The Witcher: Darkness Falls

Chapter 88 An unexpected encounter

Madison rode a horse to the city of Nilfgaard, but compared to his usual fully armed appearance, he was now dressed more like a sturdier civilian.

In addition, even the warhorse he rode was replaced with an ordinary horse.

"Where is Leon? How can I find him?" Madison looked at the unfamiliar environment around him, thinking helplessly.

Four days ago, he received an order from the Earl of Grampian to assist Lyon in the investigation.

When he found the hotel where Lyon was staying, the owner told him that Lyon had been away for a day.

He immediately set out to chase after him, but was unable to catch up along the way.

He even doubted whether Leon was taking the same path as him.

However, he traveled all night to Nilfgaard, and it was impossible for him to return to Grampian and question all the guards.

But now, how can he find Leon?

The Nilfgaard region is very large, and he was not even sure whether the other party would come to this golden tower city.

"Damn it!" Madison cursed under his breath.

He was tired and hungry after traveling all night, and now he had to find a witcher.

He felt his mind was in a mess and he had no idea what to think.

"Let's go find Falco first and rest at his place for a night. I'm afraid I'll need his help next." Madison thought to himself.

Falco is his good friend and they have known each other for many years.

The only difference is that he is the commander of the city guards in Grampian, while Falco is in Nilfgaard City, and it seems that he was promoted a month ago.

Madison rode to the other party's door, which was a single-family house made of stone. Looking inside from the fence, he could see a donkey pulling the millstone to turn, and a woman with a big belly pouring wheat into the millstone.

"Kelly!" Madison jumped off the horse and shouted to the pregnant woman inside.

The pregnant woman turned around in confusion, then her eyes widened and she said in surprise: "Madison! Why did you open it! Please wait a moment!"

She put down the wheat, walked over carefully and opened the gate of the fence: "Come in, oh! Why are you so tired? What happened? Jasmine! Jasmine!"

Soon, a maid ran out of the room: "Madam, what happened?"

"Hurry up and prepare some food. My friend is tired and hungry." Kelly instructed the maid, then turned to ask Madison, "What do you want to eat? How about oatmeal? And some beef and eel!"

"All right, thank you." Madison thanked him tiredly.

"Why are you doing it yourself again? Didn't I tell you to take a rest?" The maid Jasmine complained. She was wiping her hands on her black apron, and it was obvious that she had just been cleaning the house.

"Hello, sir! Please come in, the food will be here soon. And your wife, please go back to the house and rest!" The maid Jasmine stepped forward, took the reins from Madison, and took the horse to the stable to tie it up.

Madison supported Kelly and carefully returned to the room.

"You're mentally exhausted." Ke sat on a chair, looked at Madison worriedly and said, "What happened? Your hair has turned a little gray!"

Madison smiled bitterly and said, "It's a long story. Some things happened in the Grampian area in the past few months, and I was very busy."

"So now... has the Earl given you some time to rest?" asked Keli.

Madison shook his head, looking miserable.

He took a deep breath and said, "No, I still have a mission to accomplish. I came here hoping to get Falco's help."

"Don't be in a hurry, drink some water first." Kelly poured a glass of water for Madison and said.

"Thank you." Madison nodded. He took a sip of water to calm down, then told the story of what happened in Grampian during this period and his mission.

Of course, he didn't mention some of the more sensitive parts for the time being.

Keli listened carefully, exclaiming from time to time, and in the end, there was even a terrifying expression on her face.

"Goblins... dwarf-like monsters are wreaking havoc in the Grampian area! Oh my God!" Kelly exclaimed, then looked at Madison with pity and said, "You have been very hard during this period."

Madison shook his head slightly. It was hard work, but if the next crisis was not resolved, it would probably be even more dangerous.

Although Lord Grampian did not clearly explain what would happen when he came to see him, his tone and the sadness in his eyes made him understand the seriousness of the situation.

In his eyes, the Earl of Grampian has always been a wise earl and a very capable person.

Even he felt it was troublesome, and he even immediately issued a special call for a demon hunter, which was almost always done in times of war.

This shows that in the Earl of Grampian's mind, the goblins and even the conspiracy behind them have been treated as a war by the Earl.

Madison felt that the responsibility on his shoulders was heavier than a mountain.

"Ma'am! Please help us! We are at our wits' end!"

"Ma'am! Is Lord Falco here? We want to talk to him!"

……

At this moment, there was a shouting voice outside the door. Madison turned his head and felt that the voice was somewhat familiar.

"Jasmine, tell them Falco is not at home! He has been away for the past few days, tell them not to disturb me anymore!" Kelly shouted.

"What's going on?" Madison asked, "Do you need help?"

Keli thought for a moment, then said, “It’s not a big deal, just a month ago, Falco was ordered to capture a monster.

But it is said that the monster has a master, a dwarf and a midget, but this matter was ordered by Falco's superior, and he had no power to do anything.

I just don't know how the dwarves and midgets found our house these days, but unfortunately, Falco hasn't been home for a week.

I can’t help you in this state now.”

Madison stood up suddenly, "I think I can help."

Kelly looked at Madison in confusion.

Madison consoled him, "Please wait a moment."

After saying that, he turned around and walked out of the room and into the yard, just in time to see Jasmine holding a broom, blocking the door with an angry look on her face.

"Get out of here! My lady is pregnant, and you're making such a fuss. If anything happens to my lady, I'll throw you all in jail!"

The dwarf and the midget looked exhausted, and they stood at the door without moving any further.

The dwarf pleaded, "Miss, we are really in a hurry, we..."

"Zivar!"

The dwarf looked up and then his eyes widened: "Captain Madison! Why are you here?"

Madison looked at the dwarf next to the dwarf. Although the other person looked much better, he still recognized him at a glance. This was the dwarf who was dying a month ago.

"Sir, do you know each other?" Keli looked at the people on both sides in confusion.

Madison finally had some clues. He nodded and said, "Yes, we know each other. They won't do anything to Keli."

"But..." Jasmine was a little hesitant.

"Let them in, Jasmine, and prepare more food." Keli came to the door and shouted with her big belly.
