Marvel crosses Star Wars, and everyone attacks the galaxy

Chapter 376: Joining the War, Is It Right?

"We're still rotating most of the time, but post-battle cleanup has been our priority. After Jabium, Ultron has gone dark, with only sporadic reports of him appearing.

"Matt, are you sure it's wise for you to move around like this? Weren't you injured a while ago?

"I'll be fine, Chirrut." Matt Murdock, lawyer by day and devil of Hell's Kitchen by night, said calmly. "This isn't the first time I've been involved in something like this."

“But this is your first war. ” Baze said wearily.

"Isn't this for everyone in the galaxy?" Matt responded. "At least we're still standing, Baze."

Qilut hummed loudly, the corners of his mouth curled up. "I hope your friends are recovering well. Are they all recovered?"

"Fortunately, Captain Rogers was released from the Temple's medical unit a week ago. The rest of us are ready," Matt said. "But what about the sudden assistance from Jedda you mentioned?"

“Ah, yes, the Mandalorian Protector,” Chirrut said. “Some of the higher-ups on Jedha felt that with the tense state of the galaxy, bringing in the best help people could find would be the best option.

Baze added. “We don’t have a lot of Mandalorians that we’re hiring, they’re just a new group of mercenaries that have been calling themselves the Saboteurs.

"Destroyers?" Daredevil repeated. "They sound... unique.

"Yes, it's not the most attractive name, but their actions speak for themselves. Chirrut said with a slight smile. "They appear to be working partners with the Protector and have been helping to maintain the appearance of peace.

"Appearance is the key word, and--" Baze interrupted.

"Panic. Mass panic," Daredevil finished in a low voice. "I'm surprised we're not there yet."

“People understand more than they say when they need to,” Chirrut said. “I sense that. If they were to resist, it would only be more dire. But . . . Baze is right.”

"It's not much better here," Daredevil said. "Every day I hear the Senate floor filled with politicians yelling at each other about what to do after this whole Ultron mess."

"They are dealing with a new enemy beyond their comprehension," Chirrut said. "An enemy that takes no sides."

"It's a way to put a genocidal, extinction-oriented murder machine in place. Daredevil said with a wry smile.

"Mass extinction," Baze repeated in an annoyed voice. "Is that really what this Ultron wants?"

"This isn't the first time he's tried to do this." Daredevil revealed, startling his two friends. "He tried to do this back home, back home. If Ultron has been here since the Avengers arrived..."

"Dark times are coming," Chirrut said solemnly. "I'm afraid not even the Force can tell us what will happen next."

There was silence among the three of them for a moment, a sense of foreboding filling the air around them and the entire galaxy.

This is how the galaxy has felt since Ultron's initial attack on it and then his victory over Jabium.

Daredevil sighed, breaking the silence as he tapped his cane on the ground a few times.

"I guess all I can say is let's just stay connected and keep in touch with each other no matter what happens."

"It seems that's all we can do." Baze grunted in agreement.

"We'll keep in touch, my friend," Chirrut promised. "If anything happens..."

“I’ll let you know. You need to do the same.

"Take care of yourself, Matt." Baze saluted slightly, and then he and Chirrut ended the holographic transmission.

The blind Brooklyn lawyer could only shake his head and leave the room.

"How did it turn out like this?" Matt asked himself.

A few months ago, he took out a big crime lord on Earth. Then he was recruited by the Avengers, and then he found himself in the middle of a galactic war.

The Devil of Hell's Kitchen briefly recalls one of his old mentors, Stick, and how he used to talk about an upcoming war. He's fairly certain this isn't the war he was talking about.

Daredevil put away his staff and walked down the halls of the Jedi Temple to the room where he and the rest of his friends and comrades lived.

He passed some Jedi Knights, nodded to a few who greeted him, and then his ears perked up when he heard a familiar set of voices coming from the room he was heading to.

“Are you sure you don’t need any help?” a female voice asked, concern evident in her tone. “I know how busy you are, I just thought—”

"Don't worry, baby." A male voice responded, with a tone of assurance in his voice. "You have your own things to do and people who need you, and I have my own things to do. If I did need any help, you would be the first person I would call...after the Avengers, the Jedi, and the Republic Army."

"Sam~~" the woman's voice whined, causing the avian avengers to laugh.

Daredevil couldn't help but chuckle to himself when he heard this.

This little exchange continued for a few more moments until something on the woman's side caught her attention.

“Oh, I need to take care of this. She said. “Can I see you later tonight?”

"You promised, didn't you?"

Although he couldn't see it, Daredevil thought the woman Falcon was talking to was smiling positively.

"I love you." She said sincerely and Daredevil had to stifle a coughing laugh as he heard Falcon mutter a "I love you too" to her.

