Chapter 11: The Forgotten Border (Part 3)

The castle dungeon was in a mess. More than half of the cells had been destroyed. There were many bodies of soldiers and prisoners, as well as some animal remains, which looked like the bones of hounds.

Walking through the dungeon, Meng Rou took out an exquisite lantern from the prop bar, illuminated the road ahead of them, and searched the dilapidated dungeon.

"Is there... anyone... help... help me..."

In the deepest part of the dungeon, there were still several intact cells. Following the faint cries for help, the Tyrant and the Sister of Battle found a dying person in one of the cells, with his limbs chained together and leaning against the wall.

"Crack!"

The chains were broken and the man was released. The light of the lantern in Meng Rou's hand illuminated the person in front of her: an old man who was about to die. The strange thing was that he looked exactly like the village chief who had first received the task. Moreover, the chains that locked him were very flimsy, and could even be said to be fake.

"Who are you? Why are you locked up here?"

"I am the chief of a village. My fellow villagers and I were captured here by the rebels. They looted our village, leaving behind the women and livestock, and killed the rest."

Han Zu was a little suspicious. If that was the case, then why wasn't this old guy dead yet? And even though he was locked in the dungeon, he didn't have any scars on his body. Although there were some dirt on his clothes, it looked like it was done on purpose.

"Meng Rou, come here for a moment."

"what happened?"

Meng Rou came to Han Zu, was lifted up by him, and whispered a few words in his ear.

"Defensive stance."

Meng Rou understood that there might be something wrong with this old man.

"Old man, let's go and leave here first."

Although the dungeon had not been searched completely, Meng Rou still called the old man to leave the dungeon.

Turning around and leaving, the old man actually caught up with Meng Rou very quickly, his legs and feet were so agile that it didn't seem like the movements of an elderly person at all. He quietly approached Meng Rou's back and put his hand in his arms, as if he was touching something.

Han Zu suddenly lifted Meng Rou up and put her on his back, making the old man behind him lose his target, so he could only approach Han Zu. But for some reason, he didn't attack, as if he was just on guard.

If the old man could keep up with Meng Rou's pace, it was still a bit unreasonable to say that he could keep up with Han Zu's pace. Han Zu usually shortened his pace and slowed down when walking with his teammates, after all, there was a difference in body size. Now Han Zu was walking at a normal speed, with a step of several meters, which was not something an old man could keep up with.

Soon they arrived at the stairs leading to the dungeon entrance. Han Zu pointed up the stairs and spoke to the old man.

"The exit of the dungeon is above. We have cleared out all the enemies on the way to the castle. You can leave safely."

After saying that, he turned around and was about to go back to the dungeon, but the old man stopped him, as if he didn't want him to go back to the dungeon.

"Wait a minute, hero!"

"Ok?"

"Well... I'm just a frail old man, can you be kind enough to send me out of the castle? I can give you some gold coins, which are hidden in the cellar in the village! I can give you all the gold coins!"

"No."

Han Zu's attitude was very firm and he rejected the old man's invitation. Meng Rou on his back didn't say a word. She saw the old man's small movement, as if he was clenching something in his arms. She stretched out her finger and knocked on Han Zu's neck without any expression.

Han Zu took a step forward and suddenly felt a cold wind coming from the right rear, piercing his waist. He instinctively reached back and grabbed something. The texture in his hand felt like a dagger.

"Abnormal status: poisoned"

"Health -5, Health -3, Skills effective, Immune to poison damage, Abnormal status removed."

"Click!"

Han Zu crushed the dagger in his hand into pieces, then slowly turned around and faced the old man.

"What kind of monster are you? Are you also a lackey of those who believe in false gods?"

"I'm not asking for your permission to show your true colors."

"cut!"

The old man reached out and touched his face, and turned into a petite woman wearing a simple magic robe and a veil on her face, so her face could not be seen clearly.

"Before he turns you into part of the ruins, you have two chances to explain your identity. Of course, you can also try to attack me and my companions, but if that happens, you'd better be sure to kill us all at once, otherwise I think you should be aware of the consequences."

Meng Rou lay on Han Zu's back, her elbows resting on his shoulders, her hands supporting her cheeks, and gave her suggestions to the mage in front of her.

"What is there to say? You are a bunch of rebel running dogs! It was you who killed everyone in the village. I am here to take revenge today!"

Han Zu did not speak, but silently stared at the mage in front of him, as if trying to determine whether her words were true or false.

"You must have misunderstood this. We are not on the same side as those rebels. You still have one chance, little sister."

"Humph! How is that possible? You carry the rebel leader's greatsword and he wears the champion's ring. You must be the rebel leader and her executioner, Judson?! And you still want to lie to me! Especially you, as a woman, you are so cruel! You even don't spare the children in the village!"

"This sword belongs to the rebel leader? Then why is it stuck in the wall of the training ground?"

