Mastering Lightning from Hogwarts
#248 - Fenrir's message
“Time flies, it's been another year. Molly always mentions you, and so do the children, especially Percy. He really admires you and always hopes to become a celebrated hero in the Ministry of Magic one day.” In the living room of the Burrow, Arthur stealthily hid the bottle of wine Anduin had given him, then poured tea while pretending to be nonchalant.
“Yes, it's been so long. I've missed you all too.” Anduin knew Arthur was putting on a show of enthusiasm after doing something he shouldn't have, so he played along with a few polite words.
Anduin took a sip of the vanilla tea. The flavor wasn't bad. Then he looked up and casually asked, “By the way, Arthur, what ever happened with that matter I asked you about last time? Moody is always so busy, I rarely get a reply from him.”
“You mean about that werewolf wizard Fenrir? He's practically a regular in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. In his early years, he would often sneak into wizarding communities and specifically target children, intending to bite and infect them, thus increasing the werewolf population.”
Arthur shuddered slightly at the thought of this terrorist. He was very protective and fond of children, and the thought that such people existed in the world made him uncomfortable.
“I've also heard about what he did in the Forbidden Forest. Professor Kettleburn said that he discovered the werewolf and then drove him away with you and Hagrid?” Arthur looked at Anduin with a strange expression.
“Something like that.” Anduin shrugged, responding casually.
“Haha, Moody said he wouldn't believe it even if he died. He said you must have taken care of those werewolves and then pushed the old professor forward to take the blame because you didn't want the hassle.” Arthur chuckled, patting his plump belly.
Looks like Moody knows me well, Anduin thought. He knew this Auror was very perceptive. His handling of the situation this time was a bit rough, so it wasn't surprising that he saw through it.
“But Moody also said that it's better that you handled it that way. That Fenrir is no ordinary character. The werewolf community he built has caused a lot of trouble in the European wizarding world. It's better to keep a low profile to avoid him seeking revenge secretly.”
“As for his current whereabouts, the latest news the Department of Magical Law Enforcement received is that a week after he escaped from the Forbidden Forest, the French Ministry of Magic sent us intelligence indicating that his activities had been detected in France.”
“This proves that he probably fled abroad as soon as his trail was exposed. This is old news, you should already know.” Arthur recalled as he recounted.
Anduin nodded upon hearing this. He had actually been paying attention to the werewolf wizard's whereabouts all along, but it was inconvenient to investigate personally at Hogwarts. So every once in a while, he would exchange information with his friends in the Ministry of Magic, including Moody, Vanessa, Arthur, and others. Recently, he had been engrossed in research and hadn't paid attention to this matter for a while.
“After he was discovered in France, he quickly disappeared again. This guy has a strong sense of vigilance, and he moves immediately as soon as he shows any sign. Three months later, he was discovered in Romania and was involved in several dragon smuggling cases. Apparently, that guy hasn't given up on the smuggling business.”
“Because you kept asking about it, I recently went to the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures to ask about it. It seems that the guy has been active in the Nordic region recently. A black market informant reported last month that he seemed to have been spotted in Norway.”
“But no one knows where that guy is now. His range of activities is too wide. His footprints are all over Europe.” Arthur shook his head and looked at Anduin helplessly.
“That can't be helped. It seems that this guy is more dangerous than I imagined. It's a pity I didn't take care of him directly last time, but I don't have to worry about Fenrir's revenge in the short term.”
Anduin really wanted to eliminate the threat completely, but that guy's whereabouts were erratic and he ran fast. Obviously, it wasn't realistic to find him quickly, so Anduin could only suppress the thought in his heart.
He sighed softly, then thought of something and looked up at Arthur. “By the way, do you have any leads on that 'Silver Spear' I asked you about before?”
“You mean the organization with the same name as the former Silver Spear dueling club?” Arthur took a sip of tea to moisten his throat. “This organization is completely different from the famous dueling club in history.”
“According to intelligence provided by the Ministries of Magic of various European countries, the current 'Silver Spear' is an underground organization active on the European continent.”
“The only connection it has with the dueling club in history is said to be that its core leadership is made up of survivors from the original Silver Spear club.”
“This organization is now mainly engaged in various smuggling activities in inland Europe, including alchemy and potion ingredients, magical creatures, and is even said to be involved in the slave trade of intelligent beings.” Arthur leaned closer to Anduin and said quietly, as if it were a big secret.
“Has this organization been active for a long time? How come I've never heard of them in Britain?” Anduin asked curiously.
“This organization has only emerged in the last decade or so. Their operations are much more rigorous than imagined. No one knows who their boss is, and they never personally collect, hunt, or transport smuggled goods.”
“Their business model is very special. The Silver Spear helps smugglers in various places contact buyers and acts as a transaction intermediary and guarantor.”
“The French Ministry of Magic once raided an underground smuggling market, which was said to be a black market opened by the Silver Spear. But even the black market bosses who were arrested don't know much more about the Silver Spear.”
“According to the intelligence we saw in the files, that black market boss, although nominally affiliated with the Silver Spear and indeed a subordinate organization of the Silver Spear, the Silver Spear would provide this black market with information on sources of goods and buyers, but the subsequent transactions were handled by the black market.”
“A portion of the profits from the transaction would be handed over to the Silver Spear, but the Silver Spear only had a one-way connection with the black market. The black market had no idea who their superiors were, and black markets like them were spread all over the European continent.”
“It is said that if you open a black market and it reaches a certain scale, you can contact the Silver Spear and obtain the Silver Spear's transaction authorization, so there are many black markets and smuggling exchanges operating under the name of the Silver Spear.”
“However, they haven't been seen much in the British wizarding world. Perhaps this organization hasn't developed over here yet.” Arthur explained the organization's information to Anduin. Although there was a lot of it, it was basically not particularly useful intelligence.
