God's Gift

Chapter 400: Forrest

"What kind of god is this?" Ye Li had never seen such a god.

"Forrest?"

Yu Youyou's voice sounded somewhat doubtful. She bent down curiously and stared at the deer that had already been covered in rust.

"Youyou, do you know it?" Seeing that Youyou seemed to know the deer, Ye Li asked in confusion.

"Yes." Yu Youyou nodded without hesitation and answered honestly:

“This is the forest god.”

Fang Ziang came forward and looked at the nondescript deer statue in the shrine. "What forest god? I've never heard of it before."

Not only had he never heard of it, but Ye Li and Anthony next to him had never heard of it either.

"It's normal if you haven't heard of it." Yu Youyou was not surprised at all and answered as a matter of course:

"Not many people knew it when it was alive, and even fewer people know it now that it's been dead for so long."

When Yu Youyou was talking nonsense, Ye Li quickly covered her mouth.

Although Ye Li did not know this god, it was not good to say such disrespectful words to the god.

"Youyou, how can you say such disrespectful words? Be careful, it may hear you and punish you."

"How could that be?" Yu Youyou muttered quietly, not taking these things to heart at all. She shook her head and smiled nonchalantly: "I've already told you, it's dead, it can't possibly punish me."

And how was this disrespectful? She had spoken to it the same way when Forrest was alive.

But Yu Youyou did not say these words. She put her hands on her waist, looked up at the building behind the shrine, pointed at the building and said:

"Then let's stay here tonight."

"Here?" When Lu Keming and Shen Minghua were discussing exploring the way, Ron, who had been silent the whole time, looked at the place Yu Youyou pointed out, his eyes full of disapproval:

"you sure?"

This building looked even more dilapidated than the ones they had passed before.

"Yes." Yu Youyou nodded heavily, "It's right here."

"That's fine." Ye Li also nodded. If they continued to search like this, it would be dark. It would be better to stop for now. "Let's just stay here."

After saying that, Ye Li looked at the statue of the deer god in the shrine again. After countless years of baptism, rust had corroded its body. Only the pair of eyes blocked by the flowers growing wildly in the shrine were still intact.

For some reason, Ye Li felt as if those iron eyes were crying, gazing at this broken and chaotic world with sadness and loneliness.

"Go in." Ye Li's heart skipped a beat. She quickly withdrew her gaze and walked into the building.

Ron was dissatisfied, but now he and Ye Li were the only ones here with S-level mental power. If Ye Li wanted to stay here, he couldn't take the others away alone.

After thinking for a few seconds, he turned to the other White Dove members and said, "Stay here tonight."

Since both of them had spoken, the others had no choice but to enter the building reluctantly.

"Are you really going to stay here?" Fang Ziang saw everyone walking inside and hurriedly bowed to the shrine.

"Respected forest god, if you are really a god, you must protect us. I will build a temple for you when I return."

After saying this, he reverently threw a gold coin into the niche, and then followed the main group.

"Forrest..." Yu Youyou fell behind, watching everyone leave, bent down to look at the god in the niche, and whispered two words:

"Fool."

On the other side, Lu Keming and Shen Minghua arrived at the underground passage earlier than expected.

The entrance to this former subway passage is at the intersection of streets and is now completely abandoned. Only the vine-covered road sign next to it reminds us of its existence.

The streets were covered with pale pink wild flowers, swaying gently in the breeze. The fragrance of the flowers was blown away by the wind and flowed into Lu Keming's nostrils.

Lu Keming walked to the entrance of the underground passage. Green vines blocked the entrance, and through the vines he could vaguely see the stairs leading to the underground.

"Go this way." Shen Minghua found a gap in the vines and turned back to call Lu Keming.

Lu Keming walked towards him. The gap was just big enough for one person to pass through, and there was a staircase under the gap.

Shen Minghua jumped down from the cave entrance, and Lu Keming followed Shen Minghua down.

As Lu Keming moved, two small exclamations came from behind him, "Be careful, be careful."

Shen Minghua stopped and looked around: "What's that sound?"

Lu Keming listened to the familiar voice and turned his head as if he had sensed something. He saw two white elves grabbing his collar with their short, chubby hands and climbing up to his shoulders with a whooshing sound.

When they reached the shoulders, the two elves fell down together, panting and patting their round bellies, complaining:

“I almost fell.”

"Yes, I almost fell."

Shen Minghua looked at the familiar little white balls and asked in disbelief: "Aren't these little elves the teeth of the Wendigo?!"

These little white balls should stay in the swamp castle, why are they here?

When the two elves heard Shen Minghua's surprised voice, they climbed up from Lu Keming's shoulders, patted their butts, and jumped around hand in hand, imitating Shen Minghua's words.

"Wendigo teeth?"

"Wendigo Teeth!"

"They are not wendigo teeth. They are not wendigo teeth."

Hearing the elf's denial, Shen Minghua looked a little surprised and asked, "What is that?"

“It’s a blessing, a blessing!”

Shen Minghua understood that they meant their name was Blessing.

Lu Keming looked at the elf dancing on his shoulder, his eyes softened, and he asked in a low voice:

"When did you catch up?"

One of the blessings actively moved closer to Lu Keming's cheek and answered in a crisp voice, just like their master: "Always here."

Another blessing also replied: "Yes, it has always been there."

Lu Keming reacted quickly.

It was probably left by Youyou when she patted his shoulder before he left.

Lu Keming narrowed his eyes, raised the corners of his mouth, and revealed a faint smile.

Seeing that Lu Keming was not surprised at all, Shen Minghua looked a little strange, and mistakenly thought that it was Lu Keming who took the blessing away from that world:

"So you also smuggled the blessing out of the swamp castle?"
