Pirates: Beginning with the Patrolman

Chapter 30: Twin Capes, Whales, and Lighthouse Keepers

At Gemini Cape, the USS Liberty floats quietly on the sea.

Nami lay on her back on the deck, the blush on her face still not fading.

Remos sat next to her, his face also rosy.

Don't get me wrong, they were simply too excited. The whole up and down process just now was so stimulating. Dopamine, adrenaline and endorphins were secreted in large quantities, making them extremely excited.

"It's so cool."

Nami exclaimed, "I didn't expect there was such an exciting place in the world."

"There will be more exciting places in the future. Come on, let's move on."

Remos stood up and reached out to help Nami up.

Nami placed her hand in his palm.

"No, I don't have the strength anymore, please pull me up."

Her hands were so soft, as if they had no bones.

Remos smiled slightly and was about to exert force when the sky around him suddenly darkened.

"Huh? Why is it suddenly dark?"

Nami's eyes widened with curiosity, and then she saw an extremely large, nameless black object appear beside the ship.

How big is it?

As big as a hill.

There was also a big round eye on it, looking at them curiously. That eye alone was probably bigger than the entire Liberty.

"It's a monster!"

Nami screamed, suddenly jumped up from the ground, and threw herself into Remos' arms.

"Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, it's just a whale, not a monster."

Remos quickly tried to comfort Nami.

"Lab! Don't scare others. They are not pirates, and they are not the people you are waiting for. Get away from the exit!"

A man's voice suddenly came.

The huge whale made a "woosh" sound like thunder, then shook its body and moved away from the Liberty little by little.

But its body was so huge that even a casual shake of its tail would make the Liberty seem to be running head-on into the storm.

After the whale swam away, Nami and Remos noticed a figure standing on the cliff not far away.

This man had a saffron-like hairstyle, wore a pink shirt, and had a rather sturdy build.

"Someone?!"

Nami screamed subconsciously.

"Of course there are people here. I'm the lighthouse keeper here. My name is Crocus. Who are you? Are you pirates?"

The man stood on the shore, looking Remos and Nami up and down, and asked.

"We are not pirates, we are bounty hunters!"

Nami replied immediately.

"Bounty hunter? Humph, they are almost the same as pirates. Okay, if there is nothing else, you can leave. Don't block here, or you may collide with the ship behind you!"

Krocas snorted and turned away from the shore.

Nami and Remos looked at each other.

"Let's go take a look. We know nothing about the Grand Line. Maybe we can get some information from this person."

Remus suggested.

Nami nodded in agreement without even thinking.

The two men steered the Liberty, made a big circle in front of the Twin Capes, and then headed straight for the lighthouse not far away.

When they arrived near the lighthouse, Crocus was already waiting for them on the shore.

"I told you to leave immediately, so why are you here?"

Krocas crossed his arms and said unhappily.

"Uncle, you must be lonely here alone, right? How about we talk to you?"

This time it was Nami's turn to step forward. Girls, especially pretty girls, would usually get extra treatment as long as they were sweet-talkers.

If Remos had said this, Krocas would probably not even pay any attention to him.

But for Nami...

Krocus looked at Nami, then at Remos, and said nothing. He just turned and walked towards the lighthouse next to him.

Seeing his posture, Remos and Nami smiled at each other and immediately controlled the Liberty to dock.

A moment later, the two arrived at the lighthouse, and Krocas had walked out of the lighthouse again with a bottle of wine in his hand.

He sat down on a chair outside the lighthouse, took a sip of wine, and stared at Remos and the other man.

"Uncle, why are you looking at us like that?"

Nami asked curiously.

"You said you were bounty hunters?"

Krocus finally spoke.

"Yes."

Nami nodded.

"Where's the evidence?"

"what?"

Nami opened her eyes wide when asked.

Evidence? What evidence? Evidence from bounty hunters?

How can bounty hunters have evidence? There is no world government that issues them certificates.

"Yes, wait for me."

But Nami reacted quickly, nodded immediately, turned around and ran towards the Freedom.

A moment later, she came running back with a newspaper, which she handed to Krocas. It was the one with Remos's picture on it.

Krocas picked it up and looked at it for a few seconds, then looked at Remos and quickly put the newspaper down.

He sighed softly.

"Forgive my unkind words just now, I didn't expect you guys are actually bounty hunters. Sea Patrol Ranger? Boy, that's a pretty good title."

"Thank you."

Remus smiled and nodded.

"Actually, I shouldn't have bothered with you. After all, you are bounty hunters, and I used to be a pirate..."

"Ah? Uncle, are you a pirate?"

Nami looked at Krocus in surprise.

"Yes, when I was young, I was a pirate for a while, but then my captain fell ill, and before he died he disbanded the pirate group and turned himself in to the navy. I had nowhere to go, so I returned here to continue being a lighthouse keeper.

Kid, you are a bounty hunter, you are not going to capture me, are you? "

Krocas took another sip of wine and looked at Remos with a calm expression.

"of course not."

Remos smiled and said, "Let's just forget about the past. Since you are no longer a pirate, I naturally have no reason to arrest you."

The most important thing is that he may not be able to beat this uncle now.

This uncle may look unremarkable, but actually the pirate group he is talking about is none other than the pirate group of the famous Pirate King Roger.

Among those who could work with Roger back then, apart from the two interns Shanks and Buggy, no one was easy to deal with, not even the ship's doctor like Krocus.

Moreover, there is no bounty on Krocus, and he is no longer a pirate. There is no benefit in attacking him, and it may also cause trouble. Remos would not do such a stupid thing.

"That's good. Regarding the Grand Line, I can only say that it is completely different from the Four Seas. All your previous experience is useless here. If you want to move on and sail to the next island, this is what you really need."

Krocus said, raising his wrist and showing something like a bracelet in front of Remos and Nami.
