Chapter 19 Eastern Boxing

The body is that of a child, but the heart is that of an adult.

When Jacques was among a group of children and exercising with them, he took it for granted that he could not be worse than them. Even teenagers of fifteen or sixteen were just brats in his eyes. Therefore, he had a very strong desire to win.

Beruni's magical breast milk made him develop earlier than other children of the same age. Although he was not able to fly or become extremely strong, he was able to recover much better than ordinary people. Even if he was exhausted from training, he would be full of energy and continue to train after a good meal and two or three hours of rest.

Jacques started training at the age of four. When he was six, all the children under ten in Marsala Ridge were no match for him.

Clay, the captain of the Marsala garrison and the head of martial arts training, made an exception and allowed Jacques to start learning martial arts. It is said that he is the youngest student ever.

"Don't worry. The young master has developed early. Although he is only six years old, his physique is only stronger than that of a ten-year-old. He can definitely start learning martial arts." Clay patiently explained to Beruni: "I believe that with the young master's qualifications, when he is twenty... no, at most fifteen years old, he can take over my position. However, asking him to be the garrison captain is really a waste of his talent!"

What Clay admired most was Jacques's strong fighting spirit and his unwillingness to admit defeat.

The children who had just joined the martial arts training in Masala Ridge were usually required to compete in arm wrestling with children who were two or three years older than them. On the one hand, this allowed them to know that there were always people better than them, and on the other hand, it allowed them to taste the taste of failure and being laughed at, thus stimulating their desire to win.

As a result, Jacques, who was only four years old at the time, kept asking for a rematch after being easily defeated by his six-year-old opponent. Even though his wrists and elbows were swollen, he still refused to give up. After losing 45 times in a row, he was evenly matched with his opponent for five minutes.

Although Jacques was definitely inferior to his opponent in arm strength, his willpower completely overwhelmed his opponent. This strong fighting spirit made him stand still until Clay intervened and stopped the competition because he was worried that the two would get hurt. Jacques was therefore appreciated by Clay.

Since then, push-ups have become his daily training, and less than a month later, he defeated his previous opponent.

"No matter what obstacles he faces, no matter how backward his conditions are, he will not give himself any excuses. This is the most precious trait in Jacques' character and the most indispensable quality to become an outstanding warrior." Clay praised sincerely.

So, from the age of six, in addition to physical training, Jacques also learned martial arts from Clay and his garrison members. What he learned was actually very simple:

How to fight.

Their so-called martial arts have no rules at all. Every battle requires improvisation, so experienced fighters usually have the upper hand and develop so-called routines such as "If the opponent punches like this, you should dodge here, and then counterattack like this."

Jacques had only studied for about half a year, but he had already completely mastered the routines taught by Clay, and he also evolved and improved these routines by analogy, developing some things that no one had taught him. These evolved moves looked so fresh and full of practical significance, as if they were the crystallization of experience passed down by a martial arts master.

In the eyes of the children, Jacques was just deliberately making fun of the fight so that the training would not be monotonous and the atmosphere would be more relaxed. They had been defeated by Jacques countless times and could not tell the difference between the moves Jacques used to defeat them each time.

But in the eyes of the battle-hardened Clay, there are many ways involved.

"Master...the moves you used today...are the boxing techniques that use elbows and knees to attack the opponent's joints. Are they also your own creations?"

"Ha, this is called Muay Thai." Jacques was performing the moves with great interest, while the two young and strong sparring partners behind him were already sitting on the ground, panting.

"Fetal fist? Does it mean fetus?" Clay scratched his head. "Last week it was karate using bare hands as swords, and today it was fetal fist imitating the movements of a fetus... Young Master's imagination is really wild..."

"Master Jacques will definitely be a martial arts master in the future." The two sparring partners were massaging his arms with grins on their faces.

"It's not 'Tai', it's 'Thai', which means Thailand, because it is a fighting technique that originated in Thailand," Jacques explained.

"Thailand? What do you mean?"

Jacques suddenly remembered that there was probably no country called Thailand in this world, so he added, "Well, Thailand is an ancient country in the East... As for this set of boxing techniques, I saw it in an ancient book in the library."

"Wow, the legendary oriental boxing!" Clay and the guards around him had bright eyes: "There are treasures like this in the lord's library!"

"Ah, knowing more words is really good. I just regret that I didn't study hard in the beginning."

"Don't we have Master Jacques here? Once he has learned everything and teaches us, the level of our garrison will surely rise sharply!"

"Yes, this boxing technique doesn't look simple. If we study it together as a team, we will definitely make rapid progress and it won't take up too much of Master Jacques' time!"

"We are not novices, we will definitely not affect the young master's learning progress!"

Jacques showed an innocent smile: "Of course, we will study boxing together in the future!"

The crowd cheered.
