HP Shavings Wizard

Chapter 157 Rome

The train whistled and started moving slowly.

This beautiful green train is not like the old, smoke-belching steam train of the Hogwarts Express. The electric locomotive is quiet and fast, and after the whistle is blown to signal the start, it will smoothly take the passengers to the distance.

Dumbledore quietly admired the ever-changing scenery outside the large glass window.

In his middle age, when he was forced to fight against Gale, he also traveled around Europe, but at that time his mind was full of various plans and situations, and it was difficult to really relax, and Muggle trains were not as comfortable as they are now.

Suburban buildings, green plants and shrubs for sound insulation, red trains passing by on the tracks, high concrete bridges, long wires, delicate signal towers, and foreign families picnicking and camping on the grass...

Grindelwald raised his eyelids and glanced at the Muggle scenery outside the window. He showed little interest and took out the newspaper of the day which was provided free of charge on the magic train to pass the time.

The headlines in the newspapers were still about the aftermath of their marriage, both in the official media and in the entertainment tabloids. He kept reading the newspapers along the way, occasionally chatting with Al.

On matters like this, the official media is always more serious, while the tabloids are much more open.

Some reporters even boldly speculated whether Mr. Dumbledore would choose to retire after marriage, resign from Hogwarts, and spend time with his family - over a hundred years old is already retirement age, and Vice-Principal Professor McGonagall is someone who has been trained for many years and can handle things.

The official media is much more serious: the marriage between a warmonger who once started a world war, a racist terrorist, and the current president of the International Magical Confederation has too profound a meaning.

Experts invited to analyze the situation speculated whether this meant that Dumbledore had changed his mind and had accepted Grindelwald's crazy ideas again, just as they shared the same ideals when they were young.

However, the Ministries of Magic of various countries have inquired from the guests invited to the wedding and denied such speculation through official media, issuing a statement saying that Dumbledore still insists on his position.

The British Ministry of Magic, which had been turning a deaf ear to the matter, was unanimously criticized by the outside world: they blocked the news that Grindelwald had escaped from prison and brought his daughter into Hogwarts, and covered its mouth to prevent the British official media "The Daily Prophet" from publishing the matter, and did not notify foreign ministries of magic and the International Confederation of Wizards.

——Even though there were a lot of owl letters sent to the family by students and professors, many British people knew the gossip about the family. Some students even treasured the magical photo of the devil and fallen angel dancing together on Halloween and became fans of their own principal and the old devil.

Of course, the British Ministry of Magic is not a pushover either, and they immediately shirked the blame, saying that Hogwarts is a relatively independent place and they were unaware of the matter. They also turned around and blamed the Austrian Ministry of Magic, which was in charge of Nurmengard Prison, and dragged the Austrian Ministry of Magic into the water. Now the dispute is in full swing and everyone is trying to pass the buck everywhere.

Grindelwald even looked at a few of the photos as a joke to pass the time, while Dumbledore was busy looking at the scenery and taking pictures. He had no time to pay attention to the rumors and just wanted to enjoy the trip.

The scenery outside the window became more and more beautiful, and further and further away from human habitation.

The pure, clear blue water of the lake is scattered on the grass like gems, sparkling under the scorching sun of midsummer, and is surrounded by a low wooden railing.

Then there were steep cliffs. The train followed the towering bridge, crossed the sky road, and drove along the lush summer rocks. Through the glass, you can see the distant foot of the mountain and the occasional village...

All roads lead to Rome.

The two handsome young men got off the train and enjoyed this world-famous cultural city in a relaxed and happy manner.

The weather is hot, but wizards will naturally cast some little spells to cool themselves down, which will not affect the interest in traveling at all.

They first entered the wizarding world in Rome and exchanged some Italian banknotes and coins through Gringotts - it was very subtle. The exchange rate between lira and gold galleons was too high, and one gold coin could be exchanged for 10,000 lira.

But when they saw the banknotes, they felt relieved: 10,000 lire is actually just a piece of paper money. Inflation is severe in Italy, and coins have denominations of hundreds or thousands.

The plan is to first be in the Muggle world and follow the map.

The cultural landscapes in Rome do have a heavy sense of history. The buildings that follow geometry and embody Muggle wisdom can be described as magnificent and beautiful, but not too exaggerated.

The wizarding world is also ancient, and many places continue the medieval traditions, as well as various strange magics. It's just that because there are fewer people, the buildings are usually not that big.

The two young men strolled around the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and the Spanish Steps, taking photos and admiring the Muggle civilization.

They also bought two Italian ice creams from a roadside stall and ate them while walking, enjoying their rare time alone together.

In the Spanish Square, strange Muggles with white faces performed some weird and funny performances, dancing and waving their hands. There were also Muggle tourists who sat on the steps and ate ice cream, and they were fined repeatedly - it seemed to be some kind of custom? It was related to Muggle movies.

They plan to go to the movies later.

Alison was right, some corners were obviously dirty, paper towels and plastic were scattered on the stone floor, and the breeze mixed a strange smell with the beautiful scenery, which really ruined the good impression.

The newlyweds looked at each other and tacitly avoided those places, with no intention of trying to step over them themselves.

They made a wish in front of the wishing well, hoping that they could always be happy like this.

We also saw strange Muggles picking up branches, lighting bonfires, stewing various dishes in pots, dancing around, singing in their own strange language, using glass balls to tell fortunes, and performing some "magic".

The real wizards Dumbledore and Grindelwald who were watching: …

The two had indeed seen real gypsy wizards, but just like the Muggle wizards, they did not form a large family. It was just that one or two children with magical talent would occasionally appear among the crowd.

These Muggles in front of them were obviously all scammers. Europeans' overall impression of this nomadic people was that they were thieves, scammers, lazy and gluttonous. Some smart ones subconsciously stayed away from them and held their bags tightly.

The gypsies sold useless amulets, herbs, and "antiques" at high prices to the onlookers, bewildered tourists.

Dumbledore and Grindelwald did not expose the truth but just watched the fun. They also rejected the enthusiastic sales pitches of the dirty, dark-haired and eyed gypsies and protected their belongings.

Ancient Rome was also famous for witch hunts. In Muggle novels, there are stories of witches performing rituals and turning into owls and flying out of windows.

Muggles often portray witches as sexy young women seeking the favors of young men. Of course, compared to the more effeminate Muggle women, witches are more likely to take revenge if they are rejected.

Dumbledore flipped through the books with great interest, even though these Muggles had such a shallow and prejudiced impression of wizards.

——As for the witches that impressed him and Gale, such as Minerva and Wenda, they were all gifted, smart and independent. Wizards also have normal logic, and almost no one would retaliate just because they were rejected in normal communication.
