Chapter 192 Mechanical Dog

Klein suddenly woke up.

The dizziness and severe pain from a moment ago disappeared. A beam of warm sunlight swam through the quaint wooden window and hit his face.

This is a very old and simple house. It looks like it has just been renovated. Some traces of construction can still be seen in the clean corners.

Compared to the brightness and clarity brought by the large glass windows of the 14th century in the Sixth Era, this room was obviously much darker. The window on the right was the only source of light. The orange-yellow sunlight could not penetrate the room with a traditional layout and could only illuminate the flying dust beside the bed.

Wait... that's a brand new gas lamp hanging on the wall?!

Am I...back in the Fifth Epoch? ?

Klein stared at the wooden door in front of him in a daze. The chaotic and collapsed underground city seemed like a nightmare, and now he finally woke up.

He subconsciously wanted to reach out for his pocket watch to see if he was hallucinating again, but found that he could not move at all.

Oh my god, there’s no need to look at it, it’s probably another hallucination.

In this case, it is not a good thing if those annoying discomforts such as dizziness and headache disappear, because it means that all your perceptual abilities have been paralyzed and completely occupied by hallucinations.

Klein stood at the door for a while. He could feel that he had completely lost control of his body. He was forced to take a few deep breaths, then walked forward and gently knocked on the door.

He noticed that the hand he was holding out was a lady's.

"Please come in."

A clear male voice came from inside the door.

Klein pushed open the door and saw a very simple office inside. A man was sitting in the room reading a book.

This room had just been put into use and the brand new bookshelves had not yet been filled with heavy books. Even more books were still stored in boxes and stacked up like small hills on the floor.

In addition to boxes of books, the not-so-spacious office was also filled with various mechanical parts, some as delicate as living things, only the size of a palm; some as huge as square pillars, almost towering over the room. They made the entire room seem even more cramped, but without exception, these mechanical devices all looked weathered, most of them had varying degrees of damage, and even a large steam-driven device had a big hole in it, like a prey bitten open by a wild dog, with parts like internal organs spilling all over the floor.

The man sat calmly surrounded by books and broken machinery. The small coffee table with books and two sofa chairs were soft, simple and very dilapidated. Cotton was spilling out of the holes in the coarse cloth, but the man didn't care. He was concentrating on the book in his hand. He was about thirty years old, wearing a simple and neat traditional three-piece suit of the Fifth Epoch. He had a faint mustache on his handsome face, and his shoulder-length black hair was slightly curly and tied into a small braid at the back of his head.

A full-length mirror stood in the corner of the door. Klein glanced at the mirror uncontrollably.

The person in the mirror turned out to be Melissa.

This is Melissa, who is probably in her 30s or 40s. Her pretty face has long lost its childishness and has a mature and rational temperament. She has tied up her long black hair and put on a pair of dense windproof goggles on her head. Unlike the capable adventurer pants in the previous illusion, Melissa in this illusion wears a light yellow knee-length skirt and a tight vest, and still hangs large and small waist bags on her waist and vest.

It can be seen that Melissa must have dressed up carefully before the visit, but perhaps due to the needs of her daily work, she could not abandon practicality for the sake of appearance and become some kind of inconvenient vase. In the end, she chose a compromise with great difficulty. She used straps to hang up the short hem of the skirt in front and hung it on the vest to become a short skirt with rich pleats, revealing her capable trousers and boots.

Unlike the illusion Melissa whose eyes were dead black, the Melissa in the mirror still had lively brown eyes.

"Professor Shezel, I have figured out the idea you proposed last time."

The man was so shocked by these words that he almost jumped up. He quickly put away his books, braided his hair again, and then rubbed his trouser legs with his hands awkwardly. The sharp eyes that were concentrating just now suddenly dispersed. He didn't know where to look, and finally stared straight at Melissa, even looking a little dazed.

"Ah, ah, yes... Professor Moretti, long time no see, long time no see... Actually... Actually... I mean, considering our relationship, you can just call me Is... Ah! Please sit down! Let's talk slowly, slowly!"

...Professor Sheetzl...Iss...

Ish Shezil!

The person who was called a liar by Melissa in the illusion!!

"Then, correspondingly, you shouldn't call me Professor Moretti."

Melissa smiled, pulled out another broken chair and sat down.

"And we just met three days ago."

The two took two deep breaths during the strange pause.

"…So, Melissa, have you completed what I asked you to do last time?"

"Yes, look at this."

As she spoke, Melissa pulled out a few palm-sized mechanical... uh... mechanical puppies from her waist bag. After winding the springs, the mechanical puppies started hopping nimbly on the small coffee table.

"Wow, Melissa, you did an amazing job on this restoration! I'm so curious about what design you used to rebuild its structure!"

Is gently picked up a mechanical puppy, held it in his hands and exclaimed in admiration.

"Even the appearance has been restored to look like the original one! Melissa, you are really amazing. If it weren't for your restoration, I wouldn't even be able to tell that this pile of parts with only a skeleton and lever system left was actually a mechanical dog! You know, even the teachers who registered the teaching aids didn't notice this! They have always registered these remains as mechanical rabbits!"

“…Isn’t this a rabbit?” Melissa was stunned.

Is's fiddling hands froze.

"Wow, the bunny hop motion system you made is so smooth, especially when you look at this bunny hop, it really looks like a bunny..."

"Ahem," Melissa interrupted Is awkwardly and quickly changed the subject, "Let's first talk about how this teaching aid can be used in the course later..."

As they talked, they stopped all the mechanical rabbits on the table and removed a piece of metal shell one by one, revealing the precise gear systems with different structures. In just a few words, the two were completely immersed in academic discussions.

The two of them were completely immersed in it, and the awkwardness and embarrassment they had just felt disappeared completely. The originally awkward conversation became more and more fluent and faster, and gradually they came to Klein's blind spot in knowledge. They were not even satisfied with pointing fingers at the little mechanical rabbit, and they couldn't wait to dig out a blackboard with a missing corner from the pile of rubbish and put it on the ground. The two of them lay on the ground and wrote a blackboard full of formulas and diagrams that Klein couldn't understand with chalk. Finally, the two of them finally finished writing the lesson plan they had planned, and sat on the ground and breathed a sigh of relief.

"As expected, it has only been a short time since the 'Doomsday Disaster' passed. It is really too much of a stretch to rush to restore the normal teaching order of Backlund University of Technology." Is sighed.

"Really? I actually think it's too late. This is already the third year of the new era. We have to get ahead of the curve."

Melissa said firmly.

"With universities, this society has hope of starting over after the apocalypse."
