Mysteries: Arcana Wars

Chapter 337 Efforts in vain

Angel's investigation involved all aspects, but some things were delayed due to lack of knowledge.

At first, the Sivellas Field also investigated him, but the investigation was rather perfunctory. According to them, no matter the surveillance records or traces of citizens' activities, it was difficult to speculate where his daughter Cecilia had gone. They could only judge that Cecilia walked into this room by herself.

This conclusion seems to have huge loopholes.

What was in Cecilia's phone? Why couldn't she find a hacker to crack it? Why did she have to wear yellow and green clothes? Why were there strange scratches at the scene? Did she come into contact with other strange people?

How could a person disappear out of thin air?

Angel even asked to see all the trace data of Cecilia in the citizen system, as well as all the evidence found, and check them himself, but they were all rejected by Sivellas on the grounds of respecting and protecting the privacy of citizens and not complying with relevant regulations.

In response to Angel's various questions, Sivella said that his technology was limited and he was powerless.

As time went by, even the subsequent progress was refused to be informed to Angell, until the detectives in charge of the case could no longer tolerate Angell's harassment. When the time came, they immediately closed the case and blocked all contact information of Angell.

"Sir, are you trying to drive me to death?" The detective was inconsolable. "So many people go missing in Backlund every week. Why should we put all our energy and sleeplessly look for your daughter? Why should we put aside the time for other cases to play with you? Only your daughter is a human being, but other people's daughters are not human beings?

"How valuable is your daughter? Is she valuable enough to warrant the theft of millions of dollars? Is she valuable enough to warrant the murder of the president of a consortium? Is she valuable enough to warrant the massacre carried out by a cult in Backlund?

"It's just a disappearance. There is no previous case or subsequent case. It's just a simple, ordinary disappearance. Anything could be possible. You can only blame yourself for your bad luck.

"I'm sure I can't find him again, but he's a poor student who's neither good-looking nor smart. He's a burden anyway, so why not just have another one?"

Then Angle was arrested for assaulting a police officer, administratively detained for 15 days, and lost his job.

After being released, Angel was still unwilling to give up, so he went to the crime scene that day to watch it again.

The room where the crime happened was a warehouse, not an abandoned room. After the investigation period, the warehouse owner has the right to clean up the scene and reuse it. But unexpectedly, the warehouse owner kept the scene as it was and waited for Angel.

"I think you are not someone who gives up so easily. You will definitely come back to take a look alone." The warehouse owner said, "So I think you will definitely come back."

Angel was grateful for the warehouse owner's kindness. After conducting his first and last personal inspection, he helped the warehouse owner clean up the room.

During this investigation, Ingres took photos of all suspicious traces, including some ancient traces that looked like scratches left by large objects being moved, or scratches made by clumsy hands. The traces were scattered and isolated, and deformed by the passage of time.

The warehouse owner said that these were traces of the previous renovation workers, but since it was used as a warehouse, he did not pursue responsibility. There are also some traces of warehouse use, which is unavoidable. Later, these surface scratches were covered and modified during use so that they would not be too conspicuous.

These traces were too old, and the warehouse owner thought they had nothing to do with Cecilia, but Ingres still took pictures of them - what if they were really useful?

In addition to the photos, Ingres also swept up many powder samples at the scene, collecting everything he could find, whether it was dust or stains, and even bought some of the warehouse owner's goods as samples.

So, what next?

Who should I ask to analyze these samples? Who should I ask to trace the source of these goods? Who should I ask to hack into Cecilia's phone?

Ingres was just an ordinary office worker with no connections.

Do you want to explore deeper? Go to the legendary dungeon and look for help beyond the law?

The danger made Ingres hesitate, as his wife and seriously ill mother still needed him as the pillar of the family.

So Angle found another job to stabilize his family situation. After his mother's condition stabilized, he explored the dungeon several times. However, Angle did not know a reliable guide and did not dare to trust strange people. His dungeon exploration was not smooth and he could only wander around several shallow dungeons. In Angle's experience, these places were similar to enhanced slums and he could not dig up the resources he wanted.

With a heavy burden of life and not strong enough ability, Angel's investigation was progressing with great difficulty.

It wasn't until two months ago that Ingres's clumsy and persistent efforts finally paid off.

"hacker?"

Klein noticed something was wrong.

"A hacker contacted you and said he was willing to help you identify the sample?"

Angel nodded.

“To be precise, he is willing to act as an intermediary and introduce me to an appraiser of the dungeon, but the price is not cheap.

"I handed over the money and he completed the transaction and gave me the ingredient list for the sample."

"Did that... [Appraiser] tell you that there is powder of Illusionary Light Scale Giant Tailed Crocodile scales here?"

The [Appraiser] here is very likely a Beyonder of the Generalist Sequence. The mysterious power has always been around Angel, but he knows nothing about it.

While I was expressing my feelings, the waiter brought the meal.

The decoration style of this tavern reminded Klein of the wild Bayam in the Fifth Epoch. If it were paired with a glass of rum, it would be perfect for the occasion.

Klein thought about Angel's statement, took the cup and took a sip. He didn't expect the waiter to actually serve him the Fifth Epoch-style old-fashioned rum. When the liquor went down his throat, his mouth was filled with the taste of the sea breeze from Bayam in his memory.

"The rum in this store is pretty good." Klein said, "Go on, I'm listening."

"What rum? I didn't order it?" Angel was a little confused. "Didn't you just order sweet iced tea?"

Klein looked down and found that he was holding a glass of clear brown liquid with a slice of lemon in it. The glass was gone.

Take a sip, it's still sweet and refreshing sweet ice tea.

"…Nothing." He put down the cup. "Did your hacker come to you on his own, or did you go find him yourself?"

"He contacted me first."

"Do you remember his name?"

"remember."

Angel replied.

"He calls himself Kewawu."
