Legend of Tomorrow

Chapter 1042 [Super bad contract, saved Kobe]

In September, NBA training camp for the new season is approaching, and big fish in the free market are signing contracts one after another.

Bosh signed a five-year, $118 million contract extension with the Lakers. The Lakers management has no other choice. If they want to ensure the team's competitiveness next season, they can only choose to renew Bosh's contract. Otherwise, they will not have a big-name star to attract fans.

This is a super bad contract, and no one except Guo Xu knows about it yet.

In Guo Xu's previous life, Bosh was diagnosed with venous thrombosis in the 2014-15 season and rested after playing for half a season. He insisted on playing next season and did not play another game for the Heat after he was diagnosed with blood clots again in February. Although Bosh expressed his desire to play many times, he was unable to come back because his body was not up to standard and would be life-threatening. As a result, he took home $76 million from the Heat.

The Lakers gave up on renewing Bogut's contract and signed spring power forward Ed Davis at a low price of 2 million for two years.

At the center position, the management plans to focus on cultivating first-round pick Nurkic. He will share the playing time at the 5th position with Jordan Hill, and the marginal man is Towel Man Robert Sacre.

For the small forward position, the Lakers signed Wesley Johnson for 1 million in one year. This was a parallel import who ranked fourth in the first round in 2010. He only has outstanding physical fitness and average skills.

The Lakers poached Warriors fringe player Nick Young for $8 million in two years. Kupchik believes that Nick Young is good and signing him is a good deal. After winning the championship, Nick Young was unwilling to stay with the Warriors and continue to be a substitute, and wanted a bigger contract.

Veteran Battier is a free agent and was given up by the Lakers. Next, he should only choose to retire. Last season, he averaged 20 minutes per game, only 4.1 points, 2 rebounds and 0.9 assists, shooting 38.2% from the field and 34.8% from the three-point range.

Without the championship bonus, no team will regard Battier as a championship puzzle piece. The Lakers have not made the playoffs for two consecutive years, and he has no role on the defensive end.

Battier on Earth 1 is very unfortunate. He didn't get a decent nickname, he didn't play in a few playoff games, he didn't have luxurious statistics, he was an ordinary role player, and he didn't leave any story in the NBA.

The Lakers also made a trade with the Nets, sending Joe Johnson in exchange for Deron Williams. The Lakers have no chance of winning the championship next season. They want to muddy the waters for the championship teams.

Joe Johnson's condition has declined significantly, averaging only 16+3+3.5 last season. He signed a six-year contract with the Lakers in 2010, which will not expire until 2016. In 2012, the Nets signed a five-year, $98 million contract extension with Deron, expiring in 2017.

Both parties feel that they have made a profit and it is a win-win situation. The coach of the Nets is Mike Brown, who has worked with James for many years.

They will play point forward tactics in the new season. They need wings who can shoot three-pointers, and they don't need Deron who is only good at pick-and-roll tactics.

The Lakers hope that Deron and Bosh will play pick-and-rolls and combine inside and outside. The Lakers' coach is still Byron Scott, who likes to use point guards as the core.

Kupchak feels that Deron is younger, born in 1984 and only 30 years old this year, and his decline rate should be slower than that of Joe Johnson. If he can't play anymore after three years, the Lakers can just not renew his contract.

The Nets and swingman Alan Anderson have reached an agreement to renew their contract. The new contract lasts for 2 years and the total amount is slightly less than 3 million US dollars, of which the second year is a player option.

They also signed a three-year, $10 million contract with Bojan Bogdanovic, securing replacements for positions 2 and 3.

Bojan was a rookie selected by the Heat in the second round in 2011. He traded his signing rights to the Nets and joined the NBA three years later. He is 203cm tall and weighs 98kg. He is a swingman who is good at catching and shooting and can play two positions.

The Nets also signed Nuggets guard Nate Robinson, who has never been able to get a big contract because of his height. He is willing to join with a minimum salary because the Nets have become very weak after sending away Deron at No. 1, and he should be able to get a lot of performance opportunities.