"It's possible that the rebel leader found a better weapon. But I don't understand why Judson, as the king's champion, would become the executioner of a rebel leader."

"What about her?"

"She probably didn't lie, and she doesn't look like a cunning person. She's just a young girl who has not experienced much in the world."

Han Zu and Meng Rou were talking to themselves, seemingly ignoring the female mage in front of them.

"Don't look down on me! Today I will avenge the villagers!"

The wizard pulled out two daggers from under his magic robe and attacked Han Zu's neck with a flash. The speed was so fast that there was even an afterimage.

"clang!"

Han Zu casually put the back of his hand in front of his neck, and the dagger collided with his palm, producing a harsh noise of metal colliding. And for some reason, the mage in mid-air suddenly became extremely stiff, lost control of his body, and the door was wide open.

"Parry successful."

"boom!"

With a backhand slap, he slapped the wizard in front of him and sent him flying, hitting the wall heavily. The wizard fell to the ground, spitting blood, his limbs twitching, and he was about to die.

"The blood volume has reached the threshold, and execution can be carried out."

“Boom…Boom…Boom…”

However, Han Zu simply walked up to the mage and did not execute her.

"It seems that my judgment was wrong. It should be a mystical assassin. Give her some health back."

At Han Zu's request, Meng Rou released a healing spell and pulled back the woman who had just stepped into the underworld. The recovered mage wiped the blood from her mouth and crawled backwards until she hit the wall behind her.

"Don't...don't come over here! You bunch of demons! Executioners! Murderers!"

"Crack!"

Han Zu's huge hand grabbed her waist and lifted her into the air. As long as the tyrant wanted, he could crush the secret assassin in his hand at any time.

"I don't like those rebels very much, so don't treat me as the same as them. Of course, I'm not a good person either. If you can't communicate like a civilized person next, I will send you to see those dead villagers."

"Don't scare the child. She's a girl after all."

"boom."

Han Zu let go, and the mystical assassin fell to the ground. Although she was no match for the tyrant in front of her, her eyes were still filled with anger. It seemed that she still had some backbone.

"Who are you and why are you here? I..."

"We found the intruders! Go, kill them!"

Han Zu was rudely interrupted halfway through his words when a group of rebel elites appeared on the stairs at the dungeon entrance.

Meng Rou noticed Han Zu's emotional changes, and jumped off his back, pulling the secret assassin to stand aside. Han Zu glanced at Meng Rou, stood up, clenched his fists, and walked up the stairs with a creepy sound of bones rubbing against each other.

"I advise you to answer properly later and don't look at me. I can't stop him."

"I won't believe you..."

"Bang!"

“Ahhhhhhhhh~~!”

"His!"

"boom!"

"Monster! He is... Ka...!"

"Uh... run... fast..."

"His!"

"Run! Run! Quickly..."

The creepy sound of muscles and bones tearing, as well as screams, came from the top of the stairs. Although one could not see what was happening outside, the scene was definitely extremely brutal.

"Boom..Boom..Boom.."

A few minutes later, the screams stopped, and dull footsteps shook the ground, approaching the dungeon. The tyrant, covered in blood, walked down with a gloomy face.

The secret assassin was a little shaken. He knew with his toes that the screams were closely related to the bloody tyrant in front of him.

"Where were we talking about?"

"Who is she and why is she here?" Meng Rou reminded considerately.

"I'm running out of patience. This is your last chance."

The secret assassin was still struggling, and Han Zu became a little impatient. He suddenly jumped up, pulled out a huge rock from the wall next to him, and smashed it towards the secret assassin in front of him with overwhelming force.

"I said! I said!!!"

"boom!"

The boulder smashed down next to the arcane assassin, leaving behind a deep crater and the remnants of the boulder that had been destroyed by the enormous force.

It seems that the tyrant in front of him is a complete lunatic. If he doesn't follow his wishes, he will probably become a part of the deep pit next to him.

Under the tremendous pressure of death, the secret assassin revealed his identity.

She was an apprentice of a mystic assassin and also a villager in the village. When the rebels attacked the village, she hid in the cellar and escaped. It was just as she said, the rebels massacred the village and took away the young women. So she wanted to rescue them, so she sneaked into the rebel territory. Just when she found the imprisoned women, Han Zu and others arrived, so she cast a spell and disguised herself as the village chief, ready to find a chance to escape and rescue those women.

"But we didn't see anyone else in the dungeon except you?"

"There's a tunnel in the dungeon, and they're hiding there."

"Then why don't you just escape through the tunnel?"

"The tunnel is sealed and we can't get out."

Under the guidance of the secret assassin, they found the location of the tunnel, where a dozen young women were hiding. They looked terrified, tears wet their cheeks, and their bodies were shaking with fear.

After pulling them out, Meng Rou cast a healing spell on them to calm their fear, and took them out of the dungeon.
