Pokémon: The Journey of Ordinary People

Chapter 2: Survival in the wilderness, but with abundant supplies

"How long have I slept?" Zhang Yu rubbed his eyes and found that the moon had slowly set and a little dawn appeared in the sky. His back and waist ached all over.

"Duo~"

The walking grass also woke up because of Zhang Yu's actions. It shook the leaves above its head and looked at Zhang Yu.

"Hey, Zou Xingcao, did you fall asleep next to me? I thought you went out to play." Zhang Yu touched Zou Xingcao's head.

"Goo~"

"I'm so hungry. Am I going to stay here forever?"

"Forget it, now that things have come to this, let's eat first, at least I'm still alive." Zhang Yu did not become depressed, but quickly cheered up and prepared to solve the problem of food and clothing first.

He ate a bag of compressed biscuits and drank a few sips of water, and saw that there were still five or six blue fruits left in the bag.

"How about I try it?"

He wiped the fruit clean with his hands. He was reluctant to use water as no fresh water had been found so far.

Zhang Yu took a bite of the fruit and found that it was much more delicious than he had imagined. It had a sweet texture and tasted like an orange.

"Walking Grass, try one too. I see you really like this fruit."

"Duo~!"

Walking Grass looked very happy. He took the fruit and started eating it happily.

The sun had risen completely, but Zhang Yu didn't know what time it was, and his cell phone was blown away somewhere.

Look at the position of the sun.

"It's probably 8 o'clock. While the sun isn't too hot, let's go find some fresh water and pick some more blue fruits. I remember there are still a lot on the tree."

"Zou Xingcao, I'm going to find fresh water. Do you want to come with me?" Zhang Yu said to Zou Xingcao.

"What?"

The walking grass suddenly stood up, thought for a while, touched Zhang Yu's body with the leaves on its head, and then walked towards a place.

"Hey, walking grass, where are you going?"

Zhang Yu saw the walking grass pointing ahead with the leaves on its head, and then pointed at himself.

"Want me to follow?"

"Wait for me!"

Zhang Yu put on his backpack and followed the pace of Walking Grass.

“This forest is quite big.”

Zhang Yu felt like he had been walking for more than ten minutes. He had already entered the depths of the woods and could no longer see the beach outside.

"Do~Do"

At this time, the walking grass stopped and pointed ahead with the leaves on its head.

"Do you mean we are almost there?" Zhang Yu asked.

Walking Grass nodded happily and ran forward.

"Don't be anxious, wait for me." Seeing this, Zhang Yu hurriedly followed.

Passing through the weeds and a few trees, Zhang Yu saw a small pond not far in front of him. There was a stream passing by here. The water in the pond was quite clean.

"Wow, we finally found a water source! Zou Xingcao, you are so awesome! You really helped a lot!" Zhang Yu happily touched Zou Xingcao's head, and the latter squinted his eyes comfortably.

"Duo~"

The walking grass walked to a sunny spot by the pond and burrowed into the soil in a flash, leaving only the leaves on top of its head outside.

“? Eh, is this magic? They can just drill into the soil without digging a hole? The plants have really become spirits!”

Although Zhang Yu was a little surprised, he had realized that this island was not an island on Earth, and he finally remembered it.

When he was in college, his roommate often watched Pokémon in the dormitory, and he followed him for a while when he had nothing to do. If he remembered correctly, the seagull flying in the sky should be called a long-winged gull, and this moving little guy was indeed called a walking grass.

"No way, I really traveled through time? But I didn't hear any system sound." Zhang Yu was a little overwhelmed.

Although he knew he had traveled through time, Zhang Yu was not sad about leaving his original world, because he had never been in a relationship and his parents died unexpectedly when he was in high school. The only thing that made him a little regretful was that he probably wouldn't be able to see his good friends from college again.

"I heard from Li Zi that the Pokémon world is relatively peaceful and warm, so there shouldn't be any bad guys who will take me away."

Li Zi was Zhang Yu's upper bunk roommate in college. He was a typical Pokémon fan. The two of them often ate together, and when he had nothing to do, Li Zi liked to share Pokémon stories with Zhang Yu.

However, Zhang Yu had little interest in these magical creatures. He was only interested in what Li Zi said about being able to travel freely in the Pokémon world.

