The CEO's 100 Billion Bride: The Secret War of the Rich
Chapter 14 It’s hard to survive alone
The Su family villa was quiet late at night, with only the faint ticking sound of the antique clock in the living room. Su Wanwan tiredly pushed open the door and walked in lightly, fearing to wake up her mother who was already resting.
However, when she passed her mother's room, she heard a low sobbing sound.
"Mom?" Su Wanwan gently pushed open the door and saw Li Yujie curled up on the bed with her shoulders trembling slightly.
Hearing her daughter's voice, Li Yujie hurriedly wiped away her tears and forced a smile, "Wanwan, you're back. Are you still in the company so late?"
Su Wanwan felt a pain in her heart, and she walked forward and gently hugged her mother. "Mom, I'm sorry, I made you worry."
Li Yujie shook her head. "Silly child, this is not your fault. It's just...it's just that I thought of your father and the life we used to live..."
As she spoke, her tears began to flow uncontrollably.
Su Wanwan gently stroked her mother's back, her heart full of guilt and heartache. Since her father passed away and the company fell into crisis, she has devoted herself to work and ignored her mother's feelings.
"Mom, I promise, I will take everything back." Su Wanwan said firmly, "We will live our previous life again."
Li Yujie forced a smile, "Wanwan, Mom believes in you. But... you have to promise me not to push yourself too hard. Your father passed away too suddenly, and I can't lose you again."
Su Wanwan's heart trembled, and her eyes became wet unconsciously. "Mom, I promise you. I will take good care of myself."
The next morning, as Su Wanwan walked into the company, she was stopped by secretary Xiao Wang.
"Boss Su, this is bad!" Xiao Wang said hurriedly, "Another group of creditors just came. They threatened that if we don't get the money today, they will seize the company's assets!"
Su Wanwan's heart tightened, "Where are they?"
“In the lobby, security is trying to control the situation.”
Su Wanwan took a deep breath and walked quickly towards the elevator. When the elevator door opened, she was shocked by the scene in front of her.
The hall was filled with angry creditors who were shouting and demanding immediate repayment. Security guards were trying to maintain order, but the situation was clearly out of control.
“Su Wanwan! You’re finally here!” A middle-aged man rushed to her. “We want money! Right now, right now!”
Su Wanwan tried to remain calm, "Everyone, please calm down. I understand how you feel, but making trouble now won't solve the problem. Please give me some time, and I promise to give everyone a satisfactory answer."
"Time?" Another creditor sneered, "What else can you Su family trust? Your father committed suicide out of fear of punishment, and now the company is on the verge of bankruptcy. Why should we trust you again?"
This sentence was like a sharp knife, piercing Su Wanwan's heart. She held back her tears and was about to speak when she suddenly heard a scream.
"Mr. Su! Something bad has happened!" It was Xiao Wang's voice.
Su Wanwan looked back and saw Xiao Wang running towards her with a pale face.
"What's wrong?"
"Your mother...your mother fainted! She is being taken to the hospital now!"
This news was like a bolt from the blue, and Su Wanwan felt dizzy. She didn't care about anything else, and immediately rushed out of the company and drove to the hospital.
In the hospital corridor, Su Wanwan anxiously waited for the doctor's diagnosis. Every minute and every second was torture.
Finally, the doctor came out of the emergency room.
"Doctor, how is my mother?" Su Wanwan asked anxiously.
The doctor pushed up his glasses and said, "The patient is out of danger for now. But her physical condition is very poor. Long-term mental stress and depression have led to severe physical and mental exhaustion. I suggest that she be hospitalized for observation for a period of time."
Su Wanwan felt relieved, but soon fell into new worries. "Doctor, how long do I need to stay in the hospital?"
"At least two weeks," the doctor said. "What the patient needs most now is rest and relaxation. I hope your family can stay with her more and give her spiritual support."
Su Wanwan nodded, "I understand. Thank you, doctor."
Walking into the ward and looking at her weak mother lying on the bed, Su Wanwan felt heartbroken. She gently held her mother's hand and whispered, "Mom, I'm sorry. It's all my fault for not taking good care of you."
Li Yujie opened her eyes slightly and smiled weakly, "Silly child, this is not your fault. Mom just... misses your father too much."
Su Wanwan held back her tears and said, "Mom, don't worry. I will take good care of you. I will also handle the company's affairs. Just focus on recuperating."
At this moment, Su Wanwan's phone suddenly rang. It was a call from the company.
"Mr. Su, I'm sorry to bother you." Xiao Wang's voice was full of anxiety. "The creditors are still making trouble in the company, and now there are reporters. They ask you to return to the company immediately for an interview, otherwise they will expose some news that is unfavorable to the company."
Su Wanwan bit her lip and looked at her mother lying on the hospital bed, her heart full of contradictions and entanglements.
"I understand." She finally said with difficulty, "I'll be right back."
After hanging up the phone, Su Wanwan looked at her mother deeply and said, "Mom, I have to go back to the company to deal with some things. You have a good rest, I will come to see you later."
Li Yujie nodded weakly, "Wanwan, you have to be careful."
After leaving the hospital, Su Wanwan sat in the car, feeling unprecedented fatigue and helplessness. Her mother was hospitalized, creditors were causing trouble, reporters were putting pressure on her... everything seemed to be heading for the worst.
But she knew that now was not the time to collapse. She had to be strong, because now she was the pillar of the whole family.
Su Wanwan took a deep breath and started the car. She knew that a more difficult battle was waiting for her.
Because she understood that this invisible war had just begun, and she had to face it all alone.
On the way back to the company, Su Wanwan's mind kept flashing back to her father's voice and smile, her mother's frail appearance, and the angry creditors in the company. She felt an unprecedented loneliness and pressure.
However, she knew she had no choice. She had to persevere in order to protect her father's hard work, to take care of her sick mother, and for all the employees who depended on her.
Because now she is the only pillar of this crumbling family.
