One Piece: Start as a mythical beast, practice to become stronger

Chapter 548: Under the calm surface, each hides their own calculations

In the spacious palace hall, crystal chandeliers hang from the towering ceiling and gorgeous carpets spread to every corner.

The kings of member states from all over the world, wearing their respective national costumes, gathered together in twos and threes, as if this banquet was just an opportunity for them to bond.

However, in this seemingly harmonious atmosphere, there is a clear division hidden.

On one side, most of the kings stood in the center of the palace, toasting their glasses and talking loudly, their words revealing their flattery and awe for the World Government in some subtle or obvious ways.

They talked about the magnificence of the holy land, the power of the government, and the need for a new Five Elders to take power.

"The new Five Elders are truly admirable," a king from the Central Kingdom said with emotion, "Their strength is enough to protect the safety of all of us."

"Indeed," another king in a golden robe echoed, "Although this change is sudden, the majesty of the World Government remains unshakable."

However, near a corner of the palace, a small group of kings seemed out of place.

The kings whispered to each other, and their tones were completely different from the mainstream atmosphere in the hall - suspicion, vigilance, and a hint of rebellion.

Although they were also wearing gorgeous dresses, the sharpness in their eyes was not concealed by the luxury of the banquet.

They stood close to the edge of the palace, as if intentionally keeping a distance from the group of kings who were enthusiastically praising the world government.

"Have you heard that General Jinan won a stunning victory on the battlefield of Elbaf?"

One of the kings said in a low voice.

He looked at his companions around him with sharp eyes, and there was a sense of pride in his tone.

"Of course I know." The other tall and thin king nodded with a hidden smile on his face. "I heard that those so-called Five Elders, and even Yimu's direct minions, were defeated by him."

As soon as these words were spoken, several people smiled at each other, and the atmosphere suddenly became a lot more relaxed.

Their conversation became lively, but they remained low-key.

"Jin'an is a very capable guy," an elderly king stroked his beard, "When I encountered a rebellion in my own country, he personally sent people to help me quell it. People like him are our real backers."

"Yes, although the World Government is strong, it only knows how to use oppression. Strong people like Jin An are worthy of our trust."

Their whispers gradually reached the ears of other circles.

Some loyal supporters of the World Government looked sideways upon hearing this, with a look of dissatisfaction and even hostility on their faces.

"Those people are too close to Jinan," a king standing in the center frowned and whispered, "Being too close to someone who may threaten the World Government will sooner or later be a disaster."

"Let them talk," the other king snorted. "The World Government will eventually liquidate these heretics. When that happens, we just need to stand on the side of the victor."

However, those kings who were close to Jinan did not care about this.

The trust and unity revealed in their conversations and laughter contrasted subtly with the indifference and alienation in the center of the palace, as if they were declaring their position in a silent way.

The conversations in the palace seemed insignificant, but they sowed the seeds of division in the undercurrent.

The name of Jinan became an invisible boundary, quietly dividing the relationship between these member states.

And just outside this chaotic palace, a storm is brewing, and Jinan's next plan will make everything even more out of control.

At the other end of the palace, the atmosphere was completely different from the social scene of the kings.

Gathered here are the kings of the underground world, some of them wearing luxurious clothes, some wearing low-key cloaks, but their temperaments reveal a sharp aura, which is incompatible with the luxury of the palace.

Morganse sat at a long, secluded table, shaking a glass of red wine carelessly in his hand.

His huge beak opened slightly and he chuckled:

"Boring. Extremely boring."

He glanced around casually, his eyes full of contempt for the people watching the ceremony.

"What else can the people here do except suck up to the World Government?"

His voice was not loud, but it was filled with disgust that was difficult to conceal.

He put the wine glass on the table with force, making a crisp sound, which attracted several pairs of eyes, but no one dared to say a word to him.

On the other side of the long table, Stussy, the Queen of Fun Street, was leaning lazily on the back of her chair.

She held her chin with one hand and turned a ring boredly with the other hand, her eyes wandering aimlessly around the palace.

"This palace is big enough, but the atmosphere is not interesting enough." She said softly, her tone floating like a wisp of smoke, but with a hint of sarcasm.

"How can they be interesting?" Morgans continued, with a hint of disdain in his tone, "They live under the shadow of the World Government all day long and dare not even tell the truth."

Stussy looked up at him, a smile on her lips: "You are the same, you obviously hate them, but you still have to come to the banquet obediently."

"Humph......"

Morganse snorted and did not respond.

At this moment, the words "Jin'an" were faintly heard from not far away.

The sound was not loud, but in this quiet corner, it was like a stone falling into a calm lake.

Morgans' originally lazy posture suddenly became straight, and his small but sharp eyes looked sharply towards the source of the sound.

Stussy slowly sat up straight, with a hint of interest in his eyes that was hard to conceal.

"Jin'an?" Morgans repeated in a low voice, with a meaningful smile on his face. "He has become the center of attention again."

"Why, a big news bird is so interested in him?" Stussy chuckled and teased, picking up a small dessert on the table with his fingertips.

"Wherever there is news, there is me." Morgans grinned, but the gleam in his eyes could not be concealed.

“Besides, this guy is not simple.

In the battle of Elbaf, he even killed all the Five Elders. How can this ability not be interesting?"

Stussy did not answer immediately. Instead, he gracefully put the dessert into his mouth and chewed it carefully for a while before speaking:

"I just think that if people like him really continue to rise, the world government may not be able to suppress them."

"That's even more interesting." Morgans said softly, his tone full of excitement. "A piece of news that can shake the world is simply a gift from God."

The two stopped talking, but their eyes fell on the other end of the palace at the same time, as if they saw the distant battlefield and the rising figure of Jin'an through the figures of the kings and the celestial dragons.

After a moment, Morganus tapped the table lightly with his wings and whispered to himself:

"It seems like I should take action. This is such a big game, and I can't miss out on my share."

Stussy smiled slightly, with a hint of deep meaning in his eyes:

“Perhaps, we still have a chance to cooperate.”

Morganse glanced at her and smiled meaningfully:

"That depends on how sincere you are prepared to be."

The two men laughed quietly, but beneath the calm surface, they hid their own calculations and plans, as if this grand ceremony was just a prelude to the storm that was about to break out.