Steve Blake signed a two-year, $4 million contract. Blake won a championship with the Suns and also performed well with the Timberwolves. He can shoot three-pointers and organize offenses. He can find a job even if his quality declines.

The Nets manager believes that he is a good partner with James. He can catch the ball and shoot three-pointers, but he is worse at guarding against speedy guards.

The Warriors were not idle either. After letting go of C.J. Watson, they signed veteran Leandro Barbosa with a minimum salary. Back then, the Brazilian Lightning made a fuss and wanted to leave, but now they are back to hug their thighs.

At the press conference, Barbosa bluntly stated that the reasons that made him leave the Warriors no longer exist.

The Warriors also signed veteran Richard Jefferson with a minimum salary to make up for the vacancy left by Nick Young's departure.

Jefferson can shoot three-pointers and is fully qualified as a substitute. Last season he averaged 27 minutes per game with the Jazz, scoring 10.1 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists, shooting 40.9% from three-point range and hitting 1.5 field goals.

The season hasn't even started yet, and everyone thinks that the championship will be won between these two teams, with other teams accompanying them. The Spurs didn't sign any strongman. They had the same lineup as last season and just signed rookie Kyle Anderson. How could they compete with the Warriors?

It seems that the only team in the West that can compete with the Warriors is the Clippers, and the Nets in the East are completely unique.

There are also some big-name free agents who are unsure of their next stop.

The first to bear the brunt are Kobe and Wade. Kobe is a free agent, and Wade is out of his contract.

The Heat had no hope of winning the championship. Pat Riley put Wade on the shelf several times, and gradually Wade and the management also had conflicts. He had already chosen to take a salary cut in his last contract in order to stay with the Heat, and the team wanted to send him away instead of bringing in a strong man to compete for the championship. So what was the significance of his salary cut?

In fact, the Heat tried to poach someone to compete for the championship, but no one was willing to come, and Granger was disabled due to injury.

The Hawks, Cavaliers, and Bulls offered Wade contracts, but two of them were rebuilding teams. Wade didn't want to join. After considering it, he chose to cut his salary and join the Bulls in September.

As long as Derrick Rose remains healthy and the team also has Luol Deng, Millsap, Taj Gibson, Asik and others, the Bulls are not weak and may be able to compete with the Nets in the Eastern Conference.

When Wade participated in the draft, he wanted to join the Bulls the most, but unfortunately he missed out.

Only the Heat are willing to offer Kobe a two-year high-paying contract. This team is completely hopeless and must be rebuilt. The Heat and the Mavericks had exactly the same idea last season, using Kobe's popularity and singles to attract fans, and clearing out all junk contracts after two seasons.

No one gave Kobe the three-year contract he wanted, and he would be 39 years old three years later. In fact, the team that Kobe wanted to join the most was also the Bulls. The lineup looked good, but the Bulls had the Warriors' CBA teammate Luol Deng on the wing. How could he want Kobe?

Through Luol Deng's dictation, the manager can roughly guess what the outcome will be when Kobe comes.

Kobe wanted a high salary, but he ruthlessly rejected the Heat. If he ends up at the bottom for two consecutive years, what's the point of joining him? Should I just brush up the data, admit that I am a cheat and a cancer, and then retire sadly?

The new season is about to begin, and the 76ers, who want to make a difference next season, saved Kobe.

After sending away David Lee and Jrue Holiday, the 76ers have ample salary space and no big-name stars. The most famous players on the team are only DeAndre Jordan and Garnett, who is in decline.

The 76ers are not weak as a whole, and Thaddeus Young, Evan Turner and others all have good offensive power.

They also traded Jason Richardson, who has championship experience, from the Suns last season, and Guo Xu's growth is small. Richardson can occasionally play as a guest at the 4th position, and Earl Clark can open up the space and shoot three-pointers, but breakthroughs are impossible.

Last season, the 76ers reached the second round and were eliminated. This year they want to go to the next level...
