Marvel crosses Star Wars, and everyone attacks the galaxy
Chapter 403: Plan to Infiltrate Behind Enemy Lines
“Very good, my young Padawan. Very good.”
Barriss Offee panted, a proud smile on her face. She said gratefully, "All of this is thanks to your careful teaching, Master Unduli."
At this moment, Luminara Unduli stood before her Jedi Padawan Barriss Offee and gently placed her hand on the young Mirialan's shoulder. With an almost motherly smile, she praised, "Every little achievement you have made is the result of your own hard work and efforts."
Hearing this, a gleam flashed in Aoife's eyes. She lowered her head slightly and took a step forward.
Luminara continued, "You will be one of the finest Jedi Knights of your generation, my Padawan. Who can predict what the future holds? When you are ready, you may face new challenges."
Barris was slightly surprised to hear this, and said nervously: "I...I don't know if I'm ready."
But then he calmed down and said, "I will do my best, Master."
In this way, the two masters and apprentices separated temporarily. Luminara now served as a mentor, shouldering greater responsibilities and obligations.
And Barriss? She has more freedom now. If she needs to go on a mission, she will fight alongside other Jedi and even the Avengers because their alliance is so close. But this may also be a symbol of her master giving her privileges within reason.
At this point, she decided to look for her friends Spider-Man and Ahsoka. As far as she knew, they were both in the Senate building. Barris felt a little restrained when putting on her new clothes, but it also symbolized her growth.
Recently, Barris has been growing in the baptism of war, not only in experience but also in physical maturity. During the days of training with her master and companions, she gradually felt an unprecedented ease and fluidity in her movements. As time went by, she began to show a new side, no longer the old image she presented on Kamino. She took off the blue hooded cloak because she had grown up and no longer needed it to cover her. Although she tried her best to maintain it, after a long period of fighting, the cloak had become tattered and even seemed a bit cumbersome in battle.
With the cape gone, she is finally able to show off her pixie-like hairstyle, though it is still held back by a headband. However, her padawan braids are still visible, draping over her right shoulder. While these changes may seem minor, they are particularly noticeable due to her long-term wearing of the cape.
In addition to the changes in her appearance, she also gradually grew in height. This growth was not only reflected in her physical body, but also changed her on certain spiritual levels.
"Hey, Barris, what are you doing here?" a greeting broke the silence.
And she wasn't the only one going through a change. Barris noticed that Ahsoka was now wearing a crimson halter dress with a gray bodysuit and diamond cutouts, with diamond armbands adorning her upper arms. Her Padawan braids were sticking out from her old hairstyle.
Physically, Ahsoka was growing just as she was, her figure becoming taller and more prominent.
Spider-Man has also become more aware of what they are doing, Barris has become more willing to explore when the time is right, and she is now more comfortable working with the Young Avengers.
When Barris saw her two friends gathered together, her eyes lit up. When she saw Anakin and Padmé with them, "I was actually looking for you guys." Barris said, "I spent some time alone with Master Luminara not long ago. Master Skywalker, Senator Amidala."
Anakin noticed that Barriss was struggling a little, "Are you sure you don't want to take a break?"
"Spending time with friends is far more rewarding than simply meditating," Barriss replied casually, and considering the smile on Anakin's face, he seemed to agree.
"Then perhaps you might consider joining us," Amidala invited. "Perhaps a calmer Jedi Knight is what is needed here."
Anakin and Ahsoka's protests sounded at the same time, like a double whistle of the wind.
"So, what exactly happened at the Senate meeting?" Barris asked everyone curiously.
"We'll explain all of this to you later," Ahsoka assured her, looking at Padmé with trust in her eyes.
Senator Nabua urged: "You must ask the Jedi Council to talk to Chancellor Palpatine."
Anakin said with a refusal expression: "Don't get me involved."
Barris said with some regret, "It looks like I'm going to be dragged into something I don't want to be a part of."
Spider-Man snorted, seeming to have a joking attitude towards all of this.
