Rebirth of the Princess Pearl

Chapter 17 An unexpected episode in the trip to Jiangnan

In the palace, everyone was excited to hear that the emperor had decided to take everyone to the south of the Yangtze River for a trip. When the queen learned that the twelfth prince would also go with them, she was so excited that she burst into tears.

The day of departure finally arrived, and everyone gathered at the gate of the palace and embarked on a journey to Jiangnan together. Along the way, everyone laughed and talked happily, full of expectations for Jiangnan.

When they arrived at a beautiful city in the south of the Yangtze River, they were deeply attracted by the white walls, black tiles, small bridges and flowing water. Xiaoyanzi couldn't wait to jump off the carriage, look around, and praise the beautiful scenery of the south of the Yangtze River.

The group settled down in an inn first, and then began a pleasant journey to the south of the Yangtze River. They visited famous gardens and admired the unique beauty of the south of the Yangtze River. Xiaoyanzi ran around in the gardens, excited, while Ziwei quietly felt the charm of the south of the Yangtze River. Yongqi, Erkang and Ertai protected the safety of the emperor and everyone, while also enjoying the beautiful scenery.

Then, they came to a river and prepared to go boating. Xiaoyanzi immediately pulled Yongqi onto a boat, and Ziwei and Erkang also took a boat to enjoy the scenery on both sides of the river. Ertai brought the 12th prince, who was full of curiosity about the surrounding scenery and kept asking Ertai various questions. Fulun and Ji Xiaolan watched everyone on the shore with gratified smiles on their faces. Jinsuo, Mingyue, Caixia, Xiao Dengzi and Xiaozhuo were also enjoying the beauty of Jiangnan.

However, life in Jiangnan was not smooth sailing. One day, Yongqi and Xiaoyanzi were strolling on the street when they saw a girl kneeling on the side of the road with a sign in front of her that read "Burying my father and selling my body". The girl's face was full of tears and she looked very pitiful. Yongqi couldn't bear to see this scene, so he took out some money and handed it to the girl, asking her to bury her father.

The girl was so grateful that she kowtowed repeatedly. After Yongqi, Xiaoyanzi and others left, the girl kept following them. No matter how they persuaded her, she refused to leave, insisting that Yongqi had given her money to bury her father, and she was Yongqi's. Everyone felt sorry for the girl wearing worn-out shoes with her toes exposed. Yongqi felt so sorry for the girl that he couldn't bear to drive her away, so he let her go with everyone.

Xiaoyanzi didn't think there was anything wrong at first, after all, she sympathized with the girl. But as time went on, Yongqi showed more and more concern for the girl, which made Xiaoyanzi feel uncomfortable. She felt that Yongqi ignored her and put all his attention on this strange girl.

"Yongqi, why do you always care about her? She ignores me." Xiaoyanzi said angrily.

Yongqi didn't notice Xiaoyanzi's emotions, and explained: "Xiaoyanzi, she is helpless and pitiful, I just want to help her."

Xiaoyanzi became even angrier: "So you're just going to ignore me?"

The two quarreled over this, and the atmosphere suddenly became tense. Xiaoyanzi turned and ran away, and Yongqi realized his mistake.

Yongqi quickly chased after her and found Xiaoyanzi in a quiet corner. He looked at her aggrieved look and felt guilty.

"Xiaoyanzi, I'm sorry. It's my fault. I shouldn't have ignored your feelings." Yongqi said softly.

Xiaoyanzi turned her head away and ignored him. Yongqi got anxious and suddenly hugged Xiaoyanzi and kissed her. This kiss shocked Xiaoyanzi, as it was her first kiss and also Yongqi's first kiss.

After a while, Yongqi let go of Xiaoyanzi and looked at her affectionately: "Xiaoyanzi, you are the only one in my heart. I will never let you suffer any grievances again."

Xiaoyanzi's face turned red, and her anger subsided a lot.

Afterwards, Yongqi decided to send the girl to a kind-hearted official's home as soon as possible. He didn't want to make Xiaoyanzi unhappy because of this girl. The official promised to take good care of the girl, and the girl settled down in the official's home.

After solving the girl's problem, everyone continued to travel in Jiangnan. They came to an ancient town full of historical and cultural atmosphere. Xiaoyanzi was attracted by the handicrafts in the town and kept picking out various small things. Ziwei was interested in the ancient buildings in the town and carefully observed every detail.

Yongqi, Erkang and Ertai were always on guard to ensure everyone's safety. They met a local scholar in the town, who warmly invited them to his home. At the scholar's home, everyone tasted local specialties and appreciated his calligraphy and paintings. Xiaoyanzi praised the scholar's calligraphy and paintings and pestered him to teach her how to paint.

During the days in Jiangnan, everyone also participated in a local folk festival. During the festival, people wore traditional costumes, sang and danced, and it was very lively. Xiaoyanzi and Ziwei also joined in, dancing with the local people and feeling the folk customs of Jiangnan.

The journey to Jiangnan is still going on, and Xiaoyanzi and Yongqi's feelings have become deeper after this twists and turns. They look forward to having more good memories in the days in Jiangnan.
