Knight Lord: Start with Daily Intelligence

#99 - First victory over the Jieya Bandit Chariot

Chapter 1: Goblin Warlord's War Chariot

After Su Li and Orstein selected the battlefield, the main force of the Hessen Territory army quickly moved to the vicinity of the battlefield, with banners and flags fluttering in the array on the west side of the high slope.

Su Li stood at the highest point of the high slope, looking down to the west, and could see a forest of square formations, flags and armor, illuminating the world.

This was his greatest confidence in winning this battle. He would lead these eight hundred territory soldiers to stop the greenskins here, otherwise they would swarm into the fertile and flat vast plains of Hessen Territory.

At the critical moment of the decisive battle, Knight Orstein comforted everyone. He twitched his brown, hard beard, looked at the direction of the Blood Pine Forest in the east, and said contemptuously: "Although the green tide has five thousand people, they are just a mob. Most of them are the old, weak, and disabled from the tribes. There won't be too many truly fierce and good warriors."

"Moreover, they have joined multiple tribes to achieve this scale. A bloated army without unified command is destined to only rush forward. As long as our tactics are proper, our elite knights will easily dissect this bloated army like a sharp razor."

Everyone knew that Knight Orstein was trying to appease the army and boost morale, but the soldiers still cheered when they heard these inspiring words.

As long as they are of a passionate race, they will always tend to believe what they want to believe.

Hearing Knight Orstein's analysis, the soldiers were even more convinced that they had the upper hand in this battle and would definitely win a great victory.

Even the stubborn dwarves only clenched the heavy hammers in their hands, no longer emphasizing how fierce and terrifying the monsters were, and how different they were from the hastily gathered militia and the old and weak humans.

Su Li held a long sword, stood under the banner of the Thorns family, and asked Knight Orstein: "Do you see them?"

Orstein held a lens inlaid with gold edges, searching for them in the sunny plain under the low clouds.

"Yes," Knight Orstein replied, "I see them. The huge green tide is clamoring and chasing our knights. It's less than thirty miles away from here. They are very fast. Perhaps in less than two or three hours, their vanguard will reach the bottom of this high slope."

Everyone looked at him with concern. Rong En asked, "What is their condition?"

"As the intelligence says, the greenskins are full of restlessness and rage. They are enraged by our horse-riding archer attendants. A large number of goblins and green skin lads are roaring and chasing after us."

"At the forefront are their Goblin Warlord's War Chariots and Forest Spider Riders."

Hearing Knight Orstein's introduction, everyone was invigorated. As expected, it was the same as the intelligence said. This was their opportunity!

A large number of the enemy's cavalry and mobile units were at the forefront. If the knights could strike decisively and destroy all these high-mobility units, then the enemy could only be ravaged by them like bloated fat.

Without mobile units, they would be forced into a meat grinder on the wide front line, and the elite human cavalry could launch fierce surprise attacks from the flanks.

The dwarves knew this tactic best. This was the hammer and anvil tactic. Like a blacksmith's hammer, the cavalry repeatedly launched fierce attacks, squeezing the enemy's space. Finally, a large number of bloated infantry were squeezed into a small area, making it difficult for them to even turn around. Even if there were a large number of brutal trolls and powerful orc warlords in the enemy army, they would not be able to wield their great clubs and giant axes, and could only be pierced by the spears and arrows that were shot from all directions, falling on the muddy battlefield flowing with blood.

This was the standard tactic for the Imperial cavalry to fight against evil monsters.

Having verified the accuracy of the intelligence, Su Li decisively ordered: "Let the shock knights gather and prepare. The first goal of this battle is to defeat the high-mobility forces of the green tide."

Berros Dragon Hammer hugged his heavy warhammer, sat on the ground and prayed with a solemn dwarven prayer ceremony: "Ancestor God Grungni is above, bless our powerful dwarves and human big guys to overcome evil and chop all the green skin trash into pieces."

In the dwarves' vague and unclear prayer sounds, the sound of intense hoofbeats soon rang out in the distance. At this time, the vanguard knights under Knight Orstein's gaze had already returned on horseback. They had various broken arrows stuck in their bodies to varying degrees. Of the twelve knights who set out in a mighty manner, only seven remained upon return, and everyone was injured. Even Frederick, the elite knight commanding them, had goblin crossbow bolts on his griffon.

Riding his horse to the high ground, Frederick shouted without taking a breath: "Lord, the monsters' vanguard is behind us. Their Goblin Warlord's War Chariots and Spider Riders have broken away from the main force by at least ten miles. We can kill them all with one blow."