Padmé said, "It seems that peace is the only way out of the quagmire of war."
Padmé's husband Anakin argued: "It's not my job, Padmé."
Ahsoka asked her Master, "Why not?"
Spider-Man also wondered: "Yes, as a Jedi Knight, don't you have the responsibility to express your opinions and provide advice to Prime Minister Palpatine and other senators?"
Barris corrected Spider-Man: "In fact, there is a limit to what the Jedi Council can do, and we can't do anything about the Prime Minister's pressure..."
Anakin felt troubled. Faced with the three teenagers around him, he didn't know how to guide them properly.
I could only say to Padme: "I suggest that you teach these three teenagers some knowledge about politics."
Padmé said wearily, "I hope Ahsoka and Peter learned a lot after today's meeting."
"Why doesn't Barris need to study?"
"Because she seems to be the smartest person here." Padmé said with a smile.
Spider-Man couldn't help but sigh: "What I can do, she may not be able to do."
Barris couldn't help but chuckle after hearing this, and responded: "You are absolutely right." Barris chuckled. "But the fact is that I didn't witness the recent Senate meeting. So there are some things that need to be considered.
Ahsoka asked Anakin in confusion: "Master, don't you know anything about all this?"
"Does this make sense to you?" Anakin asked back.
"To be honest, I don't understand anything." Ahsoka said after thinking for a while.
Spider-Man nodded in agreement. "Not much for me, no matter how many times I attend and see these meetings."
Ahsoka expressed conflicting emotions: "I understand the evil of the Separatists, but at this meeting, almost everyone was discussing banking deregulation and interest rates, but there was little mention of why we have to fight." There was a hint of helplessness in her words.
Spider-Man said in a complaining tone: "This is a joke. I had similar experiences in school. I know the pressure of paying bills alone."
Ahsoka followed up with her own opinion: "Although this may be fraught with danger, I agree with Syndulla that perhaps we need more people to participate to alleviate the current problem."
Barris expressed her surprise: "Oh my God, Senator Sindulla actually proposed such an idea?"
Padmé responded with a more frustrated expression, "That is indeed a pity."
Anakin knew the complexity of the war. He stepped forward and tried to clarify for everyone: "The root cause of the war is that the Separatists believe that the Republic is corrupt, but they are wrong. We need to restore order."
However, Spider-Man retorted: "That sounds too easy. Didn't you see those corrupt politicians? Didn't Captain America and the others tell you about Hydra?"
Anakin quickly explained: "That's not what I meant. It's something else."
Padmé said calmly, "Perhaps talking to the Jedi Council is not the right thing for you." She then walked past Anakin. "Thank you for your help. Come on, you three."
Anakin muttered, "Oh, what about me?"
And Padmé smiled back at her husband, as if to convey some deep meaning to her secret husband, "You asked me to teach them politics."
Skywalker knew that this was not an easy task, but he could only watch helplessly as Padmé took the three teenagers to her room in the building. In her spacious office, Padmé started a conversation with the teenagers. Outside the window, the afterglow of the setting sun shone into her office, adding a touch of warmth to the room.
As the conversation progressed, Padmé gradually brought the topic to the current bill. The senator sighed and looked out the window at the busy city of Coruscant. Many ships were clearing the wreckage caused by debris and damaged buildings. This scene had been going on for some time.
"So, Senator Padmé, what are your plans next?" Ahsoka asked respectfully.
She smiled. "You can call me Padmé, Ahsoka. As Anakin's Padawan and my friend, you have that privilege, you know."
“Do we count?”
Padmé gave him a brief, mischievous smile. "Barriss, of course, but you, Peter, will need to remember your curtsy."
"Hey!"
The girls laughed at his embarrassment and Spider-Man rolled his eyes and grinned.
Barriss turned her gaze to the still thoughtful Naboo Senator, and once again she looked out the window. Padmé seemed touched by Ahsoka's question, and she began to ponder and weigh various ideas.
