The Witcher: Darkness Falls

Chapter 47 A near miss

"Is there any way we can help him?" Zival asked loudly, holding the railing and leaning his head on the wood to look underwater.

But no one answered his words.

No one on the boat had expected that Leon would dare to jump in and fight with the monster in the water. This was simply courting death.

Denzel was gasping for breath. He was pulled up by Gammill and the others and he was still in shock.

"Monster! It's a monster! Have you seen it? What does it look like?" Stan waited until the boat stopped shaking, then he returned to the fence and asked loudly.

He was afraid that the boat would be capsized by the monster again, so he held on to the railing tightly.

"Drive the boat! Drive the boat!" Some passengers were still in shock and immediately shouted to the captain after realizing the danger.

"Wait! Wait a minute! The witcher is still underwater!" Ganmire shouted.

But it was obvious that no one, including the captain, listened to him.

Whether the demon hunter lives or dies has nothing to do with them, but if they don’t leave now, those monsters will attack them again and they will be in danger.

Even the woman whose man had just died, after waking up, was filled with nothing but sadness and fear.

"Hurry up! The witcher is dead!" someone shouted at the top of his lungs. They happened to be by the boat and witnessed everything.

The monster stretched out two giant green claws like a mantis and pulled the businessman down.

Soon, bright red blood floated up, the merchant died, and the monster disappeared.

The monster must be somewhere under the water now, gnawing on the merchant's body.

They were scared to death just thinking about it, but they were on a boat and couldn't go anywhere. They could only urge the captain to row faster.

"What should we do? We need help!" Zival shouted behind him.

No one cares about him.

We are on the boat. The water below is more than ten meters deep, and there are countless monsters lurking in the water. Who dares to go down?

"Horff, bring me my pipe. It's under my pillow!" Zival suddenly shouted as if he had thought of something.

His younger brother Holf understood immediately and ran back to his room.

Zivar stared at the water, while Ganmil took his men to stop the captain from sailing.

Gradually, red bloodstains suddenly emerged on the rolling water surface and were washed away by the surging water.

"Here I come!" At this time, Horv ran over holding a rectangular wooden box.

"Alas, it's too late. This demon hunter is finished." Zival sighed and shook his head. "I have a good impression of him."

Holf remained silent and held the wooden box to his chest.

"Wait! The monster is coming out!" He suddenly pointed at the water and hurriedly opened the wooden box.

"Wait! You idiot, this is not a monster! Hahaha! Kazila, throw the rope quickly and pull the witcher up!" Zival held down the open wooden box and shouted at the half-orc who was closest to the rope.

His loud voice attracted the attention of others, and people were surprised.

The demon hunter is not dead yet?

In that case, we can't set sail immediately. It would be understandable if the other party was dead or had not appeared yet, but it is definitely not possible now.

What's more, they saw that the half-elf Ganmir had drawn his knight's sword and was ready to fight to the death.

"Hu! Ha! Hu! Ha!" Leon finally swam out of the water when his lungs were about to explode.

He breathed in the moist air greedily, letting it fill his lungs. He had never felt that the smell of earth was so fresh and charming.

Just then, a rope hit him in the face, causing him to turn his head to find his way.

"Hold him, Leon! Hold him!" Zival shouted in a loud voice.

Leon quickly grabbed the rope, and with the combined efforts of the dwarves, he was dragged towards the boat.

"Haha, I knew you wouldn't die so easily!" Zival laughed loudly.

Leon smiled bitterly. If he hadn't seized the initiative and accidentally stabbed the dagger into the opponent's soft part.

He might be in danger now, as the water is not his main battlefield.

Demon hunters can conquer monsters on the mainland, but they cannot conquer those in the water.

He grabbed the rope and was pulled upwards.

However, the next moment, severe pain came from his left ankle. At that moment, he even felt that his ankle was broken.

"Damn it! There's another one! What the hell is this!" Zival exclaimed, "Horf! Horf!"

Lyon had clearly been pulled to the surface, but suddenly the water below exploded and a pair of claws emerged from it.

Leon's body hit the boat and deviated a little, which prevented him from being caught by the claws, but his left foot was bitten by a pair of sickle-like pincers.

At this moment, people saw the ugly face of the monster clearly.

The flat body is covered with large, dark green scales that look like armor.

It had four pairs of sickle-like claws, one pair of which bit Leon's ankles. Its fan-shaped and powerful tail swung, stirring up large splashes of water, trying to pull Leon back into the water.

"It's Everetia Pitti! It's Everetia Pitti! I thought they were extinct!" Stan screamed, his voice full of surprise.

However, no one cared about him.

The half-elves of the Iron Forest drew their bows and shot arrows at the monster.

But the arrow was bounced off by the thick scales and could not cause any damage to the monster.

"Don't hurt it! It's an endangered species and has been gone for over a hundred years!" Stan hurried forward to stop it.

But he was slapped to the ground by a half-elf.

"The demon hunter is going to die!" the half-elf said coldly, and began to aim his arrows at the monster's eyes.

But it was impossible to aim, even though the distance was very close.

Because while being rescued, the witcher was not doing nothing. His other free leg was kicking the monster's eyes hard.

“Hold still!” the half-elf archer yelled. “I can’t aim at it!”

boom--

At this moment, something like an extended pipe appeared in Holf's hand. A ball of flame burst out from the end, and then a cloud of gray smoke spurted out of the pipe.

Then something pierced through the thick scales on the monster's forehead and hit its head.

Almost instantly, Leon felt the clamp around his ankle loosen, and he was successfully pulled onto the boat.

He lay on the deck, gasping for breath, letting the rain pour down on him.

"What is that?" Leon turned his head and saw Horv hurriedly put the thing that had just saved him into the wooden box and closed the lid.

"We call it a pipe. It's a weapon invented by the people of Bovis. What do you think of it?" Zivar stepped forward and helped Lyon up.

"Fortunately, I'm fine." Leon answered, but his eyes remained on the wooden box.
