HP: The Blood Prince of Hogwarts

Chapter 54 Calling for God’s Guard

"Are you and Draco in a relationship?"

Snape asked expressionlessly as they entered the cellar.

Olga: ?

"I look like I have a lot of free time? Do I have time to fall in love?" Olga asked back with the same expressionless face.

Snape:…

"Then I'm not sure." Snape said this, but his expression was not as tense as before.

"Haha." Olga smirked.

"How much do you know about the Patronus Charm?" Snape calmly changed the subject.

"I don't understand at all." Olga said lamely.

Snape:…

"Miss, please take this seriously. You don't want to faint in front of the Dementors for the third time, do you?" Snape said in a deep voice.

"I told you it was an accident!" Olga was still trying to be stubborn and rebellious.

The two people's eyes met, neither of them giving in.

Finally, Snape compromised first: "Even if it was an accident, do you want it to happen again?"

Olga: "I just think that addressing the root cause is the best way to permanently eliminate the problem rather than just a short-term expulsion."

"That makes sense, but only if there are no accidents."

Olga: ...

An accident on the left, an accident on the right,

So annoying!

Seeing that Olga did not continue to refute, Snape moved on to the main topic of today with satisfaction.

"The Patronus Charm is the most powerful and ancient defensive spell, and therefore extremely difficult—"

Snape looked at Olga: "But from what I know, Miss Olga seems to have a high talent for magic. Maybe she can easily master the Patronus Charm."

No one doesn't like nice words.

Especially since these nice words came from the mouth of the sharp-tongued dean.

Olga: Since he's praising me, I'll just listen to him reluctantly.

The corner of Snape's mouth raised slightly.

He seemed to have found a way to control this little prince.

"Some wizards with low talent can only cast a ball of silver vapor. Although it has a certain protective effect, it is still not as good as the real complete patronus form."

At this point, Snape used provocation: "But I believe that Miss Olga is gifted and will definitely have a complete Patronus."

"Hmm." Olga raised her little head.

"Different people have different forms of Patronus. So... concentrate, think of the happiest thing in your mind, and then chant 'Expecto Patronus'."

Snape motioned for Olga to try it.

Olga obediently took out her staff.

Some people get used to being embarrassed.

Snape saw the glowing wand fall into silence for a moment.

I've heard that Olga's staff is extraordinary, and now I see it.

"Expect God to Guard." The girl's clear voice sounded, and then -

Nothing happened.

The man and the vampire in the cellar seemed to be under a spell of immobilization, standing there in a daze.

Olga stared at her ornate staff in disbelief, as if wondering if it was malfunctioning.

For the first time, a vampire had no reaction to magic.

"Ahem," Snape coughed lightly to break the solemn atmosphere, "It's normal to have no reaction on your first try. Remember, you must do your best to recall happy things, or things that are full of love and hope."

Olga didn't have time to think about how abrupt it was to hear Snape speak of love and hope.

She tried to recall some happy times: the novelty of sneaking into the human world with Odysseus; the surprise of picking up Zero; the joy of being recognized by her elder and second brothers; the sense of accomplishment of conquering those restless pure-blood families; the secret joy of having friends after coming to Hogwarts...

"Expecto Patronus." Olga's tone was a little hesitant this time.

no response.

……

Snape: "What were you thinking about when you cast the spell?"

Olga briefly explained.

"Too complicated. Try to focus on one thing, the happiest thing."

Olga frowned. What is the happiest thing?

"I'm sorry, professor. I don't quite understand how to define this completely subjective feeling."

"Happiness is happiness, unhappiness is unhappiness. How do we measure the difference?"

Snape frowned. "The degree of happiness is naturally different."

Olga shook her head to show that she couldn't understand, and asked sincerely:

"What makes you happiest?"

Snape remained silent, obviously not wanting to say more.

Olga: "Can I see your patronus?"

Snape still didn't say anything, but silently picked up his wand and waved it.

A silver-white doe slowly walked up to Olga.

Olga was a little surprised: "It's not a bat?"

Snape:?

"Well, I mean, it's beautiful."

Snape put away his wand, and the graceful doe disappeared.

"Go on." A cold voice sounded, and Olga raised her staff helplessly.

"Focus on one thing. If that doesn't work, think about your suitors one by one. There will always be one that makes you happiest and most excited."

Snape's venom came late.

……

Olga took a deep breath and said, "Expecto Patronus."

Scored three times.

Snape: "…What are you thinking about this time?"

Olga: "I imagined what would make me happiest at the moment."

"What?" Snape asked subconsciously.

"Successfully cast the Patronus Charm."

The veins on Snape's forehead throbbed a few times, and he tried hard to suppress the urge to roar.

"Please don't assume anything meaningless. Before your Patronus appears, any assumptions you make will only hinder the success of the spell. After all, you have no idea what your Patronus will be."

Olga didn't think her patronus would be anything other than a bat.

But her main point is to listen to advice.

"Call the gods to protect you."

This time, there was finally a slight change at the front end of the staff, and a tiny bit of white light emerged.

Snape's expression improved a little. "It's good to have some progress. What are you thinking about?"

Olga: "A great moment of killing everyone."

Snape:…

Is it too late to regret now?

He shouldn't have tried to snatch the person from Lupin. It's useless to do anything about it.

"That kind of short-lived pleasure is not enough to support the appearance of the Patronus. Let's stop here for today. When you go back, think carefully about what can bring you long-term happiness."

If this doesn't end, he'll probably be pissed off to death.

Olga: "Is it possible that I am really an unhappy vampire?"

"Now, immediately, get out of my office! Think it over before you come back!" Snape couldn't help but transform into the Roaring Emperor.

……

It would be a lie to say that she wasn't disappointed, especially after seeing Snape's patronus. Olga actually wanted to see the little bat in the state of her own patronus.

But she really couldn't think of anything worth being happy about for the rest of her life.

The life of a vampire has no end, and over a long period of time, all experiences seem insignificant.

She has to face too many people and things every day, and there are many things that can make her happy, but it's only that moment.

She never lives in the past. The past is past and there is no point in thinking about it.

It is better to look forward to the future than to reminisce about the past.

"So I really am a very unhappy vampire." Olga murmured.