Without further ado, Su Li and the knights around him had already seen the monsters howling and chasing after them.

The Goblin Warlord's War Chariots rushed to the forefront. This was a famous goblin wolf chariot. Shortly after goblins began using giant wolves as mounts for their cavalry, their armies began using wolf-drawn chariots. They roughly pieced together felled logs or collected materials, then tightened them with gut cords. All greenskins valued this fragile contraption.

Each of the eight chariots of the Broken Toe Tribe carried at least three goblins. The drivers in the front drove the chariots and cheered excitedly. This was the goblins' favorite profession. They enjoyed all high-speed racing behaviors.

The goblins in the middle held bows and crossbows, and began shooting arrows into the sky above the high ground without aiming. The three or four mounted knights on the high ground did not arouse their fear at all. Along the way, they had become accustomed to knights standing on the grasslands attracting their attention. Every knight who showed off their power was shot in the butt by their arrows.

At the very rear was a goblin tied to the right side of the chariot frame, holding a short machete. He was the most excited, shouting loudly, because in this battle they had not been able to catch up with the knights to slash them, so they could no longer restrain the restlessness in their chests: "Charge! Charge! Charge! Rush up quickly and chop all the humans and dwarves!"

The goblins on the eight chariots were all shrouded in war frenzy. They frantically whipped the giant wolves on their backs and started racing and comparing with each other. Death was completely out of their minds at this moment. They just wanted to race at top speed, smash their opponents, or crash the chariot and send themselves flying.

Su Li still underestimated the war frenzy of these goblins under the influence of the green tide. The war frenzy even controlled their minds, not considering anything else, just thinking about rushing up to chop people happily.

Before Su Li could order the knights to charge out, these monsters excitedly howled and drove their chariots onto the high ground. They didn't even have time to slow down and flew straight out, heavily falling on the west side of the high ground. Two chariots were directly smashed to pieces on the spot. These things were not sturdy to begin with, and could fall apart during racing, let alone such a violent fall.

The other chariots that did not fall apart, and the goblins on them who were knocked dizzy, didn't even have time to react before they found themselves surrounded by the human army!

The halfling archers launched the first attack, and four goblins were immediately pierced through the throat and fell off the chariot with screams.

A large number of human heavy armored knights surrounded them, and the goblins' giant wolves let out a series of miserable wails, like a dog's tail being stepped on.

There was no way. At this moment, the human knights around them were red-eyed. This was merit and honor delivered to their door. Six chariots fell from the high ground, and before they could stabilize their bodies and accelerate again, they were all chopped to pieces.

And the roars of these giant wolves intensified the frenzy of the goblin spider riders behind them. Their heads had been completely controlled by the desire for battle. Hearing all the sounds was a carnival of battle. They only thought it was the giant wolves cheering in the battle ahead.

More than eighty Forest Spider Riders, driving their eight-legged demons under their crotches, clamorously and enthusiastically launched a charge towards the knights on the high ground.

These eight-legged demons are all poisonous and have steel pincer-like jaws that can pierce hard plate armor and inject venom. Although they are not as fast as wolves and horses, these spiders can travel on the narrowest ground in the forest.

Forest Goblin Spider Riders are masters of tracking targets. They can guide their multi-legged monsters to climb to the tops of trees to lurk, and then seize the opportunity to attack their targets.

They were supposed to hide in the dense shadows of the Blood Pine Forest and launch a fatal blow against invading enemies. Even formal knights in plate armor could lose their lives in this despicable sneak attack in the dark forest.

But their minds were controlled by war frenzy, and they launched a charge on the vast and flat grassland, which was like hitting a stone with an egg!

Su Li decisively ordered: "Shock knights, mount up, bypass the high ground from the right, and cut off the monsters' retreat."

Then Su Li pulled out the sword from his waist and asked the panting Frederick Knight beside him: "My brave knight, do you still have the strength to fight with me again?"

Frederick immediately raised his halberd with his right arm and said with great enthusiasm: "The direction your sword points is the battlefield where I will fight to the death."

"Haha, good! That's the loyalty and heroic spirit I want, come with me."

With Su Li's order, the naturally powerful Harry immediately followed Su Li and galloped down the high ground to the right, holding up the Thorns family flag.

When the goblin spider riders saw the human knights disappear from the high ground, they immediately became anxious and irritable. They would never allow their prey to disappear from under their noses.

The leading goblin waved his short spear and shouted sharply: "The human things are going to run away again, chase them and kill them all!"

But as they climbed the high slope, they quickly cursed out in exasperation as well: "Damn it! The human things are as despicable as we goblins, setting up an ambush here!"
