Black Naruto: Shadow Moon

Chapter 242 The Second Ninja World War Ends

At the Konoha high-level meeting, Sarutobi Hiruzen summoned Hokage assistant Shimura Danzo, Hokage advisor Mito Kado En and Utane Koharu to discuss whether they should find an opportunity to withdraw from the war and start peace negotiations with other ninja villages.

"The village has lost too many ninjas, and the people are unstable. We can't go on like this. The Sand Village has withdrawn. This may be our chance to seek peace." Sarutobi Hiruzen said heavily.

Mitokado En and Utatane Koharu, as advisors to Konoha, were old and had also seen the casualties and destruction caused by the war, so they tended to support Sarutobi Hiruzen's proposal. "We can give up some of our interests in exchange for peace and stability," Mitokado En said.

"That's right. If we continue to fight, Konoha Village will fall into deeper trouble. Appropriate compromise is to preserve our strength." Utane Koharu also agreed.

However, the most controversial voice in the meeting came from Danzo Shimura.

As the representative of the hawkish faction of Konoha Village, Danzo has always been known for his radical and tough stance.

In his opinion, Konoha Village is the most powerful ninja village in the ninja world, and any form of compromise and concession is unacceptable, let alone giving up interests in negotiations.

"Sarutobi, you are too weak!" Shimura Danzo slammed the table angrily, his eyes gloomy. "Give up your interests? That's a cowardly act! We are Konoha, the strongest in the ninja world. Are you going to let our enemies gain the upper hand for the sake of so-called peace?"

Danzo's tone was aggressive, his eyes full of disdain and dissatisfaction.

He believed that Sarutobi Hiruzen's proposal was simply humiliating and that Konoha Village should not show weakness because of a temporary setback, but should continue to launch a strong attack, completely defeat the enemy and win.

"Sacrifice brought by war is inevitable. It is precisely because of sacrifice that we can show the strength of Konoha. If we retreat now, how will other ninja villages look at us? They will think that Konoha is weak and can be bullied. At that time, the enemy will only covet our resources more unscrupulously."

As Sarutobi Hiruzen listened to Danzo's accusations, his face gradually darkened.

He understood Danzo's tough stance, but he didn't want to let more young ninjas die in this meaningless war.

"Danzo, I understand your position, but we have lost too many excellent ninjas. Konoha Village must consider the long-term interests. Appropriate compromise can buy us more time and space."

Danzo's anger did not subside, but became even more excited.

He looked at Sarutobi Hiruzen coldly and sneered, "Hiruzen, you are just too weak. You always think about compromising. Have you forgotten what Tobirama taught us? Being weak will only make the enemy look down on us!"

He looked around the conference room with dissatisfaction, and was even more furious when he saw Mito Kado En and Utane Koharu also standing on Sarutobi's side.

He knew that he could not get support in this meeting, so he finally threw up his sleeves, slammed the door angrily, and left a cold warning before leaving:

"Hiruzen, you will regret this!"

"Danzo, I am the Hokage!"

After the meeting, Sarutobi Hiruzen, Utatane Koharu and Mito Kado En were silent for a long time.

Although Danzo's opinions were very radical and influential, Sarutobi Hiruzen still firmly believed that continuing the war would only bring more unnecessary sacrifices to Konoha Village.

He decided to push for peace talks, even if it required appropriate concessions, in order to protect the future of Konoha Village.

"Danzo... maybe he has his reasons, but Konoha Village can no longer afford any more sacrifices now." Sarutobi Hiruzen sighed, his eyes determined.

As an old Hokage, he knew better than anyone that this war could not continue.

Konoha Village is ready to take a step towards compromise amid the changing situation in the ninja world.

Sarutobi Hiruzen knew that the peace talks might not go smoothly, but for the future of the village, he was willing to pay the price.

As the Sand Village took the lead in withdrawing from the war, other ninja villages also began to gradually show their desire for peace.

The entire pattern of the ninja world is quietly changing, a new storm is about to come, and the decision makers of Konoha Village are standing on the edge of this storm, ready to face future choices.

At the end of the Third Shinobi World War, the major countries in the Shinobi world signed peace agreements one after another.

Despite the countless sacrifices and suffering the war brought, the villages understood that continuing the war would only make the situation worse.

For the sake of peace, the Third Hokage Sarutobi Hiruzen made many compromises and concessions.

He was willing to sacrifice some of Konoha's interests in exchange for a quick ceasefire among the major ninja villages. This gesture made the other ninja villages quickly agree to a peace agreement, and the war finally came to an end.

However, these concessions also caused Konoha Village to lose some interests at the negotiating table, which made Danzo Shimura very angry.

At the meeting to sign the peace agreement, Sarutobi Hiruzen made many compromises as the representative of Konoha.

Although Konoha Village is one of the most powerful villages in the ninja world, due to the consumption and huge sacrifices of the war, Sarutobi chose to exchange peace for a temporary respite.

He knew very well that continuing the war would not only cost Konoha more, but would also cause greater unrest in the village.

"Peace must come at a price." Sarutobi Hiruzen said privately to the senior Hokage after the agreement was signed, with a hint of heaviness in his tone.

But these compromises were intolerable in the eyes of Danzo Shimura.

In his opinion, Konoha Village should continue to defeat its enemies through tough means and consolidate its dominance, rather than exchange peace for concessions.

He believed that Sarutobi Hiruzen's behavior was weak and incompetent, and that Konoha should gain more spoils and political benefits rather than sacrifice its own advantages.

"Sarutobi, you are a weak Hokage. Sooner or later, Konoha will fall into chaos because of your weakness!" Shimura Danzo was secretly angry in his heart, but he couldn't explode on the spot.

Danzo had long been harboring dissatisfaction with Sarutobi Hiruzen, especially in terms of war decisions, the two had always had different opinions.

After the war, Danzo decided not to endure any longer and began planning to replace Sarutobi Hiruzen and become the Hokage of Konoha.

In his opinion, only he can lead Konoha to become truly powerful.

After the peace agreement was signed, the top leaders of Konoha Village - including Sarutobi Hiruzen, Shimura Danzo, Utane Koharu and Mito Kado En - needed to go to the capital of the Land of Fire to report the situation in the ninja world and the current status of Konoha Village to the Daimyo of the Land of Fire.

Danzo knew that this was his perfect opportunity.

Sarutobi Hiruzen would undoubtedly be criticized for the losses during the war, especially since Konoha Village sacrificed so many outstanding ninjas but did not gain enough benefits after the war.

Danzo decided at this critical moment to publicly impeach Sarutobi Hiruzen to the Daimyo of the Land of Fire, in order to replace him and become the new Hokage of Konoha.