"I regret it. I should have learned more about Pokémon from Li Zi earlier."

But there was nothing he could do. He decided to make the best of it and Zhang Yu regained his spirits.

He saw that the walking grass was still buried in the soil and there was no movement. Only the leaves above its head fluttered in the wind, emitting a faint green light under the sunlight.

"Is it photosynthesizing? It's a bit like plants on Earth. It's really interesting."

Zhang Yu smiled, opened his backpack, filled an empty mineral water bottle, and waited to see if he could find a dented stone so he could boil water to drink.

He was not sure if there were any microorganisms in the water. In order to avoid diarrhea, it was better to be cautious.

"rustling"

"What the hell?" Zhang Yu heard some noise coming from the woods behind him, and he hurriedly turned back to check.

"Oh my god, where did such a big caterpillar come from!"

He saw a long, big green caterpillar with red antennae on its head appear on the tree.

"What is this? I remember Li Zi told me it was called something like Rayquaza. Isn't that a bit too domineering?"

Zhang Yu looked at the bug with some confusion.

The green caterpillar looked at Zhang Yu for a while, then found nothing special and returned to the leaves to eat. Occasionally, some broken leaves would float down from the sky.

"Never mind. Now that we've found a water source, the next thing is food. Let's go pick some fruits."

"Hello, walking grass. I'm going to pick some fruits. I'll be back soon."

Zhang Yu didn't know whether the walking grass was asleep or doing something else. He only saw the leaves move a few times and then there was no movement. It was probably sleeping.

"Forget it, I'll go first." Zhang Yu put on his backpack, picked up some stones from the ground and put them in his pocket, holding a broken branch in his hand, ready to look for fruit trees.

"I hope there are no big beasts in this forest. If we encounter a bear, we will be doomed." Zhang Yu was still a little scared.

Although Li Zi often told him how interesting and harmonious the Pokémon world was, Zhang Yu also heard him say that there were big creatures like bears in it.

He carefully explored along the way he came.

"I see!"

Zhang Yu searched for about 5 minutes and saw several fruit trees in front of him. In addition to the blue fruits he had seen before, there were also some fruits that looked like peaches.

"Great, now I can fill my stomach!"

Zhang Yu walked under the tree, gently knocked the fruits off with the branch in his hand, and placed his backpack underneath to catch them.

After getting a dozen blue fruits and three peaches, Zhang Yu stopped because if he picked too many and couldn't finish them, they would probably go bad. The weather was still quite hot, so he couldn't waste them. He would pick them next time.

Through the gaps between the leaves, Zhang Yu saw that the sun was approaching noon, so he prepared to return the same way.

But what he didn't know was that after he left, several creatures he had never seen before popped out from the bushes and behind a tree and watched him.

"La da la da?" (What kind of creature is this?)

"Pikachu (???∞)" (I don't know, I've never seen it)

"Peras~" (I know, my grandma told me that this is called human)

"LaDa?" "Pika?" (Human?)

"Pelas~Pelas" (Yeah, grandma also said that humans always like to run around)

"Pika Pika!" (Let's go see what humans are doing!)

"La~Da" (No, I have to grind my teeth)

"Peras" (It's not fun, I should go home and eat)

"Pika...(?_?|||)" (Okay, I won't go then. I'm thirsty. I'd better go drink some water)

At this time, Zhang Yu returned to the pond. The walking grass had already come out of the soil. He sat by the pond and splashed the water with the leaves on his head.

"I'm back! I brought a lot of fruits!"

Zhang Yu happily said to Zou Lucao

"Duo~duo! (=^▽^=)" The walking grass happily ran to Zhang Yu's legs and rubbed his legs.

"? Why does this little guy look a bit like a cat?"

Zhang Yu thought about it, but he felt that walking grass was still quite cute.

"Here's some food for you. It's almost noon, and you should be hungry."

Zhang Yu took out a peach and handed it to Zou Zou Cao.

"Duo!" (⊙o⊙) The walking grass looked surprised, and then started eating happily.

Zhang Yu scratched his head. Hasn't this little guy ever eaten peaches before? So happy.

Then he took a peach, washed it with stream water, and took a bite.

