Li Xueyue stared at him as he confidently stroked the profile of her face, his fingers rough but gentle.

"You don't deserve to see it."

He paused, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Why not?"

"I..." Li Xueyue hesitated. She didn't know why.

Yu Zhen's smile became cunning and naughty. He took a bold step forward, and when he saw that she didn't take another step back, he put his hand on her waist.

“Is this also a planned move?”

A look of shock flashed across Li Xueyue's eyes.

"You are testing me."

She tried to push him away, but he took another step toward her until they were too close to not be intimidated.

"What are you doing?" She hissed, aware of many eyes watching her. "Are you trying to frame me? What's wrong with you men? You're so sensitive."

Yu Zhen chuckled, his chest rumbling softly. The light in his eyes danced in the light of the lantern, catching her curious gaze. "Perhaps you brought this trait to us."

"Don't try to put the blame on me."

Yu Zhen laughed when he saw her scolding him so quickly. Would she get tired of such a lively character? It was funny. Her reaction made him want to bully her even more.

"I'm just pointing out a fact."

“No one asked you to do this.”

“Oh, but you did.”

"That's a rhetorical question."

Yu Zhen sneered: "I'm sure it is."

He tucked her baby hairs behind her ear with one finger, and his smile widened as she revealed more of her pale cheek. His attention was solely on her, but she was not giving him her full attention. She was staring worriedly at something over his shoulder.

Wen Jinkai was surrounded by women. He was silent and thoughtful, but he did not reject the advances of these rich girls who fawned on him. Commander this, commander that, they all loved him deeply, and they were willing to endure his silence as long as they could be close to him.

Li Xueyue screamed and struggled in his arms, hating his increasingly outrageous actions.

"Has anyone ever told you that your face is an open book?" Yu Zhen just hugged her tighter and panted, "You are so young, but there is so much despair in your eyes."

Li Xueyue despised his accuracy. “I hate men like you.”

Yu Zhen's smile changed from admiration to understanding. "I know you are like this, Yangguang."

"Then why are you still holding me? Let me go, you damned beast."

"But I don't want to." Yu Zhen pouted at her slightly, his chin resting on the top of her head. "Everyone looks at you as if you are easy to approach."

"I'm."

She could feel the violent rumble in his chest as he laughed. He said to her arrogantly and confidently, "Are you sure?"

"Yes."

Yu Zhen pursed his lips. She answered with a quickened heart, not troubled by the fact that she was completely in the arms of another man. He could forcefully declare that she was unapproachable, and he greedily wanted to take her all for himself.

Not because she was different from the other girls, not because she was "unique" or "special", but because she was a puzzle piece that he wanted to put together.

She was the one his conscience warned him not to interfere with—a girl destined to soar into the sky, but who would lose all her grace if she flew too close to the sun.

He could have left her there and never looked back, he could have returned to Hanjian and lived a happy life without her, but a small part of him knew that was impossible. She had already stolen from him, and he barely knew her. He should have kept going, but he didn't.

He stopped to wait for her, turned his head and winked at her, then disappeared into the crowd.
