Chapter 32 Ollivander

[Olivanders: Making fine wands since 382 BC.]

This is the sign on the shabby shop with some of the words falling off.

Perhaps because cleaning and repair spells are often used, there is not much dust in the shop, even though there are some wands made by ancestors and passed down from generation to generation.

When Ollivander saw Dumbledore come in, he immediately put down his tidying work, stood up and took the initiative to greet him with a smile.

No matter how famous an ordinary guest is, he is not worthy of such courtesy from the wand-obsessed man, the only wand master in Britain.

But Dumbledore was different.

Ollivander's Wand Shop only uses three powerful and rare materials: phoenix feathers, unicorn hair, and dragon heart nerves to make wand cores. And Dumbledore's pet phoenix, Fawkes, is one of his stable sources of phoenix feathers.

Ollivander looked at them with his large, light-colored eyes, paying special attention to the strange little wizard who wanted to buy a wand, and greeted him softly.

"Ah, Professor Dumbledore, is this the new student who wants to buy a wand?"

Dumbledore smiled and nodded: "Yes, her name is Alison Green."

Mr. Ollivander stared at Alison with his cloudy eyes and whispered, "Let's get started... Miss Green, please tell me first, which hand do you usually use?"

This question is of little use to most wizards, as the difference between dominant and non-dominant hands mainly affects the use of difficult spells.

Alison held out her right hand for Ollivander to measure.

She actually has several wands brought from the game world, but if you look into it in detail, each wand has different appearance attributes and applicable spells, so it would be nice to buy one more.

She had previously given her handsome elder wand, which she used for dark magic, to Grindelwald, who was left wandless after escaping from prison. Now she uses her original wand, which is made of walnut and dragon nerve.

Mr. Ollivander finished measuring, thought for a moment, and then took a box from the shelf with his long pale fingers.

"Try this, beech wood, unicorn hair, twelve inches, pretty hard."

Alison didn't take it, she simply refused, "I'm used to using dark magic, I don't want unicorn hair."

Unicorn hair wands are just like unicorns: loyal, focused, and not easily disturbed, but also very resistant to dark magic.

The Phoenix Feather Wand has a wide casting range, but takes longer to cast, is picky about its owner, and is highly proactive, making it as mysterious and difficult to tame as a phoenix.

The Dragon Nerve Wand is powerful and gorgeous and accelerates the learning of magic. It is easy to turn to dark magic and is more loyal to the strong.

Ollivander was stunned for a moment, and did not comment on the fact that the young wizard was good at dark magic. He obeyed the request good-temperedly and fumbled on the shelf to change another one.

It's rare to see young wizards learn about unpopular wand knowledge. Usually, they are more concerned with spells, Quidditch and the like.

"Then try this, yew wood, dragon nerve, thirteen and three-quarter inches, quite flexible."

Alison waved it, but there was no strange phenomenon of the magic wand recognizing its master, only the table where miscellaneous items were placed next to it exploded.

It wasn't inappropriate, quite the contrary, she smoothly performed a crushing spell.

Ollivander ignored the even more messy shop and just rubbed his hands excitedly.

"It likes you, Miss Green, and believe me, it will suit you very well!"

Alison lowered her head and touched the slightly reddish black wand. "It's really good... I've used walnut and elderberry wands before, and they're almost as smooth as this one."

Mr. Ollivander looked at Alison in surprise: "Elder? That's a very rare wand material..."

Dumbledore also frowned and subconsciously touched the Elder Wand in his hand.

Elder wands are notoriously rare and powerful, difficult to wield, and are only reserved for wizards of exceptional ability and destiny.

There is an old saying in the wizarding world that warns of its power and danger: The elder wand never prospers.

Alison looked up and chatted with the wand master about wands: "It is indeed rare, but the genius recognized by Walnut must have a different fate from ordinary people, right?"

Ollivander agreed with this: "Well said, Miss Green! The owner chosen by the walnut wand is destined to be extraordinary!"

Alison played with the yew wand for a moment.

"Do you have silver basswood? I'd like to try that one, too."

"Silver basswood? That's a very rare wand material..." Ollivander paused, but didn't say anything to spoil the fun, saying that he couldn't try again since he had already chosen a wand that matched his needs. He quickly took another box from the shelf inside, "Then try this one, thirteen and two-thirds inches, very soft."

"No matter how rare it is, this was a popular wand wood in the 19th century, so Ollivanders must have some in stock."

Alison chatted with him while casually taking the pure white wand and waving it a few times. It felt good, but she lost interest immediately and only accurately controlled the ignition of a harmless and profound Gublerite fairy fire out of thin air.

"It's beautiful, but it's just beautiful..." She sighed and poked the eternally burning but harmless flame with the wand, "Just like the Gublerite fairy fire, beautiful, noble, mysterious, and unnecessary. Silver basswood is considered suitable for prophets and Legilimency, but prophecy does not require the assistance of a magic wand. The powerful Legilimency is also silent and wandless, only activated by eye contact..."

Ollivander looked at the beautiful flame in amazement.

"You are right, Miss Green. Silver basswood wands are rarely used in combat. But their elegance and magic are unmatched by other wands."

Alison handed the silver basswood wand back to him. "Unfortunately, I am a wizard who prefers combat. Yew is a good choice. It controls life and death, and has a dark and terrible reputation in duels and curses."

Mr. Ollivander took the wand and carefully put it back into the box. He said in a light voice: "The yew wand is indeed very suitable for you. It represents death, power, and rebirth..."

Alison thought of the bone staff in the Diablo game, and the necromancer who was used to dealing with skeletons and undead asked calmly.

"What does the Ollivander family think of the bone staff, a rare wand?"

"Bones of powerful magical creatures..."

She added in a soft voice.

“And human bones.”

The bright morning sunlight could not penetrate into the shabby little shop. The beautiful and delicate face of the red-haired little witch seemed indifferent. The one blue eye that was exposed was like a beautiful glass bead, and no emotion could be seen in the shadow.

Mr. Ollivander's face changed, and he shuddered, looking extremely uneasy: "Bone wand? That is a very dark magical item. Ollivander never makes this kind of wand."

Even Voldemort back then was not as wild as her. He asked such a dark question in the middle of the day, in front of Professor Dumbledore who was against the dark magic.
