God's Gift

Chapter 270 Meeting an old friend

As soon as he finished speaking, everyone in the audience was quiet for a moment, but soon became noisy again.

"How can a god die?!"

Lu Keming also heard these words, but for some reason, his heart skipped a beat. However, he just thought it was because of the talisman paper and did not think much about it.

However, these words did make Lu Keming stunned. He lowered his eyes and thought about these words in his heart.

Yu Youyou's eyes met Ning Yue's from a distance, but Ning Yue was still smiling.

Under Ning Yue's gaze, she seemed to remember something, and the finger that was placed on her lips unconsciously stretched into her lips, and her white teeth bit into the soft flesh.

Lu Keming didn't think this problem through, he just shook his head and let the matter go. He looked up at Yu Youyou, but as soon as he raised his eyes, he saw Yu Youyou biting her hand.

"Don't bite."

He spoke softly, and when Yu Youyou noticed his voice and stopped, he held Yu Youyou's wrist with his thin white hand and slowly pulled out her fingertips.

Then Lu Keming took out a handkerchief from his sleeve and wiped Yu Youyou's fingertips methodically, rubbing it slowly and carefully as if he was treating a finely carved jade treasure.

While wiping, Yu Youyou still stared at Ning Yue and did not pay attention to Lu Keming's actions.

The teeth marks on her fingers quickly disappeared, but Lu Keming did not stop. He glanced sideways at Yu Youyou, and his eyes gradually darkened.

But Lu Keming did not say anything. He lowered his eyes as if nothing had happened and looked intently at Yu Youyou's fingers. His movements did not stop at all, but the force was a little stronger than before.

His long, thick eyelashes drooped, covering his eyes which were as cold and wet as the mist beneath them, but the gloom in his eyes seemed to be real.

Ning Yue's words just now came to his mind again, so he used this as a topic and asked Yu Youyou, "Youyou, do you think that gods can die?"

These words made Yu Youyou retract her gaze from Ning Yue. She turned to look at Lu Keming, her eyes as clear and bright as ever, and she responded seriously:

"Of course he will die."

Lu Keming raised his eyes to look at Yu Youyou. Yu Youyou looked at him and saw that he seemed unhappy. She thought he cared about this matter and explained:

"But that's okay. Only when the old gods perish can the new gods be born."

She patted his shoulder and comforted him like an adult:

“It’s always like this.”

At this moment, Yu Youyou saw a woman in a white shirt soaked all over slowly walking into the entrance of Huachunfang. She withdrew her hand and said in confusion:

"Why is Li Yu here?"

When Lu Keming heard this, he immediately raised his eyes and looked towards the door. Li Yu was indeed walking towards the hall.

But her target was not the guests in the hall. Her eyes were always looking at Ning Yue on the stage. She left several wet footprints on the ground and attacked Ning Yue.

Ning Yue didn't seem to see her. Seeing Yu Youyou and Lu Keming staring at him, he paused fanning himself with the folding fan. Just as he was about to ask them something, Li Yu walked in front of Ning Yue.

He still didn't seem to see it.

Just as Li Yu was about to touch Ning Yue, a man rushed in from the gate of Huachun Fang.

It’s Taoist Priest Minghua.

Without any hesitation, he threw a few yellow talismans from his sleeves and threw them at Li Yu, then quickly stepped forward and put Li Yu into his Qiankun bag.

The whole process was smooth and flowing, and Li Yu was caught in the bag before anyone could react.

Before Ning Yue knew what was happening, Minghua had already subdued the ghost. He looked at Minghua who suddenly appeared in front of him, with a look of surprise and doubt on his face.

"Master Minghua, what are you doing here?"

Minghua's face turned pale. He replied, "My name is Minghua. The rain today is not right. I guessed that Li Yu was causing trouble, so I have been tracking her in the city. I happened to see her outside Huachunfang. I was worried that she would hurt someone, so I broke in."

Minghua bowed to Ning Yue and apologized, "If I have disturbed you, I apologize first."

When everyone heard what Minghua said, they realized that there was a ghost around them. They were immediately frightened and ran out in panic.

Ning Yue also seemed to be frightened, and said with lingering fear: "It turned out that the Taoist priest caught the ghost. I should thank the Taoist priest for saving my life. How could I blame him?"

Minghua's expression remained unchanged despite Ning Yue's gratitude. He said in a neither humble nor arrogant manner, "It is my responsibility."

The wound on his chest split open due to the action just now, and the wet liquid soaked the cloth. He endured the pain and said, "Since I have caught the ghost, I will leave first."

Lu Keming and Yu Youyou were standing behind a red gauze curtain at this time. When they saw Minghua preparing to leave, they were about to come out when they heard Ning Yue's voice.

Ning Yue didn't seem to want to let Minghua go just like that. He stopped Minghua and asked, "I have a question. Can you help me solve it?"

Minghua had already raised his foot, but after hearing what Ning Yue said, he continued to stand in front of Ning Yue and said patiently, "Sir, please ask."

"I heard that the Taoist priest came from far away, but he stayed in the city for several months. Why is that?"

Ning Yue said he had some questions, but what he asked was not about anything important. Instead, he started to care about Minghua's private affairs.

But despite his rudeness, Minghua did not regard Ning Yue's words as a joke, but replied seriously:

"I came down the mountain to travel for the sake of world peace. The evil spirits in Gusu City have not been eliminated. If I leave casually, I will abandon the people of Gusu and betray the oath I made when I became your disciple."

Ning Yue nodded thoughtfully, and replied as if he had suddenly realized something:

"So that's how it is. I thought it was just like the rumors said, that there was a woman in red in Gusu who kept pestering the Taoist priest, and the Taoist priest was tempted by her, so he was reluctant to leave."

Having said that, it was indeed too much. Minghua also understood that the man in front of him had no good intentions, so he said calmly:

"The way I practice is Zhengyi. The commandment you mentioned about not wanting to have worldly desires is not a commandment of the Zhengyi sect."

Ning Yue did not stop because of Minghua's cold tone, but continued to ask: "According to what you said, Taoists in your sect can still marry. Could it be that you really stayed because of that woman?"

Lu Keming stood behind the curtain, looking at Ning Yue's deliberate delay. His eyes turned cold and he gritted his teeth in impatience.

But Minghua was unwilling to discuss the issue with Ning Yue. He turned around and was about to leave, but heard Ning Yue ask slowly:

"The Taoist priest is about to leave. I was wondering why he came down the mountain to gain experience. Can't the Taoist priest satisfy my interest?"

Minghua frowned and ignored Ning Yue. But after he took a few steps, the madam of Huachunfang heard the noise downstairs, got up and went downstairs to check, and bumped into Minghua.

Minghua looked at the man, his pupils dilated for a moment, and there was a hint of astonishment on his face.

"Teacher's wife?"
