Knight with Wand

Chapter 18 The Friendship of Griffins

After hearing the girl's voice, Leon hesitated. The sword in his hand was his only sense of security. Did he have to go forward with bare hands?

"Griffins are not just beasts. Their intelligence is not lower than that of humans. You should at least put away your weapons and make a gesture." The girl's voice reminded.

Leon was skeptical when he heard it. Looking at the beast's sharp eagle eyes staring at him, he really didn't expect that this creature could have such high intelligence, but the girl's voice certainly had no reason to lie to him.

So he made a decision, raised his hand to sheath the long sword, put the spirit lamp on the ground, and Leon tried to raise his empty hands towards the griffin to indicate that he had no hostility.

The griffin still had no reaction.

Seeing this, Leon frowned and thought for a while, then simply untied his sword and scabbard from his belt and put it on the ground, then stood up and looked into the griffin's eyes, pointed at the crossbow arrows stuck in its chest and abdomen: "I'm not your enemy, I just want to help you, don't hurt me, okay?"

After waiting for a while, perhaps the griffin really understood Leon's kindness, or perhaps it was simply out of strength, the griffin opened its eagle beak, whimpered softly in pain, and the huge claws slightly raised to the side, revealing the terrible arrow wounds on its chest and abdomen.

Is this a response?

Leon took a deep breath and walked towards its body.

It's no wonder he was nervous. Being close to such a huge beast is much more exciting than pulling teeth from a tiger's mouth.

With his heart pounding, Leon squatted in front of the griffin's chest and abdomen.

Very good, this big guy didn't send him to the west with one claw. It seems that what the girl said in the voice is true, it is indeed very smart.

Leon looked at the arrow wound in front of him. The tail feathers of the crossbow arrow were very delicate, and the thick crossbow rod exposed outside the body could even be seen with intricate patterns engraved on the surface. Looking more carefully, it seemed that there were some purple arcs of light flowing faintly on the surface of the crossbow arrow.

"Enchanted weapon?" Leon was amazed.

". It can't be considered enchanted. It just makes a layer of connection on the surface that can be manipulated by the caster. It is inefficient and simple, and there is not even encryption in the spell. It's a pity that people nowadays dare to use this kind of thing, and they are not afraid of being countered and flying back after shooting." The girl's voice suddenly muttered, seeming to look down on this practice.

Leon didn't know what bad luck this crossbow arrow had caused her, but wisely decided not to get involved in such a professional topic.

Grabbing the tail rod with both hands, Leon nervously tried to pull it out, and the arrow body was pulled out a few inches.

The griffin immediately roared a huge whine in pain, and its limbs and wings were tense in severe pain.

Azerien and Lohak, who were not far away, were frightened by the roar and tightened their weapons.

Leon paused for a moment, turned his head and looked around. Fortunately, the griffin's claws were tightly clasped on the ground, and there was no more reaction.

Seeing that the big guy didn't attack him even though he was in so much pain, Leon gradually became bolder and increased the strength in his hands slightly: "It's better to suffer a short pain than a long pain. Bear with it, big guy."

Fortunately, Leon could feel from the touch that the tip of the crossbow arrow had no barbs, and the process of pulling it out was not difficult. I don't know if it was because of the shape of the crossbow arrow, or if the attacker wanted to capture rather than kill the griffin.

The crossbow arrow deeply inserted into the griffin's chest and abdomen was dragged out of the body with a creaking sound of flesh and blood friction, and streams of blood gushed out.

"Will it not bleed too much and eventually die?"

That would be in vain. Leon grabbed the long crossbow arrow, and his hand was stained with blood from the wound, which was frightening.

"Don't worry, this is one of the most proud works of the King of France."

The girl's voice was still relaxed.

Before she finished speaking, the deep and terrifying arrow hole between the griffin's chest and abdomen seemed to be squeezed and contracted by the muscle group. After a while, not only did it stop bleeding, but even the wound was closed tightly without any gaps.

Leon was suddenly amazed.

A powerful eagle cry brought him back to his senses. Seeing the beast in front of him suddenly turn over, Leon hurriedly stepped back a few steps and made way for it.

The griffin turned from lying on its side to lying on its back with a bang. The four powerful claws supported its huge body and slowly stood up. Its drooping huge wings slightly opened and stretched, as if adjusting its posture.

The raised eagle head, beautiful wings, and a strong and huge lion body.

Leon was amazed at the elegant and beautiful creature in front of him, which was full of energy.

The griffin's huge head shook its feathers twice, and then it turned its head to look at Leon.

The expression in its bright eyes softened a lot.

It called out lightly, as if to say thank you, and its terrifying sharp eagle beak dropped. In the stunned state of the human in front of it, it rubbed the other's head intimately and carefully.

Leon couldn't help but be flattered.

He now really believed that the wisdom of the griffin was not lower than that of humans. If it were an ordinary wild beast, even if it was helped by someone, it would be considered grateful if it didn't bite the person back after being rescued. How could it make such a humane expression of gratitude?

No wonder they are regarded as sacred beasts by the Serians.

Leon held the griffin's head with both hands and gently touched its feathers. It felt really good, more comfortable than the fat chicks he raised on Earth in his previous life, and there was no fishy smell.

Reluctantly letting go of the griffin's head, looking at the mighty and friendly beast in front of him, Leon suddenly felt that the inexplicable contrast was "cute".

Oh no, he was a little reluctant to leave this cute big guy in this dangerous cursed land.

Even though this beast is very powerful, there is really no food for it to survive in this area. According to the girl's voice, the bodies of those undead beasts are full of chaotic energy, which is inedible for both humans and beasts.

Or

Leon thought about it, put the long crossbow in his hand on his back belt, bent down to pick up the spirit lamp on the ground, waved to the griffin, and pointed in the direction of the bright light.

"Come with me, big guy, I'll take you out."

The griffin's huge eagle eyes blinked in confusion, and it tilted its head, as if trying to understand the meaning of the person in front of it.

Seeing this, Leon felt that there was a chance.

He picked up his sword and put it back on his waist, walked two steps towards his companions who were waiting not far away, then turned around and waved, and even his voice was unconscious as if he was facing a small animal, and he instinctively raised his hand: "Come here, come here~ big baby~~"

The griffin looked around, as if he was hesitating, and its huge wings flapped slightly. Its injuries had not recovered yet, so it could only droop in vain. After a long time, it really followed cautiously with a slightly staggering step in Leon's expectant eyes.

Excitement instantly filled Leon's heart.

Good guy, this creature is really too smart.

With the behemoth behind him, Leon excitedly walked towards his nervous companions not far away, and hurriedly asked them to put away their weapons, explaining that the griffin had no hostility, for fear that the weapon would irritate this giant beast that had finally established a friendship with him.

But in fact, he didn't need to remind them. As the real natives of the Serrians, Azerien and Lohak were naturally unwilling to fight against the legendary beasts with swords. They were already shocked by the mythical scene in front of them. It was a privilege to be able to walk with a griffin. This must be a treatment that only appears in legendary stories.

Leon turned his head to look at the griffin behind him. The huge difference in size made it possible for this big guy to easily keep up with his pace even though he was seriously injured and his steps were unstable. In other words, it was deliberately slowing down to follow him.

Raising the spiritual lamp to illuminate the road ahead, with the king of beasts accompanying him, everyone felt a sense of security at this moment.
