Mysteries: Arcana Wars

Chapter 11 Explanation

Open the door, close the door, lock it. The whole house is silent.

Leonard swallowed, his hands and feet itching from embarrassment and uneasiness, as if he was back in the time when he was forced to receive Megose.

While pouring water to drink as usual, he was thinking about how to explain this matter to Pales.

You never imagined it! The grandson you picked up randomly on the street, after working the night shift at the police station, became a Sequence 2 angel like you!

I won’t believe this!

"Sir, please raise your hands and turn around."

He heard the sound of bullets being loaded and cried out in his heart that something was wrong, but he could only raise his hands stiffly, turn around, and lean against the wall obediently.

Pales held a pistol with a calm expression. No emotion or information could be read from his face. He had quietly come behind Leonard without anyone noticing.

"Uh... old man, I think there's a misunderstanding between us, and I was just about to explain it to you..."

"Sir, I am not interested in who you are," Pales said in a very calm tone, neither sad nor happy. "The more I know, the more dangerous it is, so I don't want to know, and I have no intention of knowing any of your plans. As long as you don't target me, I won't interfere in anything you do."

"No, old man, I'm really Leonard--"

"You acted very much like him. Many of your little movements are very much like that kid, but your gestures are much more mature than that childish brat."

"Hundreds of years of maturity." Pales emphasized meaningfully, his face still expressionless.

Leonard was speechless and was interrupted by Pales just as he was about to explain. He couldn't help but regret why he forgot about it and subconsciously spoke so frankly in front of the old man. There was a huge difference between the gestures of this young man in his twenties and the immortal who was over a thousand years old. With the old man's thousands of years of experience and caution, he must have regarded himself as a villain who kidnapped children!

"Although I just picked up that useless little fellow on the street, I have raised this stupid rabbit for so many years after all. I am very familiar with it."

"So, sir, I beg you to return the little guy to me. I can assure you that as long as you return it to me, I will not ask you anything else."

"While I still have only a pistol pointed at you."

As he spoke, Pales fired a shot at the ground as if nothing had happened. The silver bullet burst out silently from the muzzle, and the vase strangely exploded into pieces of ceramic fragments in silence. The quiet murderous intent and silent threat slowly flowed in the dead silent house.

This series of sounds were all stolen by the veteran angels in the "Thief" sequence!

Pales's cold eyes seemed to be looking at a cemetery engraved with the name of Zoroaster.

"You don't want to know what happens after this box of bullets is fired."

Before Leonard could reply, three more shining silver bullets killed three glasses in silence. Leonard, relying on his angel-level physical fitness of the "Night" path, dodged the tricky silver bullets and hid behind the wall with his fangs and claws bared.

"Old man! Listen to my explanation!"

Should I listen to his explanation? Pales thought. But when the enemies dug out the hearts of the Zoroastrians one by one, and when Amon thousands of years ago devoured the extraordinary characteristics of the Zoroastrians one by one, did they hear the cries and pleas of those children? Did they give them a chance to explain?

In the extraordinary world, losers are never given a chance to explain.

Pales said nothing, but calmly loaded his pistol. He was still eight bullets away from officially starting the war of extraordinary abilities.

The sequence of the intruder is definitely not low. Pales initially estimated that the other party is at least sequence three, and even did not rule out the possibility of an angel-level invader.

Why didn't he use his extraordinary power to preemptively attack the enemy as soon as they met? Pales couldn't explain this feeling. It might be out of caution for the unknown. If the opponent was really an angel-level opponent, it would be difficult for him to rescue Leonard and escape together. It might also be out of love for this house. After all, he had lived in this house for more than a thousand years and didn't want it to explode again. Of course, maybe it was just because he looked too much like Leonard.

The same appearance, the same voice, even the same body reactions and ways of thinking, even the chaotic and unclear fates are exactly the same. This is indeed what makes Pales puzzled. This invader is full of contradictions. He is open and honest, exuding the aura of a high-ranking person. Hundreds of years have left marks on his spirit, but he inadvertently reveals the behavior pattern and classic Leonard reaction with Leonard's characteristics. The troublesome little bastard in his twenties and thirties and the old monster of thousands of years have been perfectly unified in this person.

