Los Angeles has shown signs of warming up in mid-February. Although there is a big temperature difference between morning and evening, you can still feel the warmth under the sun.

Of course, all this has little to do with Joshua Douglas, who has been enjoying himself in the manor all year round - at nearly 80 years old, he has truly realized the fact that he is an old man.

"Dear Martin, maybe you don't know that I just finished talking to Noah five minutes ago." Joshua took off his glasses and twisted his nose in distress. "It sounds like he has already made up his mind about the candidates, but - to be honest, this year's Olympic Prize competition is too exciting, isn't it? It's almost hard to make a decision."

"Old man, it sounds like you are worried about who to vote for?" Martin Kubrick paused on the other end of the phone. "Tell me, is your choice Joanna de Havilland or Nicole?"

Joshua chuckled and asked, "What about you? My dear old friend, do you want to canvass for votes for that Asian girl?"

The former was cold and even included the full name, while the latter was only left with the intimate name. It was obvious at a glance which candidate the other party favored.

"Well, Joshua, you are still as sharp as ever." Martin Kubrick smiled and admitted frankly: "I think Nicole's acting talent is obvious to everyone. To be fair, her performance is completely worthy of this little golden man."

Joshua Douglas caught a hint of appreciation in his tone and couldn't help but be a little surprised: "I remember Anita Brown should have been nominated for an Oscar. How come Robert Bob didn't call you?"

"To be honest, Nicole's performance is excellent, but she is not American after all, let alone Jewish, I think - you know what I mean?"

Joshua was born into a family of performing arts. His father, Jonathan Douglas, was a famous tough guy superstar in the 50s. He founded his own production company in the early 60s, won the Oscar Lifetime Achievement Award, and was ranked 17th among the "Greatest Actor of the Century" by the American Film Institute.

It can be said that Joshua Douglas's success as a director was so smooth partly due to his father's fame and also because both father and son are Jewish.

Whether it is him or Martin Kubrick, their own extraordinary talents are certainly important, but their Jewish ancestry is the important cornerstone of their success.

So, when faced with the voting decision, Joshua's first reaction was to consider the issue from the perspective of the Jews.

He had seen Freedom Road, and he knew that Nicole Sue's acting skills were definitely at the top level among the five candidates, but - she was just a foreigner after all, young and inexperienced. Was it necessary to give her the Oscar when she was nominated for the first time?

"Bob? Maybe, but I think he's too busy to contact me," Martin Kubrick said sarcastically. "He's trying very hard to get Brown the Best Actress nomination, which is not an easy task."

Joshua speculated that the relationship between him and Robert Bob was strained because of the mediocre response to "The Island".

But this is not surprising, Martin's character has always been like this, with an almost stubborn persistence and awe for the art of film - Bob forced Brown on him to be the heroine, but in the end the performance "ruined" his work of art, it would be strange if he didn't hold a grudge.

Even though Joshua looked at it with the tolerance of an elder, he had to admit that Anita Brown's performance in the film "The Island" was really mediocre.

If we only talk about the works, among the five candidates, perhaps only Nicole and Joanna can compete.

In fact, before the scandal broke, Joshua had intended to vote for Joanna de Havilland as number one.

This is not because he thinks her acting skills are better than Nicole's, but a decision made after comprehensively considering the performance of both of them in all aspects - after all, Joanna's qualifications are there, and Nicole's acting skills are not good enough for him to ignore the gap in qualifications between the two.

But now, Joanna is destined to become a discarded pawn.

"By the way, you should have received a call from David LeBlanc, right?" Martin cleared his throat and got back on track. "Don't tell me you don't know - he is also Jewish, and is actively working on Nicole's Oscars this year."

Joshua felt a little headache when he mentioned this name: "Of course he called. In fact, he called more than once."

Martin laughed insincerely on the other end of the phone. "You should have gotten used to it, old man. Those paid PR guys always behave this way."

"Thank God, I hope he can stay quiet these days - OK, Martin, I think I understand what you mean, I will think about it carefully."

"No problem. I remember the press release said you would attend the premiere of Washington Square. See you next month."

After hanging up the phone, Joshua sighed imperceptibly.

Martin's attitude was very easygoing and not urgent. It seemed that he was just helping to make phone calls and canvass for votes as a friend, and he probably didn't have much interest tied to Nicole.

But he mentioned David LeBron...

Joshua rubbed his forehead gently, his expression becoming more solemn: If Nicole had not boarded David LeBlanc's ship, he would have voted for Anita without hesitation even if Joanna was out - although Anita herself was not Jewish, her interests were the same as Robert Bob's when it came to the Oscars, and helping her would be like helping his own people.

This spirit of unity is the foundation for Jewish people to gain a foothold in Hollywood and in the United States.

Hollywood places great value on personal connections. Joshua was able to succeed his father and become a great director thanks to the Jewish tradition of sticking together, so it is natural for him to want to continue this tradition.

But now Nicole and Anita each have a Jewish backer, and David LeBlanc is related to the Fink family - Larry Fink founded the BlackRock Group, known as the "Godfather of Wall Street" with amazing assets.

The fact that LeBron can establish a relationship with him shows that his influence in the United States is far greater than that of a small agent like Robert Bob.

Faced with this "internal struggle", Joshua will of course follow his biological instinct and choose the one with more powerful energy - if he can use this incident to show his goodwill to David LeBron and establish friendship, it will be beneficial to him in every way.

Although he is already very old, he still has to pave the way for his children.

After figuring out the twists and turns, Joshua was no longer as indecisive as before, and picked up the envelope from the desk...
