Marvel crosses Star Wars, and everyone attacks the galaxy
Chapter 195 We Are Protectors 1
The bar was bustling like most bars.
The booths, stools and tables were packed with many customers and drinks were everywhere.
However. . .
A particular booth inside the bar was given a large berth by other customers as they drank in relative peace. The group consisted of several heavily armed individuals who sat at a round table with drinks in their hands and wearing T-mask helmets.
Two of them wore green armor, while their companions were mostly black and gray.
The three of them were about the same age, with the one in black and grey armor being about two years younger than them.
He has black hair and a small scar on the right side of his chin. His most distinctive feature is his steel-gray eyes, which are filled with a cold aura, showing a warrior who has experienced many battles.
The man to his right sat in the middle of the three, blond and blue-eyed, his arm draped over the helmet in his lap.
To his right was their last companion and friend, exhaling a satisfied breath after a moment and sipping a drink. His eyes were blue, like the one in the middle, but his were slightly darker.
Now, besides the unifying armor these three men possess, there is another aspect that binds them together as comrades, allies, and friends.
"So what would Spall tell you, Finn?" the steel-eyed man asked.
"Nothing for now," Finn said, wiping his helmet.
“Why do you ask, Dax?" the buzzed man asked, leaning back in his seat. "I thought you'd appreciate the chance to take a nap."
“Come on, Toby, I’m still a Mandalorian. I can only sit still for so long. Dax waved his hand, “Besides, we already took a nap on the way here.
"Why do you always nap, Dax?" Finn asked. "You sleep more than all of us. How do you do it?"
Dax just shrugged. "None of your business."
Finn muttered to himself, patting Toby on the shoulder. "Come on, you two, Spar might want a report on our latest work."
Nodding, the other two picked up their helmets and the three left the building and headed for the ship they affectionately called "Sleek." It was a black Komk-class starfighter given to them by Mandalorian Motors, the primary starship used by many Mandalorians.
It is 68.1 meters long and features broad, angular, rotating wings, as it is currently seen when parked upright. In flight, the wings can rotate around the main body of the ship, improving maneuverability. While they could have had a smaller version of this ship, they are a team.
Climbing aboard, they were airborne soon after, with Toby at the helm and Dax as co-pilot. Flying into the vastness of space, Toby input the coordinates and they entered hyperspace.
The trip was relatively short, returning to the skies above the Mandalorian-occupied planet of Concordia Dawn. The planet had long since become the base of operations for the Protectors of Mandalore, led by the new true Mandalorian spirits. Not the pretenders of Mandalore itself, nor the dastardly group that lived on the moon of Concordia, the Death Watch.
Descending to the planet side, Toby made it to the main camp where the Protectors used for operations.
Landing near where many of the other ships were stationed, the three Mandalorians disembarked and were greeted by several other Mandos, all of whom happily greeted them.
Once inside the camp, all three paused as they saw Spall standing there waiting for them to return.
"Mandalor," the three said in unison, bowing their heads in respect.
"Do I consider the mission a success?" Spall asked, approaching them.
“If it weren’t like this, would we still be here?”
Spall smiled and pointed to the largest tent in the camp, and the three followed him.
"Glad to hear that," Spahr said quietly. "I hope you're not having any problems."
"Except that Dax is sleeping next to dynamite again, no, not really," Finn huffed.
Dax quickly elbowed his teammate in response before composing himself in front of their leader.
"Okay. Now then..." Spall walked over to a nearby holo-table and typed something in. An image soon appeared. "I have a new mission for you and your team."
Finn took off his helmet, as did his two friends, and all three stared at the holo-table, showing them a familiar planet.
"What is this, Mandalore?"
"The Aldor have been harassed by raiders and pirates lately," Spar said grimly. "As you all know, the Mandalorians have been in danger due to our divisions."
They were well aware that their people were now divided into factions, scattered across the galaxy.
"What do you want us to do?"
“Isn’t it obvious? Liberate this place, that’s it,” Dax said.
"You're right, but there's more to it than that," Spall told them.
"what?"
"one person.
Finn's eyes narrowed. "Could it be... him?
Spall complained. "Possibly. But I have no such luck. This is really just one clue, and the only one I've had lately."
The three Mandalorians knew exactly who Sparrow was referring to. He had always wanted to track him down personally, and as three of his most trusted friends and allies, he understood this man and the significance he held.
"We will find him, Mandalore," Finn promised.
"Don't get your hopes up, but I'd appreciate it if you did." Spall then gave his next instruction. "Go find the forge before you leave." He told the trio. "In addition to restocking your armory, I'm sure she has something else for you three."
"Isn't it cool?" Toby asked with a smile.
"You'll see."
Spahr then returned to his own equipment and the three men left.
Walking out of the big tent, Finn led Toby and Dax to the work place of the Guardian Blacksmith.
The place itself is quite different as it is a solid single-storey building as it was built and designed by the master forge himself.
Nodding to the other two Mandalorians who were talking outside the forge, they walked inside.
Even with the protection of their protective clothing, they were challenged by the heat of the forge room. Not really because of the actual heat of the kiln, but because of the intensity of the radiation from the kiln master.
The forger was working intently, making sure there were no mistakes or weaknesses in the craft. The dedication and discipline that went into it all could almost be felt by anyone who came within earshot.
"I think you three know what needs to be done?" the forger said, not taking her eyes off her work.
"Yes, Master Forge," they said respectfully.
Becoming a Mandalorian Forgemaster is a commitment and understanding, being able to use prior knowledge and innovation to craft that will advance the clan they primarily serve.
After hammering the metal, she slowly quenched it into a nearby oil pan. Flames ignited upon contact, and the forger quickly turned her attention to the newcomer.
"If you'd like to follow me."
Not far from the central kiln, she opened a compartment in the wall, revealing an assortment of Mandalorian weaponry. Vibroblades, rifles, and more. She walked to a lower compartment, opened it, and took out some small containers. Opening the first page, she introduced the contents to the three.
"I believe it's time for you three to have these." she said. "Whispering Birds are a great defense against multiple enemies. Use them with caution, in anticipation of what may come."
"Of course." The three said in unison.
She handed them the crate of Whispering Bird weapons, then listened to their requests for what they needed to add to their own armory.
"Where are you going?" the Forgemaster asked, as she was approving most of their requests.
"Odo, the Forge Master." Dax replied immediately.
"Oddo," she repeated in a low voice. "This planet is of great importance to our people. I pray for your success, Protector.
"If we don't succeed, we'll die."
"I know. For our culture and our heritage," the Forger said. "That's it."
"That's it." Someone else said loudly.
