Mage Joan
Chapter 24: Grey's cave
Joan saw Gray's intention and smiled gratefully at him.
"I just want to make a fire to keep warm, so I don't need such a big tree." Later I added: "Thank you, Gray, you're doing'Mott' in this matter."
Gray grinned happily when he heard that he praised his "Mott", squatting in the hole and watching Joan busy.
Joan opened his backpack, took out a small, tight leather bag, untied the opening, and turned out the flint and paper twist. Strike the flint to ignite the paper twist, and then ignite the firewood to create a bonfire.
Flames in nature are not uncommon. Gray has a plain understanding of the "fire" material. He looked nervous when he saw the bonfire rising, and took two steps backwards, lest he be burned by the "monster" that glowed red. Seeing Joan reach his hands towards the fire, Grey snarled eagerly, grabbed his shoulders, and “rescue” him from the fire in time.
Joan couldn't help crying, pointing to the campfire and telling him: "Mott!"
Gray's eyes shook his head deeply, pointing at the campfire and corrected: "Moge!"
"No, Gray, the flame is not Moge... of course, it is not pure Mote. This burning energy is neither good nor bad. Whether it is Moge or Mote depends on how you use it."
Joan was talking and couldn't help but find it funny-where the simple-minded Gray could understand these complicated explanations.
Gray does not understand, but it is not inflexible. Since Joan has repeatedly insisted that the bonfire has a "Mott" side, it has to reluctantly release its hand, allowing Joan to approach the bonfire under its supervision. In case Joan was attacked by the red monster, it always had time to rescue.
Joan used the remaining branches to set up a simple hanger and hung the damp cloak on it for baking. When the body warmed up, the stomach grunted in protest.
Joan hasn’t eaten anything in the morning and still has dry food and water in his backpack, but when he thinks about it, he picks up the big piece of crocodile meat that Gray dropped on the ground and goes to the pond outside the cave. Clean it, and then use a dagger to sharpen the wooden sticks to skewer the raw meat and set it on the campfire to roast.
The pink crocodile fleshed out the fat under the fire of the fire tongue, and gradually turned into a burnt yellow. When the fat fell into the fire and made a snorting sound, a mouth-watering aroma diffused out.
Gray was sitting next to Joan, with his hands on his cheeks to watch him roast, and his eyes alternated with confusion and surprise. Licking and licking again, a large piece of meat has now shrunk in a circle, and even the color of the meat has become ugly, and the good things have been spoiled.
The meat was almost roasted. Joan took the portable seasoning bottle from his backpack and sprinkled the salted crocodile meat evenly until it was golden and crispy. Stabbed into the meat with a dagger, the gravy that penetrated along the edge of the knife could hardly be seen bleeding. After confirming that the crocodile meat had been completely cooked, Joan inserted the wooden stick into the soil. Watching the burnt barbecue roasted with oil, it slowly flowed down the wooden stick and swallowed.
Waving a knife to cut a barbeque and stuffing it into his mouth, Joan nodded in satisfaction while chewing. The stomach that had just been tortured by raw meat was soothed and his appetite was wide open.
Greymoon stared at Joan's barbeque, his face unbelievable.
"Taste it?" Joan picked up a barbecue with his dagger and handed it over. He also thumbs up and praised his barbecue skill as "Mott".
Gray took the barbecue, turned it over and over and observed it, throwing his doubts into his mouth and chewing carefully.
Joan looked at Gray expectantly, expecting it to be well received.
It was a pity that he was disappointed, and Gray yelled out the chewy roast without disguising his face with contempt: "Moge!"
Joan shrugged helplessly. It seems that cooked meat does not meet Gray's taste, and fresh raw meat is his favorite.
Despite the great differences in taste, Gray did not object to Joan cooking food in his own way, and he was no longer afraid of the bonfire rising outside the cave, and even a little bit like being warmed and baked. Feel it.
Joan spent the night in Grey's cave. He had originally planned to sneak away while Gray was asleep, but unfortunately the Gray Giant was very alert. Even when he was taking a nap, at least one of the three pairs of eyes was half-open. If there was a little wind and grass nearby, he would look at it for the first time, golden eyes Eyes are particularly eerie in the dark.
Joanne is sure that Gray is not malicious to himself under normal conditions, but who knows if this barbaric monster will suddenly change his temperament? So he tried to be cautious and avoid trying things that might anger Gray.
One person and one blame maintained a peculiar cohabitation state, and thus spent a peaceful night. Gray did not allow Joan to leave his sight, and Joan felt helpless about it. When he had nothing to do, he read through the "Alchemy and Pharmacy Introductory Handbook" given to him by Dr. Kairandil.
Joan's herbal illustrations drawn on the reference book, and he was pleasantly surprised to find that there are many medicinal herbs recorded in the swamp near the cave. Some of the medicinal herbs are also quite expensive. If they can be collected, they can make money than catching leeches. Much faster. However, considering his own situation as a prisoner, these things are now superfluous.
Early in the morning, the sunlight disperses the mist over the swamp and shines through the inclined hole. Joan narrowed her eyes to adjust to the light changes and slowly stood up.
The bonfire at the entrance of the cave only had scarlet embers, and the carbon ash released the last trace of heat, expelling the dew and moisture trying to penetrate into the cave. Joan walked over, took off the cloak from the homemade hanger and touched it, and found with satisfaction that it was completely dried.
Seeming to hear the movement, the gray giant Grey also climbed up from the haystack, grinning his fangs with big teeth and making a big yawn, stepping out of the cave, kneeling by the pond with his hands and feet, and groaning Swallow the pool water. After drinking enough water, Gray wiped his wet face and burped comfortably.
Joan saw Gray drinking water, and his throat throbbed inexplicably. However, he did not want to emulate Gray's animal-like drinking water, nor did he have a steel-strong stomach like Gray. Drinking raw water directly might cause diarrhea.
Joan threw a few pieces of firewood into the carbon fire embers, reignited the bonfire, then turned the iron lunch box out of the backpack, filled it with water and boiled it, moved it to the side to wait for the water temperature to cool slightly, and partly poured into the sheepskin water bag For drinking, the rest is used for washing.
Gray squatted beside the fire, his big hands on his knees, and watched Joan busy in a rather obedient posture. Although he didn't quite understand why he put the water container on top of the "red monster" and burned it up, everything in front of him made it strange and interesting.
