The Witcher: Darkness Falls
Chapter 136: Soldiers of Tegamo
The next morning, Leon took the two women and headed towards the town of Tegamo.
Without a mount, it would probably take two days to walk there.
However, this place is not too far from Niujiao Village and can be reached in half a day.
They walked for about half an hour before Leon leaned over and put his ear to the ground.
"Master, are there any monsters?" Lisa asked cautiously.
Sophia nervously grabbed Lisa's arm, and the two of them leaned on each other, feeling very nervous.
Leon stood up and said, “Don’t worry, it’s not a monster, I heard the sound of horse hooves, someone is riding a horse coming from the front.
However, I am not sure whether I am here to rescue your soldiers, so please follow me and hide for a while."
Leon took the two of them and hid behind a big tree, waiting quietly.
Ten minutes later, several soldiers on horseback galloped past them.
"Mark! I'm here Mark!" Sophia rushed out excitedly, shouting loudly.
"Uh-huh!!!"
The soldiers immediately reined in their horses and stopped.
Leon walked out from behind the tree with Lisa, and saw a man dressed as a farmer jumped off his horse in the team and hugged Sovia excitedly.
"Oh! Honey, I... I'm so glad! I'm so glad that you're okay. I went to Tegamo overnight to invite these officials. Really..." Mark was so excited that he spoke incoherently, his face full of excitement and joy.
"I'm fine! It was this witcher master who saved me!" Sophia said, wiping her tears.
Mark looked over and was shocked by Leon’s appearance, but he still walked up carefully to thank him.
"Thank you, thank you so much, Master Demon Hunter!" Mark walked forward to thank him.
"It's okay." Leon said, looking past Mark at the soldiers riding horses behind him.
"We haven't seen any demon hunters here for a long time. It's really rare. Where are the monsters?" A man who looked like the captain of this team rode up and asked condescendingly.
Leon replied: "We killed some of them, and the rest escaped."
Leon took a look at these soldiers, five of them in total, and except for the captain, the others were not wearing complete protective gear.
The captain's equipment was also light armor, which was far inferior to the fully armed soldiers of Nilfgaard.
This group of people gave people the feeling that they were a bunch of scoundrels who picked up some ill-fitting armor and put it on at random. They didn't look like professional soldiers.
"Why didn't you kill them all?" a young soldier said dissatisfiedly.
"There are quite a lot of them, about forty or fifty of them, and I'm just one person, and I have to make sure the two of them don't get hurt." Leon explained.
"Clearly..." The soldier wanted to speak again but was immediately stopped by the captain.
"Shut up, Carl!" The captain turned around and glared at him, warning, "I'm telling you one last time, without my permission, shut your mouth, just like clamping your leather swallow when riding a horse! Otherwise, go home! Do you hear me?"
"Yes, Captain!" Carl's face flushed.
The captain turned around and introduced himself: "My name is Galio Rossi, just call me Galio, I am one of the captains of the security team in Tegamo.
Demon Hunter, where is the monster you killed?"
Leon pointed to the road ahead and said, "Over there, not far from here. You can see their bodies if you ride over there."
Galio nodded, turned around and shouted to the soldier behind him: "Clark, take Carl to pick up the monster's body, hurry up!"
A middle-aged soldier shook his head and rode away on his horse without saying a word towards the place where Lyon fought last night.
Carl followed immediately.
Only after seeing the two men riding away did Galio look at Leon again.
He looked at Leon and asked, "Demon Hunter, are you here to hunt for monsters?"
Leon shook his head and said, "If it was in the past, it was true, but not this time. I had something to do in Toussaint and happened to pass by here."
Galio stroked his chin and said noncommittally: "Walk on your feet?"
"No, I came from Nilfgaard. Something unexpected happened and my horse was lost, along with my silver sword." Leon said helplessly.
He could have ridden Graf all the way to Tegamo and bought a horse there.
But when he encountered goblins holding humans hostage, he could have chosen to ignore it, but his professional habit forced him to take action.
Graf left. After all, such a big gray wolf could easily scare people, especially at night.
Now, he can only walk on his feet.
Leon quite liked the horse. It was not easily frightened, strong enough and had good endurance.
Such a horse probably could not be bought in Tegamo, and he could tell from Galio's horse.
Tegamo's horse looked thin and weak, and was no match for the warhorse that Count Berne had given him.
"That's really unfortunate!" Galio nodded and didn't ask any further questions.
"Captain! Look at this! It's disgusting!" Soon, two soldiers came back on horseback.
Each of their horses was carrying a relatively intact goblin corpse, and both had expressions of disgust on their faces.
Galio rode over and looked at the goblin corpse on Clark's horse, his brows gradually twisted into a rope.
He covered his nose with his hand and frowned, "Are you sure this isn't a dwarf? It stinks. Is there some infectious disease? Or is it poisonous?"
When he said this, Clark and Carl immediately panicked and pushed the goblin's body off their horses.
"Calm down!" Galio shouted. "This is disgraceful!"
"Their bodies are not poisonous. Just be careful not to get bitten by their teeth." Leon said, "These are not dwarves, they are goblins. They just look very similar to dwarves. You should have received documents from Nilfgaard again, right?"
Galio looked at Leon suspiciously and asked, "Do you know something? Also, where did you say you were from? Nilfgaard?"
"Yes, if you want to listen..." Lyon said, spreading his hands.
"Wait a minute! You two take these two bodies... Wait, are there only two?" Galio interrupted Leon and turned to ask.
Clark hesitated and said, "There are many, almost ten, but only these two are relatively intact..."
"Okay, that's enough. Take these two bodies, witcher, get on your horse and come with me. We need you!" Galio said impatiently.
But Clark and Carl were slow to act. Although Leon said the two bodies were not poisonous, they still did not dare to touch them.
Seeing that Galio was about to get angry, Leon stopped him: "Okay, give me a horse and I'll do it."
Galio glared at Carl, and Lal dismounted reluctantly. He handed the reins to Leon and warned him, "It's very strong, be careful not to break your bottom!"
"Thank you." Leon took the reins and easily calmed the horse.
Then he tied the two goblin corpses to the sides of the horse, jumped on the horse with a beautiful turn and said, "Okay, lead the way!"
