Chapter 110 Mirror of Erised

"Do you want to go see the legendary Mirror of Erised?"

The suggestion came from a bored and curious little red-haired wizard.

Dumbledore seemed to have expected Alison to make this request, and his expression was calm and gentle, not surprised at all.

"Of course, but I must remind you that the Mirror of Erised cannot bring true happiness."

Grindelwald also added.

“It’s just a vehicle for desire.”

Alison looked at Daddy oddly.

"…How do you know that?"

She originally thought that this was just a plot by her father, a little secret he shared with her that he learned about through the original novel, and she was waiting to see what her father would ask them about.

Grindelwald glanced at Dumbledore calmly.

Is it Legilimency again? Two people sharing memories and thoughts? So Dad knew about this when he was young in school...

Damn it, he pretended it again!

"..."

Alison reacted and was instantly silent, fed with dog food.

Dumbledore smiled and changed the subject.

"Come on, let's go check out the Mirror of Erised."

The three of them walked slowly step by step up the complicated staircase of Hogwarts, and Alison's curious and inquiring voice also had a lazy feeling.

"…So, what was it you saw in the Mirror of Erised recently? Or the wool socks?"

Dumbledore smiled at this private question, thinking of the woollens and the book of prophecies she had given him.

After a long pause, he winked at his daughter playfully and continued with a joke in reply.

"Still wool socks, but I'm almost done with a set."

Alison laughed as well, returning the joke appropriately.

Grindelwald looked at them quietly, with no clear emotion in his eyes. Alison felt her father's eyes flickering slightly, probably because the sunlight shone through the brightly colored stained glass windows of the Gothic church and projected into his eyes.

Obviously, the other two were not people who would be fooled by a simple "wool socks" and they immediately understood Dumbledore's idea.

'……family.'

'Perhaps now he's added Grindelwald and Alison.'

Quietly walked past a tall suit of armor and entered the empty classroom on the left.

This is an abandoned classroom. Many desks and chairs are piled up against the wall, and there is also an upside-down wastebasket.

Against the wall opposite, there was a very grand mirror, so grand that it was totally out of place in the abandoned classroom environment.

It reached up to the ceiling, had an ornate golden frame, was supported by two claw-shaped feet, and had a row of beautiful letters carved on the top.

Alison looked at Grindelwald and smiled sweetly, not hiding her desire to watch the show.

"Daddy first?"

Grindelwald remained silent, but did not refuse.

The old man walked to the mirror and looked at the empty mirror.

The Mirror of Erised gradually began to react.

In the mirror was the duel between the three of them when they were young - him, Al, and Aberforth.

There was no special expression on his face, and he easily recalled what he saw in the mirror:

He was so enraged that he took the lead in using the Cruciatus Curse on Aberforth, who had been trying to stop their plans.

Al kept begging and pleading, and finally stood up to protect his stupid and rude brother who was a burden.

Because of the existence of the Blood Alliance, all the spells that they used against each other were bounced off.

At that time, Ariana was standing upstairs, having heard the terrible noise.

The golden-haired, timid and quiet little Obscurial girl showed amazing courage - she quickly ran downstairs and tried to stop Grindelwald from possibly harming her family.

A spell hit her.

Of course, although they used dark magic, they did not use the most deadly killing curse.

But the spell caused the Obscurus in Ariana to go wild. The girl quickly transformed into a ball of black force, destroying the living room, but finally slowly stopped and turned back into human form.

——Of course, it wasn't that the Obscurus was exhausted, but that the girl's vitality could no longer withstand the erosion of the parasite. She had good talent and had already lived several years longer than ordinary Obscurus. Now every day was a countdown to her life.

Amidst the chaos, what was returned to the Dumbledore brothers was a corpse.

The Mirror of Erised recreated that scene perfectly:

The pale-faced red-haired young man held his dead sister in his arms, his beautiful blue eyes filled with regret and pain as he looked at the equally panicked blond young man.

Unlike reality, the red-haired young man remained silent, and spoke softly when the young lover turned and ran away.

"...I forgive you."

"What do you see?"

In the real world outside the mirror, Dumbledore looked at his old lover and the blank mirror and asked softly.

"..."

The overlapping voices brought Grindelwald back to his senses and he answered calmly.

“…Nothing.”

This was of course a crude lie, but it was enough to show a refusal to answer.

It’s hard to imagine what these two smart people were thinking at this moment.

Dumbledore lowered his eyes without exposing her, and when he raised them again, he looked at Alison with his beautiful blue eyes.

"…It's your turn, Alison."

Alison looked at them furtively and blinked.

"What if I don't want to see it?"

“Of course the Mirror of Erised cannot force you to look at it… but aren’t you curious?”

Dumbledore asked back, tempting the little red-haired wizard. Taking this opportunity, he decided to find out what Alison, a cunning child who worshipped power, desired most.

The Mirror of Erised is not like Legilimency which shows everything. It only shows the desired scene to the person in front of it. However, Dumbledore is confident that he can see something from Alison's reaction and confirm that she does not have some terrible future plans.

Hearing this, Alison really laughed, walked over calmly, and stood in front of the mirror instead of her father who had left.

Her expression was very casual, and she even had the time to blow a kiss to her father.

What people desire most is often what they cannot get. What is easily within reach is never cherished.

And what she desired most, she had always known...

The Mirror of Erised reveals her, the young Dumbledore and Grindelwald.

It was a winter scene with a burning fireplace, and one could faintly hear the crackling sound of the fire and the sound of wind and snow outside the window.

The red-haired young man was writing a letter with a quill at the table, but he could not stand the little red-haired wizard's pestering and stopped writing with a sigh. The blond young man came over with a teapot, tapped Alison's head gently, talked to the red-haired young man, and then put his arm around Alison.

Alison outside the mirror overlapped with Alison in the mirror. The handsome young couple were arm in arm with each other affectionately. One of them was hugging the girl who looked like a younger sister. They were looking outside the mirror with a smile, and their expressions were full of youthfulness, gentleness and joy.

"Really? It's the same as Potter..."

"I'm not some child who lacks love."

Alison outside the mirror complained quietly in her heart, but she always had a playful smile on her face.

Obviously, the scene in the mirror was within her expectations, and she did not lose her composure because she suddenly saw her inner desires.
