Marvel crosses Star Wars, and everyone attacks the galaxy
Chapter 321 Gladiator - Steve Rogers
......
dark.
An endless darkness.
That was all he could see.
That's where he was at the time -
*BOOM*
“Let’s move, Commando!
Explosions and gunfire rang out around the man as he walked through the forest in winter, holding a round shield in one hand and a conventional pistol in the other.
Around him were troops charging into battle.
“I will accompany the team to the end with you.
That voice…it belonged to the best friend he had lost in this war.
“You won’t be alone.
“A lot has changed since you disappeared.
“Ella, Ella Secura.
"What is our action plan, Captain..."
"..."
“Steve!
In an instant, Steve Rogers' eyes snapped open and he sat up immediately. After a brief dizziness, he woke up.
With a slight cough, the super soldier carefully stood up, taking a moment to look around to see where he was.
"Looks like it's time to move to a new home." Steve muttered to himself.
This is the same cell that Ultron has kept him in, and given to some unusually shady looking aliens and humans.
He was quickly knocked unconscious by an electric shock, and woke up perhaps hours later in the same cell but on another ship with some sort of collar around his neck.
At this point, the collar around his neck began to irritate the skin on his neck.
Captain America now finally understood the frustration people felt when wearing a cast and the annoying itching that came with it.
Unfortunately, he couldn't take it off now.
Knowing that there was nothing he could do but spend the better part of the day in his cage, Steve jumped up, grabbed the bars of the cell above him, and started doing pull-ups.
This is what he has been doing for the past few days.
His only interaction with his caretakers was that they provided him with food and water, and that was it.
The men either yelled at him or simply ignored him, and they learned to always have the collar he wore ready to keep him in submission.
Cap continued to work out until finally, a Devaronian guard walked up to his cell.
"Prisoner 1918."
Steve nonchalantly stood up from his push-ups, his back to the guard, his head tilted to show he was listening.
"Prepare for transport," the Devaronian whispered. "Now is the time for you to work for your worth."
Of course, this doesn't exactly answer any questions for the First Avenger, but the door opening for him and the remote in the horned alien's hand suggest that he's finally getting out of his dingy little cell.
Cap was led through a series of corridors, accompanied by a faint, unidentified rumbling sound.
Steve scrunched his face and tilted his head forward, trying to determine what the sound was, but couldn't put his finger on it properly.
Then he found himself in front of a metal door, and without a word the Devaronian held out an old rusty sword for him to hold.
"This is where you start." The horned alien grunted. "It's time to prove if you're worth the price."
Confused by this, Steve tentatively took the blade from the alien's hand, and in a split second it suddenly dawned on him where he had been taken.
After a while, the metal door opened in front of him and he was immediately pushed up.
He took a stumbling step forward and once he had found his footing he stood up straight and stared out at the large arena he now stood in, the roar of the crowd echoing throughout the area.
"You've got to be kidding me," Steve muttered in disbelief.
The arena was circular in appearance, without a roof, and the stands were filled with scum and villains from all corners of the galaxy.
“Great…I’m in the arena.
He really thanked God that Tony wasn't here right now, or he would have laughed at him.
“That’s not even shown in the movies,” Steve thought to himself.
Honestly, if anything, this feels more fitting for Thor, who always boasts about his fighting prowess and love of a good fight.
Cap would really like to trade places with Thor right now, wherever he is.
Steve took a moment to look around and analyze his surroundings. There were many pillars, both standing and torn down, a variety of weapons scattered on the ground, and many bodies.
There were also some dead, decaying creatures that even Steve couldn't identify, and overall...
The situation looks bad.
Just when Steve was about to ask him why he was here—
"Ladies and gentlemen!" the arena announcer's passionate voice boomed over the crowd. "I welcome you once again to the SLEHIRON Gladiator Pit! Only the greatest and fiercest warriors may come to test their mettle across the galaxy to prove that they stand above the rest!"
The crowd cheered so loudly that the entire arena practically rumbled.
"Now, it is time for me to introduce to you our combatants for this tournament." The audience heard the announcer laugh with delight. "But today, my audience, I have the honor of introducing to you a man who has achieved galactic fame."
The crowd began to cheer and yell in anticipation.
“As war rages across the galaxy, heroes and villains emerge on both sides of the conflict. The announcer enthuses. “Tall tales of extraordinary feats performed when death should have been the only outcome. To many, we call them the Jedi Knights of the Republic. But here comes a man who fought with such brilliance that he went toe-to-toe with the Separatist forces and was a soldier of the highest caliber. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you Captain Rogers. Leader of the Avengers!”
Steve frowned slightly at the deafening roar of the crowd. It seemed that he was more popular than he thought.
