The Witcher: Darkness Falls

Chapter 37: Trouble on Board

"She's my friend, Camilla. Why can't she get on board?"

At the dock, three dwarves and their hammers stood at the boarding gate. In front of them, the captain led two sturdy boatmen, pointing pitchforks at the dwarves.

There was no one around them except some members of the Iron Forest Mercenaries.

The other passengers who had already boarded the ship stood on the deck and looked over here, while those who had not yet boarded the ship hid far away and watched from a distance.

"Friend? That's a monster! Shorty, take your monster away from my ship! Get out! I can't let it on board!" The captain of the ship said with a frightened look on his face, staring at the knocking monster behind the dwarf.

He pushed the boatman with both hands, protected himself behind him, stepped on the springboard, and rose and fell with the waves.

The two boatmen were also very nervous. Although they could easily deal with ordinary people, this was their first time dealing with a monster.

Especially Camilla's huge body and ugly face made them even more frightened.

"You are discriminating! This is blatant racial discrimination. I'm going to sue you in Yamulak!" a dwarf with a reddish-brown mess of hair shouted angrily.

However, the captain didn't care at all and said, "Go ahead, even to Nilfgaard. Your monster won't even be able to get close to the city gates, it will be shot to death by arrows!"

"I'm not a monster! My name is Camilla!" Finally, the knocking monster behind the dwarves said in a dull voice.

The captain looked at Camilla in surprise and found that this monster could actually speak!

"See? It can understand us. I warn you to be careful! Nilfgaardian law clearly stipulates that non-human races must not be discriminated against. You are openly discriminating!" The dwarf said proudly, "Let us go up!"

"No! I have never seen such a race. What is it? Is it a cross between a dwarf and a bear? Don't think I don't know. I have been traveling around for more than 20 years and I have seen talking monsters! Don't try to fool me!" The captain hesitated for a moment and insisted on not letting them get on board.

The two sides were in a stalemate, neither giving in.

The passengers on the shore were already a little annoyed, but because of Camilla's appearance, they did not dare to step forward.

Suddenly, a middle-aged man dressed like a scholar walked out of the crowd. The man was wearing a pair of round black-framed glasses.

The man stepped forward and said, “Your Excellency should let them go up. Imperial law stipulates that humans cannot discriminate against non-human races, otherwise they will be imprisoned.

Although this friend is not good-looking and is not of human race, he is obviously not a monster either."

Seeing someone stand up and speak for them, the dwarf immediately expressed his gratitude: "Thank you very much!"

The captain stared at the gentleman in front of him with vigilance, and immediately wanted to ask: "Who are you? How can you say it's not a monster?"

The man smiled and said, “Let me introduce myself. My name is Stan Bliss. I am a scholar from Imperial College and a biologist.

Now you can trust me, right? I am very knowledgeable about the creatures in the empire, and I can guarantee that there are no such monsters. I can even say that monsters are extinct in this world now, except for water ghosts contaminated by magic. "

The captain stared at the man in front of him, hesitated for a while, still unwilling to let Camilla get on board, but his tone was not as tough anymore.

"No, it doesn't look normal. Even if you are a scholar from the Imperial Academy, can you guarantee that it can stay quietly until you get off the ship?

If something happens, will you be responsible?"

After the captain asked this question, Stan was speechless.

He was just interested in Camilla and wanted to research what species it was along the way.

But he couldn't guarantee such a thing, and Camilla did look strange.

"I promise!" the dwarf patted his chest and vowed.

"Huh? You! You are in the same group!" The captain did not trust the dwarfs.

"I promise." Just then, a voice came from behind the captain.

"Who are you and why...hiss~" Hearing someone talking behind him, the captain turned his head immediately. Just as he was about to say something, he saw a pair of venomous snake-like pupils staring at him. He was so scared that he almost fell off the deck.

"I am a demon hunter. How about using the sword in my hand?" Leon said calmly.

He had just helped Denzel load the goods onto the ship and stacked them, but when he walked out to get some fresh air, he saw the scene in front of him.

At this moment, the captain of the Iron Forest, Ganmir, the deputy captain, Kazira, and three other half-elves also came out.

"I can guarantee that too!" said Captain Gan Mier. His tall stature gave people a strong sense of oppression and security.

"What's going on? I remember I have already paid you, right?" Denzel also came out, and when he saw the dwarf and the knocker being stopped, he immediately said angrily.

"You didn't say there was a monster!" The captain calmed down and said to Denzel. Then he turned his gaze to Leon and said, "But if there is a demon hunter and this knight... you guys should be responsible to the end, right?"

Leon nodded and Gammill hummed.

The captain's expression eased a lot. He pulled the two boatmen back and warned them, "It can only stay with the horse, and you, the dwarf, must stay beside it! Do you understand?"

"I sleep next to it!" the dwarf said with a sneer, and then immediately called Camilla onto the boat.

When passing by Leon, the dwarf stopped, looked at the witcher and said, "Thank you!"

"You're welcome." Leon nodded slightly.

These three dwarves are brothers, and they are very rare triplets.

Their appearances, voices, and even temperaments are very similar. If it weren't for the different weapons they carry, no one would be able to tell who is who.

The eldest is Zival Vivaldi, the second is Holf Vivaldi, and the third is Lux Vivaldi.

Zival carried a traditional dwarven giant axe, Horf held a heavy iron stick, and the third brother Lux carried two dwarven heavy swords.

All three of them were wearing leather armor and ox-horned hats, and the colors of the ox-horned hats were also slightly different.

Zivar's is dark red, Horf's is dark green, and Lux's is dark brown.

The one who just argued was their leader Zivar, and the one who thanked Lyon was also Zivar.

The three men supported the luggage on Jekara's back and slowly walked onto the boat, and then unloaded the luggage together.

"Thank you." Ganmier said to Leon, his tone not so stiff anymore.

Leon helped his friend, which made him feel much better about Leon.

"It's nothing. After all, we are together, and its emotions seem to be quite stable. I'm curious about how you tamed it?" Leon turned his head and looked at the knocking monster lying on the ground and asked.

Gammiel said, "No, we didn't tame it. It grew up with Zival and is our friend."

"I see." Leon understood. It seems that the knocking monsters in Mahakam are quite different from the wild ones.

"Excuse me for a moment, I'll go and help." Ganmier said, and then he left to help you unload your luggage.

Leon turned around and came to the side of the overtime. He didn't have any luggage except a horse, just some clothes and a shoulder bag.

He leaned his hands on the wooden fence, looked at the wide river, and waited for the boat to set sail.

"Hello, you're a witcher, right? Would you mind talking to me?" Stein, who claimed to be a scholar and biologist at the Imperial College, came over to him.
