Mysteries: Arcana Wars

Chapter 107 The Incident (Part )

Bishop Wenceslas Cardin was neatly dressed in a gorgeous bishop's robe, with smooth white hair and beard groomed spotlessly. The tall and thin old man was standing upright on the podium, facing the altar. Under the light, his back was so solemn and sacred, and his hand slowly reached toward the altar to pick up the ceremonial staff...

...the long-handled wrench next to it.

Wenceslas Cardan is repairing the part of [Domino Mist] above the altar.

As the host of daily ceremonies and affairs, Wenceslas has mixed feelings about this old mechanical device that stretches throughout the auditorium.

On the one hand, the classical mechanical beauty of the machine when it is in operation is very shocking, and at the end, the crystal mist sprinkled above the altar also perfectly sets off the atmosphere of various ceremonies.

But on the other hand, as an extraordinary device, the key to activate the Domino Water Mist, the iron block [Cui Gol], would occasionally move around, tempting passers-by to stuff it into the hole to activate the mechanism, causing chaos, and everyone would have to spend a lot of time to shut it down.

For example, a few days ago, [Cui Gol] once again broke through containment and forced a hapless programmer passing by to activate the device, which had a good prank effect on himself while he was leading a prayer.

But Wenceslas had to take good care of this guy, because this antique [Domino Water Mist] was not only a part of the auditorium ceremony, but also a part of the armed system of St. Hillran Church.

Now the wrench in Wenceslas's hand became even heavier, because he saw in the prophecy that some bad guys had done something incredible again.

"...three...two...one..."

As soon as the bishop finished speaking, Scott appeared at the door of St. Hillran's Church pushing a wheelchair.

"What did you do?" Wenceslas turned around and asked.

"What else can I do? Of course my boss asked me to investigate the factory."

Scott pushed his wheelchair past quickly without even looking up, but suddenly an inspiration struck him, and the next second Wenceslas stood in front of him, jamming his wheelchair with a long wrench.

"You know what you did." Wenceslas was unmoved, "And I have told you many times that you should call Him His Highness Bonova."

"What the hell am I supposed to do? Old charlatan, if you don't have anything to do, get out of here. This is a big deal, I have to report to my boss!"

Without further ado, Wenceslas extended his other hand to Scott and then set up a spiritual wall around the two of them.

"Give me the stuff."

"What the hell? Are you going to help me report it? When did you become so kind?"

"I saw in the prophecy that you are going to the new hotel opened by the Ishdar Group." Wenceslas lost his patience with the Riddler after being worn out by Scott's face, and snorted coldly, "You are taking extraordinary items to that... that Brilliant Holiday Hotel, what do you want to do?"

This is the disadvantage of having an old colleague of the same level in the church, especially after three hundred years, other people of the same age who should have died have died long ago, leaving only this tough old troublemaker. Even a stranger with social phobia can know exactly how often he washes his socks after three hundred years of dealing with him.

Of course, Scott understood that this kind of thing was considered a characteristic old evil in the extraordinary organization. If it were in other extraordinary organizations, there would never be a companion who was tough enough to become an "old evil". There, companions must be a kind of inexpensive consumable. Before you can think of asking the other person's name, the heads of your companions number one, two, three, etc. are already rolling under your feet, and in the blink of an eye, your own head is also swaying on the ground with them.

After staring at Wenceslas for a few seconds, Scott admitted defeat, reluctantly took out a crumpled origami box from his pocket and stuffed it into Wenceslas's hand.

"Okay, you win." Scott muttered, "Damn prophet."

"Have you been to the Splendid Holiday Inn? Or are you planning to go?"

"I've been there before. I stopped by on my way back from the factory."

You have a wheelchair that can teleport, so you can go anywhere...

Wenceslas stared at Scott's wheelchair and complained to himself.

"It seems I am still a step late." Wenceslas sighed without opening the origami box. "What did you do?"

"I just want to teach Ishdar a lesson. Backlund is not a place they can mess around with."

Scott said nonchalantly, but his eyes wandered.

As soon as these words came out, Wenceslas's expression immediately became serious. He took a deep breath, gently placed the origami box on the stool, and opened it carefully.

Inside is a small high-rise model - Splendid Holiday Hotel!

