The Princess' Rebirth and Revenge

Chapter 232: The Final Break

The spring sunshine gently sprinkles on the glazed tiles of Jingming Temple, as if coating this ancient temple with a thin layer of golden light. Outside the temple, peach and apricot blossoms bloom in pink and white, covering this peaceful land like a veil. When the breeze blows, the petals dance with the wind, bringing waves of elegant fragrance, which is refreshing.

However, in this picturesque spring scene, there is one person whose mood is out of tune with the bright spring light. Xie Fei stood on the path beside the temple, looking through the flowers, as if looking for something, but her eyes were full of confusion and melancholy. She was wearing a light blue dress, and her sleeves swayed gently in the wind, like a lonely lily in the wind.

"Why does this beautiful spring scenery make me feel so chilled?" Xie Fei whispered to herself, with a barely perceptible bitterness in her tone. Her heart was full of entanglements, which came from the complex and delicate relationship between her and Qiu Yu. She once thought that after going through so many ups and downs, they could finally spend the rest of their lives together, but reality always seemed to be playing tricks on her.

Just then, a familiar voice sounded behind her: "Xeffy, what are you doing here?"

Xie Fei turned around and saw Zuo Yun standing behind her, with a look of scrutiny and vigilance in his eyes. Zuo Yun was dressed in black and had a stern face, which was out of tune with the warmth of this spring day.

"I... I just came to relax." Xie Fei forced a smile, but her eyes betrayed her true feelings.

"Relax? Humph, I think you are here to look for Qiuyu?" Zuo Yun sneered, his tone full of disdain, "I advise you to give up, Qiuyu is not someone you can get involved in. His great cause requires his full attention, and you will only become a burden to him."

"A burden?" Xie Fei felt a pang of pain in her heart when she heard this. "Do you think Qiu Yu thinks the same way? He once said that no matter what happens, he will be by my side to protect me. Have you forgotten all these words?"

"That was in the past." Zuo Yun interrupted her coldly, "Qiu Yu is no longer the boy who was only impulsive because of feelings. He has bigger goals and bigger responsibilities. And you will only distract him."

"Distracted? Or are you afraid that I will reveal your true face?" Xie Fei widened her eyes and glared at Zuo Yun. "You have been using Qiu Yu all along, using whatever means necessary to achieve your goals. Do you think I don't know?"

"Whatever you think." Zuo Yun shrugged and turned to leave, "But I just hope you can understand that for Qiu Yu's cause, you'd better stay away from him."

Looking at Zuo Yun's departing back, Xie Fei's heart was filled with helplessness and sadness. She didn't know whether the relationship between her and Qiu Yu had really come to an end.

Just when Xie Fei was immersed in endless entanglement and pain, Qiu Yu met her in an unexpected occasion. It was a sunny afternoon, and the sun shone through the sparse clouds and sprinkled on a busy street in Luoyang City. Qiu Yu was wearing a white robe and a long sword on his waist, looking heroic. His eyes swept through the crowd and finally fixed on the familiar figure.

"Xie Fei..." Qiu Yu called in a low voice, with an indescribable emotion in his heart. He walked quickly to Xie Fei, wanting to reach out and hold her hand, but he withdrew his hand in hesitation.

Xie Fei raised her head and saw Qiu Yu's familiar yet unfamiliar face. A hint of surprise flashed across her eyes, but was immediately replaced by pain. "Qiu Yu, you... why are you here?"

"I came to see you." Qiu Yu's voice was low and firm. "I know what Zuo Yun said to you, and I also know how you feel now. But I hope you can believe me. Everything I do is for our future."

"The future?" Xie Fei smiled bitterly. "What else can our future be? You have already chosen your great cause, and I am just a passer-by in your life."

"That's not the case." Qiu Yu shook her head, a trace of pain flashed in her eyes, "I have never treated you as a passerby. Do you know? When I defeated Li Cun Leng, all I thought about was you. I wanted to create a better world for you, a world without war and killing."

"But you have changed." Tears fell from Xie Fei's eyes. "You are no longer the Qiuyu who was willing to give up everything for me. Now you only have your great cause and your oath in your heart."

"Oath..." Qiu Yu was silent for a while after hearing this, then slowly raised her head, "Yes, I have my oath. I swear to never repeat Li Cun Leng's mistakes, and I swear to protect this world from the ravages of war. But this does not mean that I will give up on you."

"But Zuo Yun said..."

"You don't have to believe what Zuo Yun said." Qiu Yu interrupted Xie Fei, "He is just using me to achieve his goals. And I was once deceived by his lies. But now I understand that what really matters is you and our feelings."
