Marvel crosses Star Wars, and everyone attacks the galaxy
Chapter 359: The Battle in Kathmandu
"What's going on?" Strange asked loudly. "What's going on?"
The king and Mordo quickly opened the doors to the three temples, saw that all was well, and then closed the doors.
"It's not from any sanctum..." Mordo muttered, clearly unsure of what was going on.
"Lord Mordo!"
All six of them turned around to see a young magician in his early twenties running into the room with a panicked look on his face.
Mordo immediately walked over to her and placed a hand on her shoulder. "What's wrong?"
"Kama-Taj," she gasped. "It's under attack!"
Mordo now had a horrified expression on his face. "Who? Caecilius?
"Pretty bold move, don't you think?" Robbie said, undoing the chain from his chest and letting it dangle from his hand. "Didn't we just say -"
"No. Not him," said the young wizard. "It's worse."
Celeste's eyes widened as she realized who had dared to attack the main bastion of the mystic arts.
"Moore," she said loudly.
“Shit, they’re coming!” Bucky said, and ran away without warning.
Robbie immediately followed him, followed by Celeste and Mordo.
"Wait, wait, what?" Strange said with a hint of fear. "Moore? The guy you just talked about, he has so many demons in his body?
"Yes," Wang said, clasping his hands together to form some kind of sphere. "Doctor Strange, I would like you to help me if you are willing."
Although there was hesitation in his eyes, Strange stepped forward and raised his hands.
"So what are we doing?" he asked.
"Put up a barrier to repel any monsters Moore sends us," the king said bluntly. "Follow my hand and move it in the opposite direction."
Strange could only nod, still obviously startled by what was happening, and began to mimic Wong's movements, albeit in the opposite way of what he had instructed.
Meanwhile, Bucky is seen running towards the exit of Kamar-Taj, holding a glowing staff and wearing some kind of bracer on his metal wrist.
With his super-enhanced legs, he ran ahead of most of the others, with only Robbie, Mordo, and Celeste keeping up with him.
They soon reached the exit and rushed out of the sanctum sanctorum to see the Rak ghost tormenting the people of Kathmandu.
“Rely on the Force,” Celeste whispered in horror.
It didn't take long for Buggy and the others to realize that the Rakki that was wreaking havoc in front of them was not the usual Rakki they had encountered before.
Most of them have strange tendrils and appendages sprouting out of them.
Some had snake tails, others had curving goat horns. There were bat wings, overly muscular arms, and other nondescript appendages that belonged to no known animal found on Earth.
"Great~ They're all full of demonic energy now." Robbie said, lighting his chains on fire and then whipping the nearest demon, the Rakki.
The chain went straight through the Rakki's chest and quickly wrapped around the poor deformed human, who was quickly reduced to ash.
“We have to get these people to safety,” Bucky yelled over the chaos. “Keep these bastards in a corner and stop them from running rampant and spreading this damn plague.”
"Oh, fuck!" Robbie said in horror, looking ahead.
All eyes turned to a street burning with flames and terror...
And the Rak ghost literally burst out of the ground, looking more and more like a demon.
"Fuck," Barnes couldn't help but say. "He's not even infecting people with it. They're just being created now.
"We need to eliminate them now," Mordo emphasized.
Celeste nodded, igniting her lightsaber. "Yes, we should—"
Before she could utter a word, golden symbols suddenly descended upon a large group of mystics.
The symbols filled the magician, disappearing when they came into contact with any body the symbol would land on, and a golden aura surrounded each symbol.
Then, the air around them seemed to crack and split, and out came none other than the Ancient One.
The Sorcerer Supreme.
She stood, facing the growing army of Rak ghosts with a determined gaze.
The Ancient One glanced back at the many students and two guests living at Kamar-Taj.
"These runes will help protect you from the Rakki plague," she said, her voice amplified by magic for all to hear. "Mordo, your mission is to try to keep the people of this city safe. Use the Water of Idun to help those who are infected. The rest of you, do your best to kill any Rakki you see. They will show you no mercy."
Mordo nodded and spoke loudly, causing most of the wizards on his right to follow him.
The rest were divided into groups of three to seven and scattered across Kathmandu.
