Pokémon: Join Team Rocket at the Beginning

Chapter 10 The assessment begins

More than a dozen official members of the Rockets team came in one after another and carried away the seven newcomers who had withdrawn.

Some of the newcomers in the audience were stunned, not understanding why the instructor suddenly turned hostile, some were gloating, and more were secretly glad for their earlier decision.

"Are you happy?"

Ghost Wolf's face was icy as he glanced at the people in the audience. "Don't think you are luckier than those people, and don't think I am trying to scare you. If I remember correctly, five of the newcomers in the last batch died, and twelve became disabled. As for you, hehe..."

The sinister laughter made everyone's hearts tighten. No longer were they secretly glad for their choices as before, but they began to feel uneasy.

Yang Ming looked calm as he gently stroked the Poké Ball in his pocket. In this month, he had trained his Rattata to the limit. Compared with the Rattatas in the hands of other newcomers, his Rattata was not only bigger in size, but had even started to shed its hair recently. Some of the purple hair began to fall off, and was replaced by new brown hair.

Yang Ming knew that this was the prelude to evolution.

Guilang led more than forty freshmen into the corridor of the combat area, then turned two corners, took an elevator and came to the ground.

No one expected that the content of the assessment was actually on the ground.

Yang Ming originally thought that the assessment was to fight Pokémon simulated by computers in a battle simulation room, but now it seems that it is not that simple.

Leaving from the back door, three large black trucks were already waiting there. Ghost Wolf got into the passenger seat of one of them, while the others could only enter the interior that looked like a truck compartment and then leave.

The truck bumped along the way and finally stopped after driving for about half an hour.

When everyone got off the car, they found themselves at the seaside, with a small island covered with lush vegetation in front of them.

Several official members of the Rockets Team were already waiting here, and they began to distribute bags to everyone.

Yang Ming opened the bag and found three Poké Balls, a map and what looked like a simple flare.

The ghost wolf stood on a high rock, looking down at everyone with cold eyes.

"The content of this test is very simple. There are ten powerful Pokémon on this island. Your task is to defeat these ten Pokémon and obtain the tokens on them."

"These three Poké Balls can be used to capture wild Pokémon. You know how to use them. The other one is a flare. Once you get the token, you can fire it. Then our people will come to pick you up. But be careful. The noise from the flare may attract attacks from wild Pokémon."

After hearing the content of the assessment, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

Since there are three Pokémon Balls, it means that you can capture new Pokémon to serve as combat power. As long as you have a second Pokémon as a helper, it is not difficult to defeat only one Pokémon to obtain the token.

Anyway, during this month, everyone has gone to the battle simulation room for practice, and they all think that a mere wild Pokémon is no big deal.

The only problem was that there were only ten tokens, but there were more than forty people present, which meant that competition among them was inevitable.

Thinking of this, everyone's looks towards each other began to turn unfriendly.

Yang Ming felt that this matter was not that simple. He quietly looked through the map and found that the location of the target Pokémon was not marked on the map.

It’s really not that simple…

Although wild Pokémon don't stand still like targets, their approximate habitats should also be marked. In this situation, more than 40 newcomers are searching the island like headless flies.

Moreover, what is the point of issuing a map without marking important targets during the assessment?

Yang Ming felt that the instructor would not do this without a purpose, and this map should be able to play a role in the assessment.

After explaining everything, everyone began to enter the island one after another.

They didn't use a boat or anything to enter the island, but instead had several official members release a few psychic-type Pokémon named Casey, which teleported everyone to the island randomly.

Yang Ming was teleported to a relatively flat grassy area and fell down on his butt.

The feeling of teleportation was not very good. Yang Ming only felt his head was dizzy, just like an experience of seasickness when he was young.

After a short rest, Yang Ming was about to leave, but accidentally tripped over something hard.

It’s not quite right to call it a “thing”. It was a rock that was not even as high as his knees. It was brown all over, and the key point was that there were two fists as big as sandbags growing on the rock.

How can this be a rock? This is clearly a rock-type Pokémon - Geodude!

Yang Ming couldn't help but become alert. Although he had defeated the computer-simulated Geodude in a simulated battle, encountering it in the wild without supplies was a completely different matter.

Just when he was about to send out the Rattata to fight, a discovery made his tense nerves relax.

The little Geodude was lying on the grass and snoring at the moment, completely unaware of Yang Ming's presence. The snot bubbles that occasionally blew out of its nostrils were the best proof of this.

As soon as he found out that Geodude was in a deep sleep, Yang Ming's mind suddenly became active. He touched the empty Poké Ball in his pocket, thinking about how to capture the defenseless Geodude.

Geodude is a Pokémon with Rock and Ground attributes. Its Ground attribute skills can effectively restrain Steel and Rock attribute Pokémon that Rattata is not good at dealing with, and it can become a helper for Rattata in the future.

Putting this point aside, the good defensive power of Geodude alone is enough for Yang Ming to take it into consideration.

Just when Yang Ming was about to subdue the Fist Rock, the noises around him made his mind suddenly chill.

He discovered that there was a sound of rolling stones not far away. Yang Ming walked forward cautiously to check, only to find a large group of little Geodudes playing and fighting on the grass. They rolled up their bodies into a ball, continuously rolling down from the highest point of the grass, then ran back to the higher point to continue rolling down. When they were tired of playing, they would find a place to sleep, just like the little Geodude that Yang Ming met.

Yang Ming let out a long sigh. He was glad that he did not rashly try to capture the Geodude. The capture ability of the Poké Ball was not 100%. If the capture failed, it would definitely attract this group of Geodudes. Then he would probably be the first to be eliminated.

Yang Ming stood on tiptoe and left the grass as quietly as possible.

He decided to be cautious on this island and not capture new Pokémon unless he was absolutely sure.
