He had realized that the strength of this young man was not only reflected in his physique, but also in his fearless attitude towards challenges. Turning around, Thorild smiled slightly and tapped the metal staff in his hand lightly on the ground. The staff instantly made a buzzing sound, and a flash of light floated in the air.
"Gerlin, are you ready for greater challenges?" Torild asked in a low and magnetic voice.
"Torield, I have been waiting for this moment." Gerlin said firmly, his eyes gleaming with fighting spirit. He walked to the side of Torild, his back straight, and he seemed to have no fear at all. "No matter what lies ahead, I will do my best."
"I know you are determined." Thorild nodded with satisfaction, "But the opponent we are facing this time is not simple. Gerlin, you must always be vigilant."
"You mean the cruel orcs? They only care about blood and flesh." Gerlin clenched his fists, not hiding his anger. "I want to avenge my hometown."
"Anger is our motivation when facing the enemy, but we must be careful, anger can also become a deadly trap." Thorild whispered, with a hint of vigilance in his eyes. "Don't let emotions take away your reason, this is the rule of battle."
"I understand." Gerlin took a deep breath, his eyes firm and steady. "Rather than letting them dominate the situation, I would like to guide the direction of the battle."
"Very good," Thorild nodded with satisfaction, "We must use every opportunity wisely. The metal staff is not just a weapon, it can enhance our strength and also bring us unexpected effects."
"I have already felt that power." Gerlin gripped the short staff tightly, and touched the pattern on it with his fingertips, as if communicating with it silently. "As long as I use it well, I can change the situation of the battle."
"Remember, every swing of the short staff requires caution. I will be by your side to assist you." Thorild's tone became more serious. "Even courage needs wisdom to guide it."
"Okay, Thorild." Gerlin's expression became more serious. "I will keep your teachings in mind."
As the two people's conversation deepened, the light outside the window became dimmer and dark clouds began to gather, as if foreshadowing the upcoming battle. Torild took out a few ancient maps from his backpack, unfolded them on the table, and pointed to a mark.
"Sneaking into the enemy camp from this position will catch them off guard when they are most relaxed." He raised his head slightly, his eyes sparkling, "I will be responsible for guiding you and ensure that everything goes smoothly."
"Is this route feasible?" Gerling carefully examined the map. "Will the enemy set up an unexpected ambush?"
"Normally there are some traps, but from my observation, the patrols today seem to be more relaxed than usual." Thorild ran his fingers lightly over the terrain, his voice low and steady, "That's why we have to strike quickly."
"So when do we set off?" Gerling's eyes flashed with anticipation and nervousness.
"Tonight, the later the better. The enemy will relax their vigilance in the dead of night." Thorild confirmed again, "We must make sure all preparations are in place."
"Okay, I will train well in advance to ensure that I can perfectly master the power of the short staff." Gerlin nodded firmly, "Please rest assured."
"I believe in you, Gerlin." Thorild smiled slightly, "However, your confidence and skills need to be constantly honed."
Time flies, and night falls quietly. Thorild and Gerlin walk out of their residence smoothly. Under the moonlight, the two figures walk side by side towards the unknown. The air is filled with the fresh smell of soil, and the croaking of frogs and the whisper of breeze can be heard from time to time in the grass.
"Torield, do you think this road is really okay?" Gerlin's voice broke the silence of the night, "I feel a little uneasy."
"Every road is full of challenges. What matters is whether we are prepared." Thorild looked ahead intently. "Remember, when we walk out of this road, you will be a different Gerling."
The night ahead was getting darker and dark shadows flashed from time to time, causing the two to speed up their pace. At this moment, Gerlin suddenly stopped, turned his head, and whispered, "There is a light spot over there."
"That's the enemy's bonfire." Thorild's expression suddenly became serious, and he whispered, "Relax and don't reveal your identity."
The two of them quickly lay on the grass and watched carefully. Beside the campfire, several orcs were playing and reeking of alcohol, and were obviously drunk.
"We'll go around them from behind," Torid whispered, his face extremely serious. Gerlin nodded, held his breath, and moved slowly along the bushes.
"If we can get through them quietly, our chances of success will increase greatly." Torid's voice was like a whisper in his ear.
"I understand, but if I am discovered, how should I use the short staff?" Gerlin was nervous and his tone became hesitant.
"Don't be hasty to act. Try to solve the problem with wisdom." Thorild held the short staff tightly. "Follow my steps. We must find an opportunity to act again."
The atmosphere in the area became increasingly tense. Gerlin was secretly delighted, as if he saw the dawn of hope. His heartbeat became faster and faster, and he kept thinking back to Thorild's teachings. The two of them quickly passed through the bushes and approached the campfire cautiously.
"It's almost there." Thorild said softly, his eyes sharp as a knife. He recited silently in his heart, waiting for that moment to come.
A few steps away, Gerlin's palms began to sweat. He knew that the next second might be a matter of life and death. When they were about to get close, a naughty wind suddenly blew, driving the surrounding leaves. In an instant, the orcs noticed the movement and raised their heads.
"Who is it!" an orc yelled wildly, and then the whole place fell into chaos.
"Hurry!" Thorild pushed Gerlin hard and pointed to a hidden place on the side, "Now!"
Gerlin's heart tightened, and he rushed towards the darkness without stopping, and in a flash he met up with Torild.
"We must act fast!" Chaotic roars continued to be heard, and the orcs were searching everywhere.
"First, use the power of the short staff to create some chaos." Thorild calmly analyzed the situation, "Then we will look for a second route."
"Okay." Gerlin nodded slightly, took a deep breath, and adjusted his mindset. A force lingered in the short staff in his hand, and he silently used his internal strength to prepare to release the special ability of the short staff.
