Hogwarts Life Guide
Chapter 301 Godric's Hollow
Godric's Hollow is named after one of the Hogwarts Four, Godric Gryffindor, who was born here. Many famous wizards have lived in this small village, especially after the International Statute of Secrecy came into effect, more wizards moved here.
Although the number of wizards has long outnumbered that of Muggles, Godric's Hollow is still not a pure wizarding village. Therefore wizards avoid using magic in front of Muggles, and many magical creations like the ruins of the Potter House are hidden from Muggles.
Once in a History of Magic class, before she fell asleep, Tangning heard this sentence - the tombstones in Godric's Hollow Cemetery were filled with the surnames of ancient wizarding families.
This is actually from the book. Bathilda Bagshot, the author of "A History of Magic," lived in Godric's Hollow.
When the group arrived at the small village, Tang Ning noticed the tall obelisk standing in the center of the village at first sight. Only when they got closer could they tell that the shape of the stone monument had changed.
Statues of three people to be precise: a man with shaggy hair and glasses, a woman with long hair and a beautiful and kind face, and a baby boy sitting in his mother's arms.
No introduction was needed, everyone present knew who the statue commemorated.
It could be seen that this was not the first time that Sirius came here after being released from prison. He looked at the statue with deep eyes, remembering his old friend in his heart.Needless to say, Harry thought of his parents when he came here.
Professor Porter and Fontana also seemed to be infected by the atmosphere, looking at the statue quietly.
"I have never seen you in the village before." Not long after, an old woman holding a cane staggered over. Her slightly cloudy eyes looked at the statue and sighed, "It has been several years since strangers came here. Look at them!”
"Mrs. Bagshot, long time no see!" Sirius waved.
The old woman stared at Sirius for a long time, and rubbed her eyes twice before confirming Sirius's identity: "I seem to have seen your news in the newspaper, um, I can't remember... I'm interested. Would you like to sit in my old house?"
"It's an honor!" Sirius agreed before explaining to everyone: "Mrs. Bagshot is James and Lily's neighbor, and she has a very good relationship with Lily!"
By the time Sirius finished speaking, Bagshot had already walked away slowly, and several people quickly followed him.
Along the way, Bagshot had no intention of chatting, but Sirius quietly introduced: "Mrs. Bagshot is the author of the book "History of Magic" you use in school. She is already very old, at least many years older than Dumbledore. More than ten years older..."
In Sirius's mind, Lily once said that Bagshot was a little confused more than ten years ago, because she told Lily a lot about Dumbledore's life in Godric's Hollow, including Dumbledore and Geller. Grindelwald is a good friend.
It was obvious that Lily thought this was impossible.Although Bagshot was not confused on this matter.
It is worth mentioning that Grindelwald is the grandnephew of Bathilda Bagshot, which is why the former temporarily lived in Godric's Hollow, and then, that summer, met Dumbledore...
Hermione was more interested in Bagshot's authorship. If the timing hadn't been right and Bagshot was too old, based on Tangning's understanding of her, Hermione might have come forward to ask for advice.
Even so, Tangning could already see the undisguised curiosity in Hermione's eyes.
"Hermione, do you remember when A History of Magic was first published?"
"1947? Or 1945?" Hermione was unsure of the answer, with a slightly distressed expression on her face.
Tangning just asked casually, but he didn't expect Hermione to give the answer directly. Looking at Hermione's gaze, he felt a little confused. If he told the truth, he wouldn't be beaten, right?
"It's 1947!" Bagshot's old voice came from the front, "I didn't expect you are still using this book. It hasn't been revised for many years..."
This seemed to be the beginning of a conversation, and Bagshot was no longer silent. With the cooperation of Sirius and others, they began to chat about Mrs. Bagshot's past life, and her relationship with Lily and James.
Of course, it is inevitable to emphasize Harry's identity.
This made Bagshot talk more. She stopped at one point, stroked Harry's hair, and said with great emotion: "It's much older than it was back then!"
She didn't look confused at all at this time.
She held Harry's hand the rest of the way, talking as they walked.
"When you were about to turn one, Lily wanted to give you a half-birthday tea party, but it was a difficult time for war crimes and guests could not be invited. At that time, Lily and I arranged a lot of celebration decorations in the house. James Mu is watching from the sidelines, because he is always doing a disservice."
Harry was initially a little resistant to Mrs. Bagshot, but upon hearing his parents' names, he immediately calmed down. Before arriving at Bagshot's house, they passed by the ruins of the Potter's house.
Except for Bagshot and Sirius, everyone present saw this ruins for the first time. If they didn't know about it in advance, it would be difficult to imagine that the rampant Voldemort was defeated in this place.
The ruins were far smaller than Tangning had imagined. Apart from the larger courtyard, even if the ruins were restored, there would only be a few huts inside.
"This is the old house of the Potter family. Later, Lily moved here for safety after she became pregnant..." When Sirius said this, he couldn't help but think of the cause of his friend's death and blamed himself, "It's all my fault. If I didn't insist on letting that rat be the secret keeper..."
