Legacy of the Dark Sage

839 Wonder Potion

Kyran barely managed to use the token and returned to his room at the Eidum's Border HQ. As soon as he arrived, he collapsed while vomiting another round of blood.

"Nar!"

Kyran heard the Abbot's voice called out. He inwardly frowned, wondering why he was in his room. However, the pain he endured earlier finally took a great toll on his body, which was why, after vomiting, he passed out cold.

The old man was shocked, speechless, seeing Kyran's condition. He had been visiting Kyran's room every now and then to check if he had come back from his trip to who kew where that was why he was there. Unfortunately, after calling out to him and peeking in to check, he found that the room was still empty. When the Abbot was about to close the door, however, a flash of light appeared, and the next thing he saw was a pale Kyran coughing out blood and who knew what else on the floor.

After witnessing Kyran accomplish near-impossible feats in combat, the Abbot viewed the younger man as an almost invincible existence. He never thought of seeing him in this pitiful state, which was why he was scared out of his wits.

Who could have done such damage to a person like Kyran? The Abbot could not fathom such existence. Could it be one of the Sovereigns Kyran had mentioned who was interested in Somuli's fake Sovereign? The thought left the Abbot reeling in fear.

The Abbot did not want to alarm the others by revealing Kyran's condition to them. He helped the younger man to the bed, and immediately checked his body for any internal trauma.

What the Abbot found nearly made him faint in shock. Avoiding all the gory details and summing it all up in a simple sentence: the younger man's internal organs and bones had suffered a huge beating.

The Abbot checked any internal trauma in Kyran's head as well because he noticed a purplish green coloration forming beneath the younger man's hairline. Not to mention, there was dried blood around his nostrils. When the Abbot checked it however, his heart almost gave out.

Any normal person would have been dead if their brain suffered such beating.

Actually, scratch that.

Even the most powerful beast with the toughest skull would die if their brain was battered the same way Kyran's brain suffered.

While the Abbot was reeling over this discovery, a voice suddenly spoke in his head.

[Don't just stare at him like that! Go inject some of your magic energy into his body fast!]

'Who—?'

[Talk later. Help him first! Hurry, hurry!]

The Abbot did not doubt the voice, however. Since the voice did not suggest something that could harm Kyran, he knew the voice meant well. In any case, the Abbot did plan on healing Kyran, so injecting him with magic energy was not a hard thing to do.

As the Abbot injected his magic energy into Kyran, a powerful suction force appeared and nearly sucked all his energy! The Abbot was given a fright. However, he could not stop the suction and it continued to drain his energy at a scary speed.

'Oi! What are you doing?' The Abbot yelled telepathically. He did not know if his complain would reach the voice but he did it anyway. He also did not think that the suction force was done by anyone else but the owner of the voice.

[I can't draw his energy if I want to help him! I can only make do with yours.]

The Abbot's brow twitched, 'What do you mean make do with my energy? What do you take my energy for?'

[Compared to his energy yours are lacking!]

The voice replied without any reservation it nearly made the Abbot faint in anger.

[Gah! You're energy is far too... anyway, here goes!]

'You—!'

The Abbot was just about to complain when he nearly blacked out from the sudden surge of suction force draining his energy. It only lasted for a few seconds though and when it ended, his eyes almost popped out of its socket as something materialized before him.

Hovering a couple of feet above Kyran's bed was a miniature dark purple armor.

"Thanks, old man. Just wait and I'll give you a magic energy pill," True Void told the Abbot while he landed beside Kyran. He tapped on the storage pouch on Kyran's belt and took out a pill and a small bottle with white liquid.

True Void threw the pill at the Abbot's direction and said, "That's payment for the magic energy. Don't worry, that is a saint-tier magic energy pill and will restore your reserves in one lump sum."

The Abbot did not need him to say that last part since he already noticed the high efficacy rate of the pill just by its smell. He was already aware that Kyran was proficient in Apothecary, but never imagined it to be at this level.

Alas, just when he thought he already knew the younger man, the more he realized he had only grasped the tip of his being.

True Void was not interested in the Abbot's internal soliloquy and already gave his undivided attention to Kyran. With a soft thump, he uncapped the small bottle and hastily, yet carefully brought its opening toward Kyran's slightly parted lips. After which, True Void guided the white liquid to course down Kyran's throat using his own magic sense.

The Abbot watched this happen in silence. He did not know who the miniature armor was, but he more or less guessed he was someone who was worried about Kyran. If not, he would not have sounded frantic when he communicated with him telepathically.