"Wow, so sweet, so delicious."

Zhang Yu had never eaten such delicious peaches before. He could only say that this was worthy of being the Pokémon world.

After eating and drinking, Zhang Yu prepared to go back to the beach. First, he wanted to see if anyone passed by the island, and second, open areas were safer. He was always afraid that there were big creatures in the forest that might bite people.

"I'm going to the beach to see if anyone is passing by. Do you want to go with me?" Zhang Yu said to Zou Xingcao.

"Duo~" Zou Xingcao nodded and followed Zhang Yu.

The big and the small left the forest and came to the beach. Zhang Yu picked up many small branches in the forest and put them on the beach. He also picked up some fallen leaves and dead weeds and wet them with water.

Zhang Yu used a lighter to light branches, leaves and weeds. Because of the presence of water, thick smoke soon rose.

The walking grass watched him busying around from behind, and when it found a lot of smoke appearing in the weed pile, it felt very magical and looked at Zhang Yu with admiration.

“I hope someone can discover my existence.”

Zhang Yu thought silently, then he went to the broken helicopter and found a piece of iron that was bent and fell due to the impact of the crash.

The curved arc can hold some water.

"That's great. Now I can boil water. I don't know how to make pottery with clay." Zhang Yu is just an ordinary college student who has just started working. Although he has seen wilderness survival techniques, it is still too difficult for him to put it into practice himself.

While searching for the helicopter, Zhang Yu also found a big crab hiding behind the broken door. The crab was so big that its claws could probably crush his head.

Zhang Yu did not dare to act rashly, but quietly retreated.

He took the bent piece of iron back to where he had slept yesterday. He picked up a few large stones to make a circle and put some broken wood and weeds inside.

"Duo~" The walking grass rolled up some pieces of wood with the leaves on its head and handed them to Zhang Yu.

"Thank you, Walking Grass, you are so smart."

Zhang Yu poured the stream water into the depression of the iron sheet, placed it on the stone, and lit firewood to heat it.

After the water has boiled and cooled, put it back into the water bottle.

Afterwards, Zhang Yu boiled some hot water and made a bucket of instant noodles.

While boiling water, Zou Xingcao curiously wanted to touch the fire with its leaves, but Zhang Yu quickly pulled him back.

"This little thing has probably never seen fire before, it's really brave." Zhang Yu thought.

"Zuo Xingcao, this is fire. You can't touch it, or you will get hurt." He explained to Zuo Xingcao.

"Duo?"

Zou Xingcao looked at Zhang Yu's serious expression and nodded obediently.

The instant noodles were finally ready. Zhang Yu couldn’t wait to take a bite and was very moved.

"Wow, hot food is still delicious. I feel like I'm healed. Do you want a bite of walking grass?"

Zou Xingcao smelled the instant noodles and shook his head, seeming not to like it very much.

"Okay, then you can eat a fruit." Zhang Yu took another blue fruit and gave it to Zou Xingcao to eat.

After dinner, Zhang Yu looked at the smoke gradually fading and added some more firewood.

"No, I have to find a place to sleep tonight. My back hurts from sleeping last night." I did it as I thought.

Zhang Yu began to collect flat stones, of which there were many on the beach. Then he spread the stones evenly under the tree and covered them with a layer of sand to fill the gaps.

I pulled out a lot of weeds and laid a thick layer.

After doing all this, Zhang Yu lay on the simple bed and felt much more comfortable.

For safety reasons, Zhang Yu broke off many more branches and used them to cross the trees to form a circle around his resting place.

After eating the fruit, the walking grass burrowed back into the soil. Zhang Yu guessed that it was in the growth period, and it was normal for plants to be in the soil.

After completing the simple fence, it was already afternoon and the temperature had become much cooler. Zhang Yu lay on the bed to recover his strength.

------

"Haven't you found it yet? How could a good plane encounter a thundercloud? It wasn't flying very high?" a middle-aged man asked on the phone.

"No, the pilot is still in the hospital. The analyst seems to have disappeared. We have searched several islands."

"If we really can't find him, forget it. I remember that his profile said he was an orphan and he usually keeps to himself. If we do our best to find him, it shouldn't be a problem."

There was silence for a while.

"Ok."