But Pales didn't want to understand why, didn't want to know whether this was a pastime or a provocation, his purpose from beginning to end was only one.

"I'm Leonard Mitchell! I'm the orphan you picked up more than 20 years ago! You found my name on the note in the swaddling clothes!"

.

"Yes sir, you are right."

Pales fired another silent silver bullet at the corner of the wall, startling Leonard so much that he shuddered and jumped to move inside. Pales could hardly believe these words. Identity can be stolen, memory can be stolen, and even fate can be hard to trust in the extraordinary world. As an angel of the "thief" sequence, Pales was very familiar with these.

However, the opponent has not used his extraordinary abilities to fight back or protect himself since he entered the door. At most, he just relied on his enhanced physical strength to dodge, and always imitated Leonard's personality and tone to talk to him, which means that he has no intention of further attacking for the time being, and there is a certain amount of room for communication.

Are you stalling for time for some other purpose, or do you really just want to chat with me?

These troublesome thoughts brought back Pales' painful memories of his family. He fired two more shots into the corner in annoyance, but his face remained calm.

"Sir, you have five bullets left to hand over Leonard Mitchell."

"I am Leonard Mitchell! For some unspeakable reasons, I am now a Sequence 2 angel! From the 'Night' path! But my ability has been——"

Before Leonard could finish his shout, two more bullets hit the floor at his feet.

This initiative to confess his path and sequence surprised Pales. This might be the other party's way of expressing sincerity. Pales hesitated and lowered his gun. Considering the other party's behavior after entering the door, Pales was ready to give him a small opportunity to explain himself - maybe he really wanted to accept this "Leonard" from the bottom of his heart, Pales thought, of course, this might also be because he had no place to put his obsession with his family.

"Goddess!" Leonard finally breathed a sigh of relief when he found that there were no more gunshots or voices. "Finally, I can talk properly!"

Leonard stood up with the help of the wall, patted his clothes, and sighed.

"I am the Leonard you brought home and raised. Now the time has come to awaken the Leonard of Sequence 2 of the Night Pathway. I know this is a little hard to accept, but no matter how old I am, I am still the Leonard you know. There is only one person from the beginning to the end."

"Most of the people with the last name 'Mitchell' come from the orphanage of the Church of Night. You are an angel of the 'Night', and you went to such great lengths to find me." Pales said as he fired another shot at Leonard's feet. "It seems that you were sent by the 'Night' to monitor and control me?"

"No, no! A lot of things happened! Things that can't be discussed here!" Leonard was so anxious that he jumped up and down, "How on earth should I tell you!"

"Since you are an angel from the 'Night' path, then find a 'secret' place and tell me what I want." Pales looked at the pistol and decided to make the last move. "I have only one bullet left in my gun."

Leonard's face suddenly froze. Pales just looked up, then lowered his eyes and continued to load the last bullet expressionlessly. So Leonard took a few steps in confusion, then he made up his mind and gritted his teeth, actually squeezing out all his spiritual power and barely opening a dark crack.

"Then... old man... if you can... trust me... I, we... just come in and tell you, the hidden realm... I can't hold on for much longer... I will... tell you everything!"

Pales looked at Leonard's pale face in silence for a while, and finally when Leonard showed signs of losing control, he raised his hand and fired the last bullet at the ceiling. Then, a Pales clone that looked exactly like the original suddenly appeared behind Leonard and put his hand on Leonard's shoulder expressionlessly.

"I'll go with you."

When the clone and Leonard disappeared in the house, Pales turned around and made himself a pot of tea in the mess.

Suddenly the water flowing into the cup stagnated.

Pales put down the teapot with a serious face, slowly picked up the teacup and took a big sip of the failed brewed tea. The scalding hot tea spilled on his old hands due to the violent shaking of the tea set, but Pales didn't notice it at all.

He felt that he should hurry back to the living room, to the place where Leonard had just disappeared, and wait for Leonard to appear in front of him so that he could give him a big, full and powerful slap in the face.

Then Pales turned around and stepped on some broken vase pieces, falling heavily on the smooth marble floor.

Leonard you bastard!

Pales cursed fiercely in his heart.

If you drag me into such deep water again, I will run away from home!
