Chapter 213 Baldhead and the Man in the Mirror

In the office of the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts, in front of a mirror, Gilderoy Lockhart's shiny bald head was reflected in the candlelight.

He was trying out several wigs on his head, muttering to himself, wondering which one he should wear.

Lockhart gently stroked his smooth scalp, then put a golden wig on his head.

She showed her white teeth to the mirror, her face instantly filled with what she thought was a charming smile, and she struck a rather seductive pose, saying, "I am Gilderoy Lockhart, an internationally renowned figure and writer, recipient of the Order of Merlin, third class, honorary member of the Anti-Dark Arts League, and five-time winner of the Most Charming Smile Award from Wizard Weekly."

"Well, Lockhart, that little fellow has let his little pet out again. I don't know if using that Harry boy as bait will work. If not, it will be a waste of a seed."

The "Lockhart" in the mirror suddenly sat on the chair in the mirror. A cold voice came, looking at Lockhart who was still fiddling with his wig with an impatient look on his face.

"Hey, man, I can't see myself anymore. What can I do? Everything I have is given by you. It's okay. We have a better seed. The quality of Hermione's seed seems to be even better. What do you think of this as my first move after returning from vacation?!"

Seeing that he couldn't look in the mirror, Lockhart asked himself directly in the mirror.

"You're right, but when are you going to go out? It's so boring staying in this damn place, Hogwarts." The "Lockhart" in the mirror crossed his legs and supported his chin.

"Almost..." Lockhart heard the words in the mirror and was about to respond, but his own reflection in the mirror beat him to it.

The "Lockhart" in the mirror was seen rubbing his fingers gently on his chin and tilting his head slightly, as if thinking seriously. After a moment, he said, "Although your golden wig is dazzling, it doesn't quite match what you are going to do. If you want to create a mysterious and trustworthy image, a dark brown wig might be more suitable. Its color is relatively low-key, not too ostentatious, and it is easy for people to feel close and trustworthy."

"And when you wear it, don't make your hair too neat like you did just now. Let it be a little messy to show a sense of vicissitudes of life, as if you have just returned from a tough battle."

"Also, don't smile so deliberately. Be a little more restrained and show a hint of fatigue, as if you have exhausted all your energy to protect the students of Hogwarts. This kind of image when facing the students, especially when you plan to use Harry as bait, will make them listen to you more."

Lockhart listened to the advice given by himself in the mirror, his eyes lit up, and he quickly adjusted his image according to what was said.

"Okay, let's go to Hogsmeade for a walk." After fixing his hair, Lockhart looked at the "Lockhart" clothes in the mirror and looked bored: "But you really don't have magic that can make my hair grow? You can even use ancient magic, this little hair problem should be just a piece of cake for you."

The "Lockhart" in the mirror rolled his eyes at him and said disdainfully, "Do you think growing hair is that easy? This involves complex magical principles and magical balance, and it's not something you can do casually. If you use magic to forcibly grow your hair, it may cause a series of unpredictable consequences, such as magical backlash or affect our ongoing plans. Just wear a wig for now, and when everything is done, it won't be too late to consider your hair problem."

Lockhart looked at the mirror with a doubtful look on his face. Finally, he sighed helplessly and muttered, "Okay, okay, I'll always listen to you. Let's go to Hogsmeade and maybe find some targets there where we can continue to plant seeds of desire. Or we can go to Knockturn Alley or Diagon Alley to ask."

The "Lockhart" in the mirror nodded. "Well, that's more like it. But you have to be careful in Hogsmeade and don't attract unnecessary attention. Although it seems to be a relaxing place, who knows if there will be Dumbledore's spies or other troublesome people."

Lockhart patted his chest and said confidently: "Don't worry, I will pay attention. I am Gilderoy Lockhart. I know how to deal with various situations."

The "Lockhart" in the mirror stood up and slowly approached the edge of the mirror, with a warning in his eyes: "You'd better really know. Don't be confused by those small favors or short-term enjoyment. Our goal is to control the entire magical world, which requires you to stay awake and vigilant at all times."

"Come on, okay, I'm tired after being out for such a long time, I'm going to rest first."

The Lockhart in the mirror yawned, and then the Lockhart in the mirror and the real Lockhart's movements overlapped.

"Okay, let's go out and see my loyal fans."

Lockhart picked up his wand and coat, dusted himself off, and walked towards the office door.

"Professor Snape, why are you here? Do you have something to talk to me about?" After opening the door, he saw a figure outside, so he leaned his elbow on the door and stood on one leg.

Professor Snape stood at the door, his eyes cold and deep. He looked Lockhart up and down, and a mocking arc appeared at the corner of his mouth. "Professor Lockhart, I was just passing by here, but I heard you talking to yourself in your office. It seems that you are planning something interesting?"

His voice was low and slow, as if every word was scrutinized.

Lockhart was startled, but he tried to remain calm. He laughed dryly and said, "Professor Snape, you must have heard it wrong. I am just practicing some speaking skills. After all, I want to present the most exciting courses to my students. As you know, I have been committed to improving students' understanding and ability to deal with the Defense Against the Dark Arts."

Snape narrowed his eyes slightly, obviously not believing Lockhart's explanation. "Really? I hope so. However, I must remind you that Hogwarts will not allow any dangerous conspiracies to breed here."

He took a small step forward, and the oppressive aura emanating from him made Lockhart unconsciously step back a little.

"Of course, of course, Professor Snape. How could I do such a thing? My loyalty to Hogwarts and its students is unquestionable." Lockhart said quickly, but tiny beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.

Snape stared at him for a moment, as if he could see through him, then turned and slowly walked away, leaving behind one sentence: "That's better, Professor Lockhart."

Lockhart looked at Snape's receding back and breathed a sigh of relief, but the uneasiness in his heart became stronger.

He knew that Snape was not someone who could be easily fooled, and he had to be more careful.

He adjusted his wig and clothes and encouraged himself again: "No matter what, I can't be affected by these little episodes. I still have important things to do. Let's go to Hogsmeade first."

After arriving in Hogsmeade, he lingered for a while in front of the door of Honeydukes Candy Shop, seemingly admiring the dazzling array of candies in the window, but in fact he was secretly observing the people coming and going, trying to find faces or potential targets that might help his plan.

Then he walked into the Three Broomsticks, which was bustling with laughter and the aroma of wine filling the air.