The white liquid had yet to completely drain out of the small bottle when the Abbot noticed Kyran's face distorted.

True Void noticed this as well, but he did not care. Recalling what transpired a moment ago gave him goosebumps and knew that Kyran had to improve his physical body before that person— or being found them.

'There's also that Ruin guy— gah! Why do these type of people have to come at the same time? Just who did you offend while I was asleep, huh? Stupid Void Halfling! Stupid! Stupid!' True Void ranted inwardly. Nevertheless, his ranting sounded more of a worried mother than an angry one.

It was unfortunate that True Void's connection with Kyran got removed while inside the hooded person's dimension. If not, he would have heard that the latter came to Kyran not because he offended someone, but because of the Shaiha.

"Ngh....! Aaargh!" Kyran suddenly screamed out in pain, with his body jerking upward.

The sudden movement startled the Abbot. He wanted to tell the miniature armor to stop feeding Kyran the potion because it seemed to be aggravating his condition rather than improve it. But one glance at the miniature armor, who persisted in feeding the rest of the potion to Kyran, made the Abbot stopped.

He suddenly recalled a potion that every Apothecarist in Somuli dreamed of making.

A wonder potion that could heal and enhance one's body— the Elixir. However, according to an old Apothecary record, the Elixir's enhancement effect was not a joyful experience.

In order for one's body to be enhanced, the Elixir first had to break down that person's bones, and internal organs. After that, it would reconstruct them from scratch. Thus, enhancing them.

The Abbot looked at the small bottle in the miniature's hand and tried to compare the image of the Elixir he read in that old Apothecary record. Unfortunately, the small bottle only showed an unimpressive white liquid. Not to mention, his initial assessment of the potion's level was only around a mid-grade potion.

Still, Kyran's reaction to the potion did not seem to match the information the Abbot could see, and its result.

'Unless the potion is only at mid-grade in terms of its efficacy?'

The Abbot's expression turned blank. Potions were graded depending on their efficacy. This was common knowledge. It was similar to a healing potion having several grades. But depending on the potion's prescription, the healing potion could be a high-tier even if its efficacy was only low-grade.

Looking at the white potion, if it was really that wonder potion, Elixir, and it was only mid-grade yet Kyran already reacted strongly to it— how strong would a high-grade one could be?

"AAAARRRGGHH!"

The Abbot was forced out of his thoughts when a burst of raw energy exploded from Kyran.

"Oi! Old man!" True Void called the Abbot's attention.

The Abbot need not be told twice, as he summoned his Divine Armament and summoned sturdy shields that covered Kyran on all sides.

True Void remained with Kyran inside the Abbot's containment. He then took this chance to absorb all the energy that leaked out from Kyran's body.

'Endure it, Void Halfling. I'll absorb all the energy that leaks out from the Elixir. This way, both of us will improve ourselves before those two find us.... Gah! Seriously, you are one handful master!'

While the Abbot and True Void was frantically helping Kyran recover to the utmost of their abilities, the hooded person appeared on a piece of floating rubble outside the Somuli plane. It took out a crystal disc and a silhouette of someone wearing an oversized robe.

"I am sorry, Master, I failed to apprehend the target."

The silhouette sighed, "I never expected it to be easy, but now that you made contact, his vigilance will double."

"Yes. It is unfortunate that a survivor of the Demon Clan intervened, claiming the target to be his prey."

"I heard your conversation."

"Master, if you give the order, I will eliminate that failure."

The silhouette shook its head, "No. Our sole mission is that person with the Heart of the Cosmos. Do not do anything unnecessary. I don't want those Fates breathing curses down my neck if you show up there and inadvertedly interfere with the fates of those people below."

"Then, do I have to wait again until the target is alone?"

"Not necessarily," the silhouette replied. "Find out his relationship with those people he tried to protect. We'll create our opportunity."

"Understood."

At the same time, somewhere in Somuli, Ruin hovered cross-legged while looking at the sky. It did not seem like he was looking at something in particular, but with his enigmatic self, there was really no telling.

"You d*mn things... suddenly coming to the Lower Realm when the War of the Sovereigns has yet to start... what are you guys up to?"

He thought of what might have happened to Kyran if he had not arrived in time, and his eyes narrowed in anger.

"Anyone dared touch my prey will be destroyed," he snarled under his breath. "If you dare come again, I'll ruin you."

From the floating rubble outside the Somuli plane, the hooded person chuckled and muttered, "I like to see you try."