Or maybe the announcer is just a hype man, who knows.
Steve felt a pang of irritation as he realized who and where Ultron had sold him to.
But as this annoyance erupted, a sense of fear followed.
He was all alone here in who knows what planet, let alone what galaxy. Being a shrewd man, he had taken the time to get acquainted with maps of the Milky Way, and if he had to guess, it would probably be the Outer Rim.
But right now, it didn't matter where he was... well, not really, except that Steve knew he had walked headfirst into a life-or-death situation...
This was nothing new, but he still had a big idea of what he was going to do.
The collar around his neck made it impossible to escape for the time being as long as it remained attached to him.
He stopped these idle thoughts when the announcer began talking again.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the moment you have all been waiting for. Our newest combatant, Captain Rogers, faces off against..."
Steve tensed up and glanced down at the broken sword in his hand.
It was a bit uncomfortable, but it wasn't like he was defenseless against it.
He, like his friends Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Aayla, had been practicing and sparring with the Jedi Knights in various forms of lightsaber combat, and had a pretty good grasp of some basic moves in each style, but due to the war and searching for the other Avengers, he hadn't had much time to really devote himself to it.
Plus, he's feeling really insecure right now without his iconic shield.
"Just adapt to the situation," Steve thought to himself as he got into the starting position of the Atari 4.
A hole opened in the ground and a ramp was forming. Soon after, something jumped out before the entrance closed.
The newcomer was essentially a feline with sharp claws. It had spikes on its back, a long forked tail and a wide mouth, and black stripes on its body. It actually looked a little familiar to him.
What is this thing called?
"Nexu——"
“Let’s see how our newest gladiator fares against this beast.
Nexu gave a sharp roar and the crowd roared, eager to see battle and blood.
The feline seemed to sniff the air for a moment before its four eyes suddenly fixed on Captain Rogers' figure and growled hungrily.
Some saliva dripped from its mouth, and Steve gritted his teeth, realizing that this creature had most likely not been fed for some time. It looked very hungry now, so even if it seemed to lack strength, an animal that had not eaten for several days would definitely be abnormally deadly.
Steve swung his sword and took a calm breath, waiting for Nexu to pounce. It slowly began to walk towards Captain America, and did not start to attack immediately, but instead circled around Captain America. What a smart beast.
Steve shifted his stance now, holding the sword sideways in front of his eyes, waiting for the creature to strike.
With a loud roar, the Nexu rushed towards Steve, who was a little surprised by its speed.
Instinctively, Cap leaped to his feet and then performed a spinning heel kick, quickly sending Nexus to the side.
It fell to the ground in a moment of unconsciousness, and Steve took the opportunity to rush forward and stab the creature in the chest. It struggled and roared in pain from its toothy mouth.
"By force! Ladies and gentlemen, can you believe it?! Captain Rogers killed his first SLEHEYRON gladiator opponent in one fell swoop! It was a child's play for this fierce warrior.
Steve just sighed and quickly pulled out his rusty sword, flicking the blood off it and staring at the dead animal with a frown.
He's not a vegetarian, but this is just an unnecessary battle.
Before he could think about it any longer, another door opened and two more Nexus crawled out.
In a flash, they spotted Steve and without hesitation began to sprint towards him.
The American team reacted quickly.
When the nearest one was only a meter away, he leaped forward, using its head as a springboard to leap towards another Nexus that leapt into the air towards him.
He turned just in time and managed to drive the blade into the Nexus's side, splashing some blood on his face as he fell to the ground.
The stabbed Nexu twisted in pain for a few seconds and let out a painful wail. Steve quickly pulled out the sword and stabbed it in the head, killing it completely.
As soon as he finished this action, more holes appeared on the ground and walls, and nearly six more Nexu appeared.
"This is never ending," Steve whispered to himself, realizing that in the fight for his life, things were only just beginning.
He jumped as a Nexus came at him, and he ended up landing on the creature's back.
It let out a sharp cry and broke into a run, trying to throw Cap off of it.
Cap managed to get a firm grip on the feline's fur and brought his fists up high to strike at the beast.
With all his strength, he brought his fist down hard on the Nexus' head. The creature stumbled from the force, but it managed to keep running. Seeing the short-lived effect he had on the beast, Steve began to repeatedly strike the Nexus in the head until the Nexus went limp and Steve used the momentum to leap forward.
After a moment, he turned around and saw another Nexu running towards him.
Cap exhaled, swallowing his exhaustion, and raised his fists, ready to take on the oncoming attacks of the alien beasts that were charging towards him.
"I could fight all day," Steve whispered to himself, steeling his body and mind for what was undoubtedly going to be a long day.
