God's Gift

Chapter 22 Hero's Treasure

Yu Youyou lay on the ground, touched her head, struggled to sit up, patted her dusty skirt, and sighed softly.

I only saw them going upstairs, but I haven't seen how they went downstairs.

Human legs are so useless. It would be great if we had eight legs like an octopus. Then we would definitely not fall down.

Her stomach started growling again. Yu Youyou's face wrinkled and she quickly got up from the ground and looked for something to eat.

But after walking around the hall a few times and finding nothing, Yu Youyou's stomach began to growl. The expression on her face became more and more anxious, and she kept walking around the living room like a headless fly that was about to starve to death.

So hungry, so hungry, so hungry...

When she had turned around the living room for the ninety-ninth time, someone from Baige finally came into the living room. He was frightened when he saw Yu Youyou spinning around like a starving ghost.

"Yu Youyou, what are you doing?"

Yu Youyou's eyes lit up, and she ran towards the member, grabbed his hand, and spoke urgently:

"So hungry..."

The Baige member was surprised for a long time when he saw Yu Youyou's appearance.

"So hungry?"

I haven't had a good meal for at least a few days.

But he thought about it again and felt it was normal, "Yes, the nutrient solution is not enough to relieve hunger, not everyone can accept it."

Yu Youyou pulled his hand and slid to the ground, still muttering.

Member Baige pointed at Youyou, "The kitchen is behind that, if you want to eat, go there and find it."

Yu Youyou rolled and crawled to her feet from the ground. Her originally weak steps instantly became several times more firm, and she headed straight towards the kitchen.

The White Dove member was left standing there in confusion.

How come it got better all of a sudden?

Yu Youyou rushed into the kitchen and scared the girl who was cleaning in the kitchen.

"What's wrong with you?" The girl stared at Yu Youyou with a fierce look in her eyes, trembling with fear.

After staring at her for a few seconds, Yu Youyou pulled the girl's hand in the same way and spoke in a pitiful voice.

"I am so hungry."

When the girl heard Yu Youyou's words, she realized that Yu Youyou was hungry, and she looked at Yu Youyou with sympathy.

"Poor little thing, you must have not had any food following Captain Ye and President Shen. They are so strong, they just rely on the nutrient solution. How can ordinary people like us compare to them?"

The girl's sympathy was overflowing, so she handed all the remaining buns in the pot to Yu Youyou.

"We made these just because we were afraid of being hungry. They're just steamed buns and nothing else. Please don't despise them."

Yu Youyou quickly stretched out her hand, showing with her actions that she had no idea what disdain was.

Seeing that her hands couldn't hold the buns, she took the initiative to make a pocket out of her skirt. Her dark, shiny eyes looked at the girl expectantly, motioning for the girl to put the buns in her pocket.

The girl looked at Yu Youyou's actions, laughed out loud, and put the steamed bun into her pocket.

Yu Youyou put her head on the girl's shoulder, rubbed her shoulder with her fluffy head like a puppy, then looked at the girl with her bright eyes and thanked her sincerely.

"Thank you."

The girl responded to Yu Youyou's thanks with a smile and told her to take the food outside to eat as she still had to clean up the kitchen.

Yu Youyou nodded, held the buns in her hands like they were treasures, walked outside, and sat next to the fence to eat them.

This was her first time eating steamed buns, and an expression of joy appeared on her face with every bite.

What the hell, it’s the second most delicious thing in the world after sugar!

Her legs dangled happily over the fence.

It was dark on the road outside, and I could only vaguely see the outlines of the houses and the faint lights of the houses in the distance.

Suddenly, a hand grabbed Yu Youyou's leg.

Yu Youyou was stunned for a moment and lowered her head to look at the hand.

A pair of dry, dark, and dirty hands fell on her white calves, leaving several gray marks.

Yu Youyou tilted her head.

Slowly, a hunched figure crawled out from the corner.

The figure looked like an old man, covered in dirt, with dry hair stuck together in clumps. He was wearing thick clothes, the patterns on which were completely covered by black stains.

He stared at the steamed bun in Yu Youyou's pocket, made a hoarse sound in his throat, and stretched out his hand towards Yu Youyou.

Yu Youyou looked at his actions and took two seconds to realize that he wanted steamed buns.

"Oh." Yu Youyou nodded in understanding, lowered her head, took out a steamed bun from her pocket, and handed it generously to that hand.

"for you."

The old man quickly snatched the steamed bun from Yu Youyou’s hand, hid aside, and wolfed down the bun.

He dealt with one within a few seconds and moved next to Yu Youyou.

Yu Youyou handed him two this time.

The old man returned to the corner, this time much slower.

Yu Youyou tilted her face and stared at the old man.

The old man ate three steamed buns and seemed full. He was groping for something over there.

Only then did Yu Youyou lower her head and continue eating steamed buns.

Suddenly, a hoarse and dry voice came from there.

"Have you heard the story of this hero?"

Yu Youyou stopped what she was saying, tilted her head and looked at the old man with her bright eyes.

"A long time ago, this place was a barren land with no grass growing. It was barren and no food could grow in the land."

The old man was telling a story, but it seemed like he was talking to himself.

“The villagers who fled here died of starvation and disease.”

"The young hero couldn't bear to watch the villagers continue to die, so he searched everywhere for fertile soil and water, hoping to bring life to this barren land."

Yu Youyou blinked as she listened to the old man's story.

It tells the story of the village chief.

"But how could he find fertile soil in this land of exile? He searched everywhere like a fool, but found nothing."

"There are fewer and fewer people in the village."

"And he also fell off a cliff during one of his searches."

"But fate finally favored him. He fell off the cliff, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise and he found the source of life."

"He brought fertile soil and seeds back to the village, and life finally grew in this barren land."

"The villagers survived and everyone is thanking him and calling him a hero."

When the old man was telling himself this story, his logic was quite clear.

But after he finished speaking, he became confused, repeating meaningless words and incomprehensible sentences.

Yu Youyou pricked up her ears and listened for a long time before she could barely understand some of it.

"treasure……"

"…The hero traded his treasure for the lives of all the villagers."

“Kill him… Kill him…”

"Give me the treasure, I want the treasure..."

It was clearly said before that the village chief found water and seeds under the cliff, but now it has become that the village chief exchanged treasures for the lives of the villagers.

Yu Youyou stared at the unconscious old man for a long time, her expression unclear in the night.

The old man muttered to himself in the corner for a long time before he limped away hunched over.