He chuckled to himself and knocked on the door before it opened.

"Matt."

"Sam." Matt nodded at him. "Is that Dani? I heard her voice just now.

Falcon twisted his body, which made the blind lawyer smile in amusement. He coughed and muttered something to confirm that it was indeed Dany.

After Falcon returns to Coruscant with the team he went with to save Cap, the Avengers come across an amusing sight as a rather attractive pink-skinned alien practically pounces on Falcon and passionately kisses him. Apparently, she's been worried that Falcon isn't contacting her and doesn't give her a chance to respond, because she just keeps kissing him.

Spider-Man seemed to notice the woman at the time, as she greeted Wilson warmly after she left him. She was very excited to meet the Avengers team.

When asked about her relationship with Falcon, Dani surprised him a bit by jumping into his arms and declaring herself his girlfriend.

The Avengers are a little surprised that Falcon doesn't reject the idea, and he says that he's actually grown into someone who actually cares about Dany.

This, of course, was met with a more public display of affection from the lady.

Her species is called the Zelteros, and they are known to produce pheromones towards those who are attracted to them, and when Dany talked about how she met the Falcon, it was a pretty fairytale moment, so to speak.

During the sloat rampage, a limb from one of the larger creatures struck the balcony where she was standing, and Falcon swooped in to catch her.

When she describes him grabbing her like a hero from an old storybook, the reaction is almost instantaneous.

This only added fuel to everyone's teasing of Falcon, who saw it on his friend's face when he saw the way Dany acted around him.

Though judging by the comments Matt heard, the pilot has nothing to be ashamed of, because in War Machine's own words, she's "stupidly sexy and attractive. Beyond everyone's fantasy."

So, the pride of the Falcon is back.

"She's just caring about me," Falcon said casually.

"She seems to do that often." Daredevil smiled.

"Yeah..." Falcon rubbed his neck, and Daredevil noticed his flushed face and lips twitching upwards. "She's really sweet."

"Did you take her out on a date?"

"Yes," said Falcon.

Daredevil frowned at that. "Aren't you sure she's not just trying to--"

“That’s what I thought at first.” Falcon interrupted Daredevil before he could finish. “But… apparently she’s more than that.

Daredevil remained silent, motioning for Falcon to elaborate further.

“She actually did what I did on Earth. Falcon spoke with a soulful expression and tone. “Since this war started, she’s met with some of the refugees and even clones and other soldiers from certain planets and got them to talk about what they saw during the war. Helped get through this.”

"Like your old job at the VA in Washington, D.C." Daredevil said, recalling his previous conversation with Falcon about what he did before joining the Avengers.

"Yes, it is," Falcon said approvingly. "She has a good heart. She cares deeply about people and loves to help them.

"like you."

Falcon shook his head, looking a little shy. "Don't think I was a big help."

"Saving the world from Hydra, being an Avenger, and helping the Veterans Group at the same time, I think it's very helpful and beneficial to the world," Daredevil retorted in the tone he usually reserved in court.

Falcon stared at the Manhattan native, then breathed slightly. "That's your lawyer's instinctive guess, isn't it?"

Daredevil simply adjusted his tie, cleared his throat, and raised his lips. "Mr. Wilson, I will neither confirm nor deny this claim.

Falcon just snorted. "I should have expected you to say that."

Daredevil just hummed and looked around.

"Where's everybody?" he asked, shrugging.

"Around." He said vaguely. "I know Rhodes and Quicksilver are in town, at least I think they are. Natasha is with Steve, Scott, and Hope. Peter is... I don't know where the kid is, I think T'Challa is meditating."

Daredevil just nodded.

"We later had a meeting with the Jedi," Falcon mentioned. "Guess what its purpose was."

"Ultron."

"Yeah, it's about Ultron."

Daredevil sighed tiredly.

"I don't know when there will be anything else besides him."

"Hey, now we're diving headfirst into a war in the galaxy."

“I think technically most of us don’t have that much of a say.

"Nevertheless, we're still involved." Falcon crossed his arms, looking conflicted. "Not sure if this is the right decision."

"Did you decide from the beginning?" Daredevil asked, and Falcon thought back to when he, Captain America, and Ant-Man woke up on the planet Naboo.

The pilot shook his head. "No, I think when we saw those walking tin cans attacking an innocent town, we made our choice.

Daredevil frowned at the thought of innocents being dragged into the war, a sentiment that only deepened as Ultron launched his attack on the entire damn galaxy.

"Are you going to attend the Jedi and Force meeting today?" Falcon asked the blond lawyer, who shook his head.

"I think I'll give myself some time." Daredevil said. "Meditate. Take advantage of our moment of respite before things get too bad.

Falcon hummed. "You're not wrong. See you later, Matt."

Daredevil nodded and turned to leave.
