Mastering Lightning from Hogwarts
#208 - Don't be afraid, it won't hurt.
"Ah! You've changed your hairstyle since I last saw you? I almost didn't recognize you with that short hair." Vivian quickly changed the subject when Anduin asked about the report.
Seeing Vivian still beating around the bush, Anduin couldn't help but glare at her.
Seeing Anduin's expression, Vivian said awkwardly, "You're asking about that interview? It just so happened that I met a reporter at the banquet that day, and he was very interested in news about you."
"You have no idea how much gossip about you was worth back then, so…"
"So you sold me out?" Anduin looked at her speechlessly.
"Don't put it so harshly, I was doing it for your own good. This can help you build your reputation. You're a celebrity in the wizarding world now!" Vivian giggled, trying to gloss over it.
"Having barbecue parties at school every day, torturing classmates with inhuman training, is that what you mean by building my reputation? And why did you spend half the report talking about your mahjong club?" Anduin rebuked.
"That reporter was writing nonsense, it has nothing to do with me!" Vivian retorted loudly. "Besides, he was the one who was interested in my mahjong club and wrote about it."
Vivian, with her thick skin, shamelessly tried to muddle through, and Anduin was really helpless with her. Just then, Charles, Velen, and the others walked into the carriage.
"Good, you guys came at the right time, quickly sit down." Anduin said as he began to put things on.
"Huh? What's up? By the way, why did you change your hairstyle? Didn't the long hair look more elegant?" Charles asked curiously, but obediently sat down next to him.
"Help me with something."
Anduin took out a small wooden rack filled with test tubes, as well as several sets of plastic-sealed medical syringes, iodine for disinfection, cotton swabs, and other things.
"W-what are you going to do?" Vivian, who had lived in the Muggle world since she was a child, immediately recognized these as things used for drawing blood, and showed a look of fear.
"Don't be nervous, I'm giving you a physical exam to see how your magic reserves are." Anduin looked at Vivian expressionlessly, then grabbed her arm.
"D-don't come over here! I was wrong, I shouldn't have agreed to those gossip magazine interviews, don't draw my blood, I'm afraid of needles!"
She watched as Anduin rolled up her sleeve and skillfully applied disinfectant to the inside of her arm. Vivian struggled and pleaded, but it was no use. →
Anduin didn't give her a chance to break free, holding her tightly and saying seriously, "Don't move, if I insert it in the wrong place, I'll have to do it again."
"It's in, no, it hurts! It's coming out, blood is coming out!" Vivian's eyes were about to fill with tears, and Anduin forcefully drew half a test tube of blood from her.
Charles and the others watched Anduin's neat movements, all of them噤若寒蝉. Although they had lazed around during the summer vacation, it shouldn't be this cruel, right?
Anduin put away Vivian's blood, immediately stuck on a label, and nodded with satisfaction, then turned his head to look at the others.
"Next, it's your turn. Don't worry, it'll be quick. See, Vivian isn't crying anymore, is she?"
"No, explain clearly, what exactly are you doing? You're not trying to research dark magic, are you?" Charles asked, still not understanding.
"Didn't I say I was measuring your magic reserves? What's there to be nervous about?" Anduin said, reaching his clutches towards Charles.
Ten minutes later.
Anduin was organizing the test tubes in front of him with a satisfied expression, while everyone else had a look of surviving a disaster.
As people who had lived in the wizarding world since childhood, they couldn't understand Anduin's behavior at all. From a young age, their parents had taught them that blood was a medium for casting curses and other dark magic.
The reason Anduin was able to easily draw blood from them was mainly due to their trust in him.
But even so, they were still on tenterhooks, because they didn't understand what Anduin had said earlier.
"We're wizards, when did you switch to being a doctor? You even need to draw blood. If you want to do blood tests, you don't even have the machines." Vivian, who was only reluctant because she was afraid of needles, asked in confusion.
"Just wait and see." Anduin smiled slightly, then began to take out a few more things.
He took out something the size of a plate, which looked like a mirror without a reflective surface, and also somewhat like a modern electronic scale, with a smooth circular surface in the center and two small boxes below displaying numbers.
Then he handed it to Vivian, "Come, put your hand on it."
"What are you doing? Are you going to do something strange to me again?" Vivian was already a little afraid of him. Since the end of the summer vacation, he suddenly had a lot of weird gadgets.
"This time it won't hurt, don't panic." Anduin comforted expressionlessly.
Vivian placed her hand on the disc with some suspicion, and then a wave of magic flashed across the disc, extending from her palm to her whole body, as if scanning something.
After a while, a line of values appeared under the disc. Anduin saw it and quickly recorded it.
Then he took out a dropper-style prop, and after slightly adjusting it in his hand, he inserted it into the test tube containing Vivian's blood.
After that, the dropper-style prop automatically extracted a certain amount of blood, and after Anduin connected the dropper to the disc with a metal wire, another value was displayed below the original value on the disc.
"168 Ke? How can your level be like a third-year freshman? It seems that your previous foundation was too poor, and you need to work harder this academic year." Anduin shook his head with some dissatisfaction.
"What? What exactly are you doing? I don't understand at all?" Hearing Anduin's words, Vivian suddenly had a bad feeling.
"This is the magic measuring instrument 0 that I just developed." Anduin raised the disc and dropper in his hand. "This disc is responsible for detecting the total amount of blood in your body, and the dropper is responsible for accurately absorbing a certain amount of blood and measuring the amount of magic contained in it."
"I recently found through experiments that the magic storage in a wizard's blood accounts for exactly half of the magic in the whole body, so as long as you extract a part of the blood and measure its magic value, multiply it by the total amount of blood in the body and then multiply it by two, you can measure the magic storage in the whole body."