"If only I could speak to Senator Bontry myself," Padmé said wistfully.
"Who is that?" Ahsoka asked curiously.
"She is an old friend and mentor of mine," Padmé sighed, "and a senator of the Union of Independent Systems."
The trio was shocked by the news.
"Your friend actually has connections with the Separatists?" Spider-Man couldn't help but ask.
"One of Dooku's pawns?" Ahsoka added.
"The Separatists were once part of the Republic," Padmé reminded them, turning away from the window to face the teenagers.
“I have deep connections with the senators who left,” she continued. “Although I may not agree with their views, they are not simple pawns. They have their own reasons and considerations behind their departure, and I cannot deny their rationality.”
Ahsoka asked in a tentative tone, "So, those Separatist senators, are they really your mentors?"
Padmé's eyes took on an affectionate and evocative look. "One of them did," she answered. "Mina and Organa gave me much guidance when I became a senator here. I owe them a debt of gratitude."
Hearing this, the three teenagers couldn't help but look at each other and exchange glances, as if asking what to say next.
Ahsoka took a deep breath and spoke, "If you think negotiation is the best way to resolve the problem, then should we try to talk to her? She is your friend after all."
Barris frowned. "Well...it may not be that simple." She said, "After the war broke out, it has become illegal to talk to them."
Spider-Man and Ahsoka couldn't help but feel a little depressed after hearing this. Padmé nodded in understanding and explained, "They believe that a formal meeting will only legitimize the Separatists. Talking to them through the holographic network is a big risk. And vice versa."
The recent events on Kamino have made communication between the two organizations even more difficult." Padmé continued, "If you add the Miliaran factor..."
"However, Skywalker and I have been actively engaged in what we call negotiations," Ahsoka interjected, eliciting a chuckle from Padmé.
"He said something similar when he was my bodyguard, before the war." Padmé thought back to their time on Naboo, before the war took over their lives.
Barris, still focused on the subject of the Naboo Senator, said, “It’s a shame you can’t hold more peace talks when you’d like.
The senator's eyes lit up, as if a light bulb had turned on in her mind. She said, "You gave me a new idea."
"What on earth is this?"
Padmé gazed at the Padawans in the room, “You are Jedi Knights, and that gives you special rights.
"...Yes, we know." The two answered at the same time in confusion.
"Jedi are allowed to travel to neutral worlds like Mandalore—"
"But considering what the Republic did to Mandalore, this may not be easy." Spider-Man interrupted him, revealing his concern.
Padmé's steps were a little unsteady, and her thoughts seemed to be still wandering. "...It is indeed a pity. But if we can take a freighter from Mandalore to the Separatist world, perhaps we can find a way out." There was a kind of determination in her words.
The teenagers realized Padmé's plan after hearing this, and Ahsoka was the first to stand up and support it. "You mean, you want to use our identity as Jedi Knights to secretly transport us behind enemy lines?"
"It's a risky move, given the circumstances," Barris agreed.
"Only the two of you can help us see her. I haven't seen her and her family in a long time." Padmé argued.
Ahsoka didn't immediately retort, but gave Padmé an understanding smile. "I will help you," she said firmly.
"Will you?" Padmé asked in surprise.
"Yes, we all will," Ahsoka emphasized to her and her new found friends.
"Are we really going to do this?" Spider-Man and Barris were also surprised at this time.
Ahsoka said proudly: "Do you remember what Master Skywalker once said? Padmé should teach us more wisdom about politics."
The senator's lips curled up into a smile, "You're right."
"You know, you and my Master have more in common than you think," Ahsoka said suddenly.
This statement surprised Padmé a little, and she just gave Ahsoka a slightly nervous smile. "Uh, of course."
Spider-Man then added, half-jokingly, "So, Padme, where's our field trip destination?"
Padmé chuckled after hearing this and looked at the interaction between the three of them, as if she saw the tacit understanding and unity between them.
"Laxus."
