Chapter 203: Anxiety in the Kingdom of Alterac
Although General Haas was extremely brave, he also felt unprecedented pressure in the face of such a powerful enemy. He knew that if he continued to hold on, more soldiers would die in vain.
Finally, under a fierce attack, the defense of Alterac completely collapsed. The soldiers began to flee, and although General Haas was extremely unwilling, he had to order a retreat. He led the remaining soldiers and retreated inland with difficulty under the pursuit of the orcs, his heart filled with the pain of failure and confusion about the future.
As the last line of defense of the Alterac soldiers collapsed, the orc army poured into Southshore Town like a tide. Their cheers and war roars intertwined to form a deafening carnival.
Nanhai Town, a once prosperous and peaceful town, is now left with only broken walls and corpses scattered all over the ground, telling of the cruelty and ruthlessness of the war.
General Haas looked at his homeland, with complex emotions in his eyes. He knew that this defeat was only temporary, and the people of Alterac would not succumb to the tyranny of the orcs. They would one day regain their lost territory and let peace and light shine on this land again.
The orc warriors who successfully occupied the South Sea Town waved their weapons excitedly, their faces filled with the pride and joy of victory. They trampled on this land that once belonged to Alterac, turning everything into ruins.
On the streets, flames were blazing, houses were burned, and smoke rose up, covering the sky. The orcs sat around the fire, drinking strong wine, eating barbecue, and sharing the joy of victory. Their laughter and conversations echoed in the night sky, forming a sharp contrast with the continuous explosions and building collapses in the distance.
In the square in the center of the town, a group of orcs gathered around their leader and held a celebration ceremony. They raised huge animal bone cups and toasted to the sky, thanking the beast god for granting them victory. The leader waved his battle axe and delivered an impassioned speech, his words full of contempt for the enemy and expectations for the future.
In this sea of revelry, some orcs chose to stand quietly aside, looking at everything in front of them. They might be thinking about the meaning of this war, or they might be remembering their fallen comrades, but no matter what, they could not deny the joy of victory.
The revelry lasted all night until the first rays of sunlight shone on the land at dawn. The orcs gradually entered a state of peace. They temporarily camped in Nanhai Town and waited for the next plan of Chief Orgrim.
As the afterglow of the setting sun shone on the walls of Alterac, General Haas slowly walked into the hall of the palace. His steps were heavy, and his eyes revealed unprecedented fatigue and frustration. Inside the palace, King Aiden Perenold was waiting anxiously, his face full of worry about the war situation.
When General Haas stepped into the hall, all eyes were on him. He took off his helmet, bowed his head and saluted the king, saying in a low and heavy voice: "Your Majesty, I bring you unfortunate news."
King Aiden's heart sank suddenly. He tried to stay calm and motioned General Haas to continue. General Haas took a deep breath and began to talk about the defeat of Nanhai Town and the collapse of the defense line around Nanhai Town. His voice echoed in the empty hall, and every word hit the hearts of everyone present like a heavy hammer.
As General Haas continued his narration, King Aiden's face became more and more solemn. He gripped the armrests of his chair tightly, his fingertips turning white from the force. When General Haas finally finished speaking, the entire hall fell into a deathly silence, broken only by the occasional bird calls from outside the window.
King Aiden slowly stood up, his eyes swept over General Haas and the generals present. Although his voice was calm, it revealed an unquestionable firmness: "Our Kingdom of Alterac has never surrendered to any enemy, and this time will be no exception. General Haas, although you have suffered setbacks, we all see your courage and loyalty. Now, what we need is to unite and face the upcoming challenges together."
He turned to the generals present and continued, "We need to re-evaluate the battle situation and formulate a new strategy. Although our soldiers are tired, their hearts are still burning with the desire for victory. We must use this to inspire their fighting spirit and make them the sharp sword of our counterattack."
General Haas and other generals nodded, and hope rekindled in their eyes. Although the road ahead is still difficult, with the king's encouragement and new strategic plans, they believe that the Kingdom of Alterac will be able to survive this crisis and stand tall again on the land of Azeroth.
As night fell, the palace hall was still brightly lit. King Aiden and his generals were still discussing the details of the battle.
It was late at night, but the lights were bright, illuminating King Aiden's resolute face. He and several important ministers sat around a long table in a solemn and tense atmosphere, discussing the follow-up actions on the heavy topic of the fall of Nanhai Town.
King Aiden tapped his fingers lightly on the table, his eyes showing both pain and determination. "The fall of Southshore is undoubtedly a major blow to our Kingdom of Alterac." His voice was steady and powerful, penetrating the hearts of everyone present, "But more importantly, this means that the orc threat has approached our core area. We must take action, not only to defend our homeland, but also to inform other human kingdoms of this serious situation."
An elderly advisor nodded in agreement. "Your Majesty is right. We must let Stormwind City, Lordaeron and other friendly nations know about this so that they can step up their vigilance and jointly deal with a possible all-out war."
King Aiden turned to the minister in charge of foreign affairs and said, "Send the most trusted messenger to Stormwind and Lordaeron as quickly as possible through the portal to inform them of the situation in Southshore and request their assistance. At the same time, we must prepare a detailed battle report, including the size of the orc army, its tactical characteristics, and our preliminary assessment, so that our friendly countries can make an accurate judgment."
The foreign minister quickly wrote down the king's instructions, with a firm look on his face: "As you command, Your Majesty. I will personally select the most loyal and astute messenger to ensure the safety and rapid delivery of the message."
Then, King Aiden turned to the military advisor: "At the same time, we must strengthen the defense of the border to ensure that our defense line can resist further invasion by the orcs before the friendly reinforcements arrive. In addition, we must also begin preparations to mobilize more soldiers to prepare for the upcoming battle."