Only Bucky, Celeste, and Robbie remained with the Ancient One.
"How long can your barrier last?" Robbie asked immediately.
"You don't need to think about that, Mr. Reyes." The Ancient One said. "Zarathos will just burn the plague away from you."
"Well, there's no need to back down." Robbie looked up, and immediately, Ghost Rider replaced him.
He proceeds to use his Hellfire to launch himself into the air, throwing his Chain of Flame to grab a flying Rakki and bring it down to burn.
Bucky examined it, then snorted. “I doubt it’ll last long, but I’ll take advantage of every moment of it.”
The Ancient One chuckled. "I am the Sorcerer Supreme, Mr. Barnes. It will last as long as I allow it to.
“Glad to hear that,” Buggy said, spinning his staff. A knife popped out from the end of the staff and quickly pierced the head of the Rakki that pounced on him.
Celeste ran forward, using a spell-enhanced Force Pull to bring a Rakki closer to her so she could cleave it in half.
Gu Yi watched all this quietly and heard a violent buzzing sound coming from behind him.
She looked back at Kamar-Taj, which was glowing with a mysterious barrier that had just been erected around the entire building.
"King." Ancient One thought with a smile. "He has considered everything very carefully."
Without even glancing, Ancient One raised her hand and a strange symbol appeared and expanded into a shield, blocking the Rakki that was lunging at her.
The Sorcerer Supreme slowly turned her hand and clenched it into a fist.
In return, the magical barrier that blocked the Rakki in front of her ensnared the demonic Sith Spawn and began to crush it.
It screamed loudly and writhed in agony while the uncomfortable sounds of skin burning and bones breaking were heard as it was reduced to nothing.
The Ancient One then extended her other hand, forming a glowing rune fan, and she opened her clenched fist to form another.
She quickly leapt into the air and began releasing spells in all directions, targeting any and all Rakki she could see or detect.
Elsewhere, Bucky, Celeste, and Robbie are fighting a horde of Rakki who are bound together by the Knight's melted chains.
All those at the edge of the cluster were burned directly by the molten iron, but those in the center were trying hard to break free.
Just as some start to jump out, Celeste and Bucky kill them off in quick succession.
Once the range was reduced, Robbie pulled on his chains, the links ablaze with hellfire, melting the flesh of the Rakki and tearing them apart.
Over on Mordo's side, some of his students were leading civilians away from the battle, with him acting as the vanguard.
Any Rakki that has the foolish idea to chase them will be greeted by the great force of Master Mordo.
He dealt with another Rakki and looked up to see two more rushing towards him, only for micro portals to appear in a split second, closing just as fast as they had opened.
The portal closed in the ghouls' bellies, tearing them to pieces.
From another portal, out walked Wong and an obviously reluctant Doctor Strange.
"How bad is it now?" Wang asked immediately.
“Chaos,” Mordo said bluntly. “Mul is summoning Raggul Ghul, and not just infecting people with the plague. Worse, they are markedly different from what we’ve seen before.”
The king understood instantly, and he summoned a portal for a Rakki to leap through, and created another portal for it to pounce through and grab a fellow Sith creature in its teeth.
Strange watched all this with a look of deep annoyance on his face.
"Stephen," Mordo said, his voice firm, getting his attention. "You're a doctor, aren't you? Some of the men have been taken to safety, they are undoubtedly wounded. Go find them and see what you can do to help them. If need be, use your sorcery to stave off the plague, if there are any infected."
The surgeon stuttered slightly, but once he saw a brother and sister being escorted to safety, his face hardened and he immediately and resolutely chased after them.
"We need to find Moore," Mordo said. "He is undoubtedly here."
“It shouldn’t be difficult to find him, unless he’s hiding his presence. The king said, releasing a spell that cut several Rak ghosts. “The most important thing is to contain and destroy these rampaging spawn.”
"Then let's continue." Carl said, leaping high with Valtor's jumping boots and knocking down a flying Rak Ghost with the scepter of the Living Tribunal.
Wang, along with several other magicians and apprentices, summoned multiple portals for them to pass through and attack the Rak ghosts rampaging through Kathmandu.
