use a cleaning charm. Instead, he used the 'Extraction Charm' he had learned at Hogwarts, employing unique casting techniques. Under the effect of the spell, the stubborn stains on the sofa were extracted piece by piece.
"I never thought that after learning this spell, I would first use it for cleaning," Anduin thought with a wry smile. Moreover, the effect of this spell was too good. The sofa, after having the stains extracted, looked as clean as new.
Discovering a new use for the Extraction Charm, Anduin repeated the trick, cleaning the carpet, table, and floor on the first floor in turn. This was faster than using cleaning charms. Before long, Anduin had cleaned every corner of the entire first floor and rearranged the furniture, so they were no longer askew.
Afterward, Anduin cleaned Sirius' refrigerator, throwing away all the moldy, unidentifiable objects and running to the nearby Muggle supermarket to restock with food.
"Mission accomplished," Anduin said, looking at the renovated hall, his mood becoming cheerful.
In the evening, around eight o'clock, the Muggle streets outside were empty of pedestrians. The houses were brightly lit, and some were already filled with Christmas decorations. Sirius was carrying a pizza box, strolling leisurely toward home.
Sirius 'bang'-ed open the door, ready to walk in as usual, but suddenly seemed to be startled, backing out of the house. He looked around outside, muttering, "That's right, the outside of the house is mine, but why don't I recognize the inside?"
As if wanting to confirm, he walked into the house again, only to see that all the furniture, carpets, and curtains looked like they had just been bought. The air was filled with a sweet fragrance, and the lights seemed brighter. But none of that was the main thing. Why was there a Christmas tree next to the fireplace in the living room?
The Christmas tree was decorated with small pendants depicting lions, snakes, eagles, and badgers, and a golden star adorned the top. Sirius called out uncertainly, "Anduin?"
A young man walked out of the kitchen, with a pair of dark eyes and black hair that didn't reach his ears, casually spread out. He was wearing an apron and holding a large plate of roast lamb. It was Anduin. He placed the lamb on the clean and tidy dining table with an expressionless face, nonchalantly saying to Sirius, "Ah, you're back. Good news, your oven still works, and it's quite good."
Only then was Sirius completely sure that this was his home. He held his head in his hands, looking at Anduin in disbelief, saying, "What, what did you do to my house? I was only gone for a few hours, how did it become like this? And what's with this Christmas tree?"
Anduin looked at Sirius with a slightly puzzled expression. What, isn't it a good thing that his house is cleaner? But he still replied, "It's nothing. I thought your house was a bit dirty, so I just cleaned it up a bit. As for the tree, I saw an uncle selling it when I was at the supermarket, and I thought you didn't have any Christmas spirit, so I bought one. The decorations are made with Transfiguration, how about it, not bad, right?"
Sirius still felt like he was living in a dream, speechless. "You call this just cleaning it up a bit? You've clearly redecorated my entire house!"
"So, are you going to eat or not?" Anduin asked, untying his apron and sitting at the dining table.
"Eat!"
Sirius could only say fiercely upon seeing this.
"Good, good, delicious, but, I still have to ask, how did you do this?" Sirius asked, stuffing large mouthfuls of lamb into his mouth.
"It's simple. Grind pistachios into nut crumbs, fry the lamb chops until golden brown with butter and rosemary, coat them with nut crumbs, then put them in the oven. I baked them to medium-well, if you want them rarer..."
