Mastering Lightning from Hogwarts

#120 - Purity Committee

"Mmm." Ivor's face flushed slightly, then he nodded with a hint of pride.

Anduin glanced at the two in surprise. He knew that Vivian was good at the history of magic, but he didn't expect her to even know the name. He couldn't tell that this shy boy was actually from a prestigious family.

"Minister Ottaline Gambol established a committee during her term to investigate the intelligence of Muggles, and confirmed that Muggles' intelligence appeared to be much greater than wizards thought. She was also a minister who was relatively close to Muggles and was very loved during her term." Vivian recounted the history she knew to Anduin as if reciting a treasure.

Ivor, sitting opposite her, blushed with embarrassment as Vivian kept praising his ancestor.

"Yes," Ivor said with a smile, "Since that ancestor, our family has been dedicated to studying Muggles. Two Muggle Studies professors have come from our family. My grandmother is also a Muggle, and we now live in a Muggle community. I even went to their kindergarten when I was a child."

Ivor wasn't so nervous anymore and even talked to the two about his childhood. It was clear that he had made many Muggle friends when he was young.

"Your thoughts are dangerous!"

As the three were chatting, a discordant voice interrupted them.

They turned their heads and saw Wilkes walking over. Wilkes glanced at Anduin and continued to say to Ivor, "Muggle-borns are just inferior beings. As a Slytherin, you should know where you belong. Don't always hang out with disreputable people."

After saying that, he glanced at Anduin intentionally or unintentionally.

At this time, Ivor looked at Wilkes with a loss, then looked at Anduin, and muttered in a low voice, "But, many of my Muggle friends are very smart and are no different from us."

"Humph! Wilkes, this is none of your business. What are you doing here? Are you trying to disturb our dinner?" Vivian slammed the table and glared at Wilkes.

"Heh, as a prefect, is there a problem with me caring about the new students of the academy? I'm just worried that young people who are new to the world will be led astray," Wilkes sneered.

Vivian was so angry at his sarcastic words that she was about to get up to argue, but Anduin quickly grabbed her shoulder and pressed her back into her seat.

"It seems that someone has forgotten the pain after their wounds have healed. It doesn't matter, say whatever you want, and I will write it down one by one." Anduin smiled slightly and actually took out a notebook, opened it, and stared straight at Wilkes.

Wilkes felt his hair stand on end from Anduin's stare, and he recalled some unpleasant memories from the previous semester. He could only snort coldly and turn to leave.

"Humph, coward! You scared him so much that he ran away with his tail between his legs. He must be afraid that you will write down his words and report them to the headmaster, and then he'll be removed from his position as prefect." Vivian sarcastically said angrily.

Knowing what was going on, Anduin didn't say much, but instead looked at Ivor apologetically, "Sorry, you had to see this as soon as you entered the academy."

"Um, it's, it's nothing. Is that the prefect of our academy? He looks so fierce." Scared by Wilkes, Ivor stuttered again.

"Don't pay attention to that guy. He's no good. What else can he do besides bullying people." Vivian complained grumpily.

Seeing Vivian also looking fierce, Ivor could only nod nervously.

The Sorting Ceremony ended quickly, and the grand welcome dinner officially began. Facing the sumptuous dinner in front of them, all the young wizards happily enjoyed it.

After the dinner, under Dumbledore's command, after singing the painful school song, the young wizards returned to their respective common rooms in an orderly manner.

Back in the common room, Rory Yaxley, who was already the Head Boy, stopped everyone and began his speech.

"Hello everyone, I am the Slytherin male prefect and Head Boy. I represent Slytherin House in welcoming all of you new students."

Yaxley looked at all the new students with a smile and led the applause to welcome everyone. Up to this point, his words were nothing special, but soon his style changed abruptly.

"Presumably, everyone knows what Slytherin House is. We are born noble, shrewd, ambitious, and determined. We admire power and honor. You should be proud to be assigned to our house."

Yaxley looked around and continued, "At the same time, we are also representatives of blood and purity. Maintaining the purity of blood is our natural duty. The current wizarding world is in a mess. All kinds of dirty things that pop up from nowhere have the nerve to claim to be wizards. They want to challenge our position and reputation, steal our jobs, and even want to overstep their bounds and rule and manage the wizarding world. This is simply a disgrace!"

The many pure-blood wizards in the audience applauded and cheered, helping to create momentum, and the students with less firm positions were also driven by this and couldn't help but applaud.

Not to mention those young wizards who had just entered the academy, who were originally unclear about the situation and were swept up in the influence of the crowd and applauded.

Seeing that the effect was good, Yaxley raised his hand and gently pressed down, and everyone obeyed the order to quiet down.

"So in Slytherin, we must take the lead in safeguarding the interests of pure-bloods, and eliminate all connections with Muggles. Quirk Wilkes, Millie Osbert, Sampel Travers, you few come up."

At Yaxley's call, Wilkes, Travers, and Osbert, a 6th-year female prefect, walked up the steps together.

"Next, we will establish a Purity Committee in Slytherin, which will be responsible for handling Muggle affairs within the academy. The three of them and I are the heads of this committee, and everyone must abide by it." Yaxley spread his hands to the three people standing beside him, signaling them to come forward and speak.

Travers took the lead in speaking.

"Remember the faces of the three of us. When we come, it means the committee is here to inspect. No one else can control you except us, understand?" Travers shouted arrogantly to the crowd below the steps.

"Understood." The other pure-blood wizards in the audience took the lead in responding, and the other young wizards had no choice but to follow.

"Let me introduce, this is the president of our academy's Purity Committee, Senior Wilkes, call him Senior!" Travers pointed to Travers beside him and introduced him to everyone.

"Hello, Senior!" In a scattering of shouts, Wilkes stood up straight with his head held high.
