The Witcher: Darkness Falls

Chapter 21 Lifting the Curse

Leon was a little surprised to see these two people in the Earl's castle.

Camaro was still dressed the same as he was in the tavern the day before, in a black robe, with a golden cross hanging on his chest and a humble smile on his face.

If there was any difference, it was that he had a brown, two-centimeter-thick book in his hand.

And Carl stood beside him like a servant, with a respectful and pious expression.

"Then the holy water should be working." Leon thought to himself.

As he entered, the lord beckoned him to sit down near Stregobor.

"Hello, Mr. Demon Hunter, we meet again." Camaro asked with a smile.

Leon nodded.

"Do you know each other?" The Count looked at Leon.

"We had a drink together the day before yesterday." Leon said.

Camaro nodded and said, "Yes, that's right. We had a great conversation."

Leon ignored him.

Stregobu's nose twitched slightly, and he tilted his head to look at Leon and asked, "Are you boiling medicine in my room?"

Leon nodded and said, "Very successful."

Stregobor immediately complained: "Damn it, can't you take the crucible out? The castle is so big, that room is uninhabitable now."

Leon said: "Sorry, I will pay more attention next time."

The Count's voice interrupted the conversation between the two: "Monster Hunter, I heard that you have found the monster that attacked the mine? Or is it a werewolf?"

Leon nodded and said, “Yes, but I’m not sure if it’s the only one, so…”

The Count interrupted him with a wave of his hand and asked impatiently: "You didn't kill it, did you?"

Leon nodded and said, “No.”

The count stopped talking, scratching his head, looking very annoyed.

"How could there be werewolves in my territory? Shouldn't those guys be hiding in the mountains and living with beasts?" he said irritably.

“No, werewolves are no different from ordinary people under normal circumstances. Only when the werewolf gene is activated will they turn into monsters.” Leon explained.

"Then how did they come into being? My territory has been peaceful for decades, and suddenly werewolves appeared, and my dear daughter became like this again!" the count roared.

No one could answer his question and could only watch the Count go crazy.

After a long time, the Earl calmed down again. He took a sip of liquor and said, "What are you going to do? Do you need me to send troops to help you?"

The Count stared at Leon.

Leon shook his head and said, "That's not necessary. I have already made sword oil to deal with werewolves. I plan to go look for it tonight to see if I can get rid of it."

"Don't be in a hurry. Let's solve my daughter's problem first." said the Earl.

Leon looked at Stregobor in confusion. Wasn’t the full moon night the day after tomorrow?

Stregobor said nothing, but just stared at Camaro in silence.

Leon looked at Camaro. Is it related to him?

He thought of the so-called holy water, and then his eyes fell on Carl next to Camaro.

Judging from the respect Carl showed to Camaro, the holy water must have worked and saved his mother.

Could it be that this holy water could also help the Earl's daughter remove the curse?

Sure enough, the Count pointed at Camaro and said, “Since you two know each other, I won’t introduce you.

Missionary Camaro said his holy water could remove all curses, and Carl personally admitted that it was effective. I went to see his mother yesterday, and she was full of energy and didn't look like a woman in her fifties at all.

I'm going to let them try it first."

Leon looked at Stregobor.

When it comes to removing the curse, Stregobor is more professional.

Yet Stregobor remained silent, and Leon took it as his permission.

Leon looked at the Earl and asked, "So...what did you ask me to do?"

The Earl said, “If my daughter goes crazy later, I hope you can control her, but of course, don’t let her get hurt.

You are the only one here who has this power, so I asked you to come and help."

Leon understood that he was being asked to help.

Lyon nodded, indicating that it was not a big problem.

The Earl stood up, patted his butt and said, “Then let’s go now, let me see the power of the True God Church.

If you can really lift my daughter's curse, I will rent you a piece of land outside the city for free for ten years. As long as you don't rebel, I don't care what you want to do."

Lyon seemed to have heard some extraordinary news from the earl's words.

If you lift Sislia's curse, you can get the right to use a piece of land for ten years for free!

Why didn't he?

And the other party was bargaining with me for five thousand florins!

The count coughed to cover up his embarrassment and walked out first.

"Please!" Camaro invited Leon to go with him.

Leon shook his head and said, “You guys go ahead, I’ll help the old man, it might be a little slow.”

The corner of Stregobor's mouth twitched, but he still cooperated and stood up tremblingly.

"Okay, then I won't be polite." Camaro stepped forward, half a body length behind the Earl, and Carl followed closely behind.

Leon supported Stregobor and walked slowly behind.

"What's going on?" Leon asked, "Is Camaro also a wizard?"

Stregobor whispered, "No, I sense no magic in him.

But the book in his hand gave me a very strange feeling, it didn’t seem like a magic prop.”

“My Demon Hunter medal didn’t react either, but that day he took out a small bottle of holy water and the medal trembled. It might be a magic potion,” Leon whispered.

Stregobor glanced at Camaro's back and said, "Magic potions can't remove the curse. Let's go and watch."

The two of them quickened their pace.

Soon, they came to a garden at the northernmost part of the castle, where there was a twenty-meter-high tower.

Leon took a look and saw that this tall tower should be a large observation tower, from which one could see very far away.

Sislia was actually hidden here by the Count.

"Open the door!" ordered the Count.

The two soldiers guarding the tower immediately opened the iron door locked with iron chains.

The Earl led the way and walked into the tower with his men.

The tower is very wide inside and gradually narrows as it goes upwards.

A row of one-meter-wide stone slabs are embedded in the inner wall of the tower, extending upward in a spiral.

They walked up the stone slab and finally entered the upper compartment.

The Count took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

"Sislia, I'm here to see you." the count shouted.

Then, regardless of whether the other party answered or not, he took out a silver key and opened the lock on the iron door.

As soon as the door opened, a foul odor of feces and urine mixed with rotting matter hit Carl in the face, almost making him faint.

"You go down first." Camaro said.

“Sir, I…” Carl pinched his nose and wanted to stay.

Camaro shook his head, and the other party had to walk down slowly holding the wall.

The Earl frowned and said, "No one dared to come in to clean three months ago. The servants just stuffed the food through this hole and left in a hurry."

He kicked the hole under the iron door and said.

The Count walked in with a frown on his face, saying, "She is locked up. Don't be afraid."

Everyone walked in and immediately saw what was going on inside the house.

It's a mess.

There were urine stains all over the wooden floor, one of which was fresh.

The dressing table was shattered to the ground, and fragments of the mirror could still be vaguely seen in the ruins.

On the other side was a large bed, but the legs were broken.

There was a mass lying on the bed, with six iron chains, each two fingers thick, extending from it and riveted into the stone wall.

"It's over there," said the Count grimly.
