God's Gift

Chapter 5 Barking

Fang Ziang came back to his senses, looked towards the bushes gloomily, and said to Youyou: "Let's go back quickly before the Blue Dragon's people find us. I don't want to stay in this place anymore."

Yu Youyou nodded, looked around, and asked Fang Ziang: "Where should we go?"

"How should I know?" Fang Ziang spat, thinking to himself that he was really unlucky. Ye Li's relationship with Shen Minghua was getting better and better, and now he had messed up again.

"There is light ahead." Yu Youyou looked at the faint light coming from the front of the forest and turned to look at Fang Ziang.

Fang Ziang heard Yu Youyou's words and looked in the direction she was looking. He also saw the bright light and a happy smile appeared on his face. "It's the light of the village. Let's go."

Yu Youyou frowned and hesitated: "It doesn't seem to be the light of the village."

"How could it not be! Is there someone else here?" Fang Ziang no longer wanted to listen to Yu Youyou's words and hurried forward.

Yu Youyou paused for a few seconds and followed.

"Why is this place so weird? Does Lu Keming really know something? They seemed to be offering sacrifices before... The sacrifices are from the church. If he came to offer sacrifices, it means he has already joined the church."

Fang Ziang analyzed Youyou as he walked.

Yu Youyou nodded, stepped over the branches on the road, and before leaving the place, she looked back at the tree where Fang Ziang had just stood at an angle that Fang Ziang had not noticed.

A dark shadow jumped down from the tree, and after a while, the corpse in the bushes was slowly dragged away.

Yu Youyou looked away without changing her expression, turned back and stepped over another branch.

"Did you listen to me, Yu Youyou?" Fang Ziang was furious when he saw Yu Youyou's absent-minded look.

"I heard that you said Lu Keming was colluding with the church." Yu Youyou responded.

"Yes, so I will go back and tell Ali about this, which will help them a lot." Fang Ziang smiled happily as if he had thought of something good.

"So you must not tell anyone that we are engaged, understand? Only my parents and I know about this, but we will never get married. I can't let Ali misunderstand me."

"Oh." Yu Youyou brushed away the leaves that had brushed her cheek and responded nonchalantly.

"I'm doing this for your own good. This is the only way you can pursue Shen Minghua!" Fang Ziang suddenly felt that what he said was not right, so he made up another sentence.

"Okay." Yu Youyou looked at the forest ahead and suddenly stopped. Fang Ziang also stopped for unknown reasons.

"What's wrong?" Fang Ziang looked ahead, then turned his head and asked Yu Youyou.

"We seem to have taken the wrong road." Yu Youyou suddenly said this as she looked at the flickering fire ahead.

"How is that possible? We can see the lights in the village. Where else should we go if not this way?" Fang Ziang denied Yu Youyou's words without even thinking, "If you feel scared, then find the way you want to go."

Yu Youyou glanced at Fang Ziang, thought for a few seconds, and finally agreed: "Okay, if you want to leave, that's no problem."

"It's not that I want to, it's just that we should go this way." Fang Ziang took a few steps forward, leaving Yu Youyou behind.

After he left, Yu Youyou didn't rush to leave. She stood there for a few seconds, as if looking at something on the ground.

Behind the two of them, the shadows of the trees began to twist and entangle, closely following their steps, and suddenly stopped after Yu Youyou stopped.

A thin and slanted shadow emerged from the black shadow and stretched out towards Yu Youyou like a hand. Just when it was about to touch Yu Youyou's head, she squatted down and just avoided the thing.

"Haha, I caught it!" Yu Youyou pressed her hands tightly on the ground and shouted in surprise.

When Fang Ziang heard Yu Youyou's voice, he thought something had happened to her, so he quickly turned around and walked towards her.

And the moment Fang Ziang turned around, the forest returned to normal, and the shadows of the trees were still straight and quiet.

"What did you catch?" Fang Ziang looked at Yu Youyou's clenched hands.

“A…” Yu Youyou slowly spread out her palm, revealing a green frog inside. She placed the frog flat in front of her eyes, her bright eyes reflecting the frog’s figure: “A little thing with four legs!”

Fang Ziang's mouth twitched. How could this be described?

"It's just a frog, why are you making such a fuss?" Fang Ziang turned around and continued walking forward.

"So it's called a frog, it's so small." Yu Youyou exclaimed from behind.

"I advise you not to take anything into your hands. Be careful of poison. It may kill you in a moment."

Fang Ziang complained casually, but he didn't hear any response from the back for a long time. Instead, it was unusually quiet. He was shocked and thought that he couldn't really be poisoned to death so quickly!

Fang Ziang quickly turned his head: "What's wrong with you?"

But when he turned around, he saw Yu Youyou holding up the frog, opening her mouth wide, and about to put it in her mouth.

The frog in her hand struggled frantically, its face squeezed into a ball, and it fainted from fright as it looked at the huge mouth that was getting closer and closer.

Fang Ziang: Fuck...

He quickly slapped the frog out of Yu Youyou's hand and looked at her in shock: "What are you doing!"

Yu Youyou withdrew her hand awkwardly, "Is this inedible?"

"Nonsense, do you think this is edible? What if it's poisonous!" Fang Ziang widened his eyes and looked at Yu Youyou in disbelief.

Yu Youyou clasped her fingers together, her eyes rolling around, not realizing that anything was wrong, and asked Fang Ziang curiously, "It's not poisonous, why can't we eat it?"

"It doesn't matter if it's not poisonous. Who would eat a frog?"

Yu Youyou tilted her head and looked at Fang Ziang with bright eyes. Fang Ziang looked into her eyes and realized that he was not rigorous enough. He paused for a few seconds and changed his words:

“Not really. Some people eat frogs.”

Yu Youyou's eyes lit up.

"But how do you know it's not poisonous?" The more Fang Ziang thought about it, the more he felt something was wrong. Yu Youyou didn't even know it was a frog, so how could she know it wasn't poisonous?

"But it just doesn't exist." Yu Youyou answered naturally.

Fang Ziang looked at Yu Youyou suspiciously. After they looked at each other for a few seconds, he finally found something wrong.

"No, who cares if it's poisonous or not! Who would eat a living thing raw?" Fortunately, he reacted quickly, otherwise he would have been led astray by Yu Youyou again!

Yu Youyou frowned and thought for a few seconds, then suddenly realized, "Right, people don't seem to like eating live animals. My mother doesn't eat them."

"You talk as if you're not a human being." Fang Ziang rolled his eyes at Yu Youyou, realizing that continuing to argue with her would only be a waste of time.

"Alright, alright, let's go. Stop dawdling and wasting time." Fang Ziang grabbed Yu Youyou's collar and dragged her forward.

Just as Fang Ziang was dragging Yu Youyou forward, the sound of a dog barking suddenly came from the bright place ahead.

The dog's barking was rapid and low, as if it had encountered something and was warning the other party.