It was now only as thick as two of Wenceslas' fingers, floating gently in the origami box. With his superhuman vision and spirituality, Wenceslas could clearly see that everyone in the hotel was sleeping in a slumber.

The people in the hotel were still alive, sleeping in the same dream. The Secret Peeping Path was not good at the dream realm, and Wenceslas could only feel their mental bodies extending outward through spirituality and prophecy, and then gathering together and connecting to a place in the distance.

A surge of anger rushed to his head, and Wenceslas was so angry that his hands were shaking. His eyes were wide open, and he couldn't even utter a single aggressive word. He just turned his head and stared at Scott.

"Don't worry, these people will be fine."

Scott even reached out and patted Wenceslas on the shoulder, trying to "comfort" his old colleague.

“[Dream Origami]—that’s what I call it anyway—can turn the scenes and buildings of an area into origami, and then put them into this box.

“If you want to release them, it’s very convenient. Just use your spiritual power to explore inside and find the people you want to release. They will wake up immediately and appear around you, and then the origami puppet representing them will explode into pieces of paper.

“Of course you don’t have to do anything. This thing is disposable. When the time is up, the things inside will automatically return to their original positions.

“For these replaced people, they thought they were still active in that hotel, but in fact their real bodies were sleeping in the cardboard boxes, and they were dreaming the same dream together. The dream was about this hotel, and their activities in the dream were projected onto those origami puppets.

“You can also understand it this way. For these people in the box, they are like controlling origami puppets in reality in a dream, but they themselves don’t know it.

"As you know, the Ishdar family just opened the Brilliant Holiday Hotel last month, and the advertisements are all over the streets. I don't know how much energy those disgusting Fenetbots have invested in this luxury hotel.

"In this way, during the period when the Brilliant Holiday Inn is replaced by Origami, if any important guest discovers the problem and is scared to death, and the entire hotel is in turmoil, then this Ishdar will have no chance of staying in Backlund's hotel and restaurant industry..."

"Scott Cartwright!"

Wenceslas roared. He rushed forward, grabbed Scott by the collar, and lifted Scott out of the wheelchair.

"You lunatic, do you know what you are doing?!"

"Then do you know what those Feynetbots did in Backlund?"

Scott also shouted at Wenceslas in dissatisfaction.

"What do you think I've been running around for all week? Traveling? If it weren't for those Feynetbots, I'd have half the shit on my plate!

"Do you know what factory I just went to? It was the cultivation factory of those Feynet guys! Or it was a flesh and blood factory built in collusion with the cult!

"What they 'planted' were not oil beans, but people! People! My high and mighty, pious and holy Bishop Cardin! They are right in our jurisdiction, right under our noses! Wouldn't you be angry when you heard this?

"They deserve it, they deserve to die! They didn't come to Backlund to do business, they just felt that they didn't get enough in Feynaport, so they came to Backlund to grab territory! Don't look at their small size now, that's because they haven't gained a firm foothold yet, and as 'outsiders' they haven't grown to a sufficient scale. These aggressive bastards in the guise of corporate capital should be strangled to death before they can develop!"

"That's not why you did this!"

Wenceslas threw Scott back into the wheelchair and cursed at the cardboard box beside him.

"I know and understand that you are the 'black glove' who does the dirty work. In the past three hundred years, you have taken the blame for the church and done the dirty work for the church. You have to hide your identity and cover up your status while carrying out the church's orders. I also understand that the nature of your duties is destined. When you hunt those ugly people, you will inevitably have to make various 'self-willed decisions' and 'flexible responses' that are inconsistent with the church's original plan.

"But look at what you did today! You acted on your own without reporting or getting approval, and especially used extraordinary items on the masses without permission, and these were extraordinary items that had never been reported!

"Are you carrying out God's will, or are you using God's name to vent your personal anger?

"Look at your hands, Director Scott Cartwright! I know you don't care about the great god of steam and machinery, so look at your own hands! See what the difference is between what you do and those ugly people you hunt!"

Wenceslas, who stayed in the church every day, finally cursed to his heart's content, as if he was bombarding Scott with all his dissatisfaction with him over the years and the resentment accumulated in the daily trivialities of the church.
