God's Gift

Chapter 258 Are friends

Lu Keming lowered his eyes and looked at Yu Youyou quietly in the crowded crowd.

Seeing that he hadn't spoken for a long time, Yu Youyou stepped out of his arms, raised her head and saw Lu Keming's bad face, and her voice sounded confused.

"Lu Keming, why are you unhappy?"

Lu Keming hadn't answered Yu Youyou's question quickly, his vision was a little blurry, but Yu Youyou's dark and watery eyes were clearly reflected in his eyes.

It was like he had seen this pair countless times before he knew it.

It felt like a sour plum had fallen into my heart, and the sour feeling spread throughout my body through the blood.

Lu Keming seemed extremely tired. He slowly lowered his head and buried it in Yu Youyou's neck.

His soft long hair fell on Yu Youyou's face, rubbing her skin gently. Yu Youyou felt a little itchy, so she raised her hand and grabbed the hair away.

Lu Keming closed his eyes tiredly and said softly:

"I killed someone today."

Today, Lu Keming was not wearing white clothes as usual. The dark clothes reflected the bloodstains on the fabric, making him look no different from ordinary people.

But now that he was closer, the smell of blood on his body rushed into Yu Youyou's nostrils, like an ocean where a fight had taken place, with scarlet blood spreading layer by layer in the blue water.

Yu Youyou turned her head to look at Lu Keming and said frankly: "But you have killed many people before."

"Yes..." Lu Keming listened to Yu Youyou's words, his voice coming from Yu Youyou's shoulder, a little muffled.

"I have killed many people."

He had indeed killed many people. Ever since he gained spiritual intelligence, he had been following the madam. He would do whatever she asked him to do. He had killed countless innocent souls, but he had never felt guilty.

What's more, he is a demon. Killing people is like a human slaughtering a fish. Which butcher would lose his mind after killing a fish?

But today is a little different.

Lu Keming found a drunkard and wanted to kill him. But in a corner of the drunkard's house there was a dog chained with an iron chain. The dog was skinny and bony, and it seemed that he had not lived a good life.

As soon as he entered the yard, the dog started barking loudly, trying to drive him away.

Lu Keming didn't take it seriously, but the drunkard in the house became angry when he heard the dog's roar. He first threw a jar of wine out of the house, and then came out to check, cursing.

As soon as he walked into the yard, he saw Lu Keming. After a drunken look, he was sure that he did not know Lu Keming and wanted him to get out.

Lu Keming originally wanted to kill the man directly like he had done before with his heart ripped out, but the moment he made a move he remembered the embarrassment of having blood on his hand when he first met Yu Youyou, so he withdrew his hand and took out his sword.

When the drunkard saw the sword, he was frightened and sobered up immediately. He kept backing away in fear, and when he reached the stairs, he stumbled and fell to the ground.

The dog seemed to sense its master's fear and started barking even more wildly. It struggled continuously, broke free from the chain, grabbed the sword, and tried to bite Lu Keming's leg.

Lu Keming didn't give it a chance. He waved the dog aside casually, then walked towards the drunkard lying on the ground and raised his sword towards him.

The dog was wounded but persevered and crawled to the drunkard, continuing to bark at Lu Keming.

Lu Keming looked at the blood on the dog's body and began to lose his focus, remembering what the madam had said to him.

"Give it a name first, then give it some small favors."

"The dog will then regard that person as its master, be completely devoted to him, and even be willing to die for him."

Lu Keming focused his eyes and looked at the dog who was desperately blocking the drunkard. He cursed, "How stupid."

But he put away his sword and stepped back.

The drunkard on the ground saw that Lu Keming was distracted and thought he had seized the opportunity. He pushed the dog forward hard, staggered to his feet and ran to the back door.

But when the dog was pushed like this, it hit Lu Keming's sword, and the sharp sword immediately pierced the dog's body.

Bright red blood dripped from the tip of the sword. The dog barked in pain a few times, and the sound gradually weakened.

Lu Keming paused in his retreat, his indigo eyes fixed on the dog on the sword, without moving for a long time.

Only when the dog was completely dead did he slowly raise his eyes, catch up with the drunkard who was fleeing in panic, and stab him to death with a sword.

After collecting the drunkard's soul, Lu Keming looked at the dog's corpse on the side. The bright red blood was shining in the sunlight and gradually seeped into the stone slab.

But Lu Keming seemed to be in a trance, with countless images filling his mind, giving him a splitting headache.

One time it was the madam, and the other time it was Yu Youyou who appeared in his dreams these days. Their voices kept tearing at his brain, causing Lu Keming to slowly close his eyes.

-

Lu Keming did not speak again, but just buried his head in silence on Yu Youyou's shoulder. Seeing that he did not answer, Yu Youyou thought for a while, took out a piece of chestnut cake wrapped in oil paper, and asked Lu Keming, "Do you want to eat chestnut cake?"

Lu Keming raised his head and looked at the chestnut cake in her hand quietly for a while before reaching out to take it.

But he did not eat the chestnut cake immediately. Instead, he put the cake in his sleeve and said to Youyou:

"Would you like to take a walk around the city?"

"Okay." Yu Youyou nodded without hesitation, took Lu Keming's hand and led him to the street, saying, "Let's go buy some sugar paintings."

"I've met the sugar painting grandma many times, but every time I don't know what to ask her to draw. Can you help me think about it?"

"Okay." Lu Keming looked at Yu Youyou who was holding his hand naturally, the orange light reflected in his indigo eyes, and a faint smile finally appeared at the corner of his mouth.

Not long after they walked, Yu Youyou's little dogs caught up with them, surrounded them and made a path for them in the crowded market.

Lu Keming looked at the group of dogs that were surrounding him, and thought of the dog that died under the sword. His calm eyes began to ripple, and he asked:

"Youyou, how did you tame these dogs?"

"Tamed?" When Yu Youyou heard Lu Keming's question, she turned her head in confusion, as if she didn't understand the meaning of the word.

Lu Keming explained: "To change an animal that was originally wild, to make it obedient to oneself, and to turn it into a docile and harmless pet is called taming."

After saying that, he paused for a second, and then continued: "If humans want to tame dogs, they must give them names and then give them benefits."

“Hmm…” After hearing what Lu Keming said, Yu Youyou denied it after a brief thought: “But I didn’t tame them.”

When Lu Keming heard Yu Youyou say this, he looked puzzled and asked, "Why haven't they been tamed? Why do they keep following you?"

Yu Youyou looked at the dogs around her, shook her head, and said with a smile: "I didn't change them, nor did I ask them to obey me, and they are not my pets."

"They are my friends, and I named them so that I can find them more easily."

"Besides, good friends should share with each other. If I have something delicious, I will give it to them as well."

As she walked along, she saw a grass sprout growing on the bluestone slab in front of her. She jumped over it and continued:

"They keep following me because they like me and I like them too."
