Li Xueyue wanted to go home and take a bath with scented oil to calm her nerves. She had had enough of the royal family. It was tiring to be with them, and even more tiring to talk to them in circles.

She sighed softly. Why were they so keen on interfering in her life? Don't they have better things to do?

Li Xueyue watched the maids prepare the step stool for the high carriage. Usually a maid or one of the twins would help her get into the carriage, but Duchess Wang Qixing did not take them with her.

The guards were not allowed to touch them, but they didn’t dare to either. Therefore, the step stools were always brought in advance. Usually, enclosed carriages like theirs were equipped with step stools, but Duchess Wang Qixing said that this ruined the beauty of the elaborate rides.

"Any little trouble over there?"

Li Xueyue examined the flowing ribbons tied around her body. She tightened a few of them, and when they flew as she wished, she sighed secretly.

"Are you ignoring me?"

She hummed a quiet song and swayed gently in the breeze, combing her hair and grasping her soft ribbons. It was a pity that her beautiful afternoon with the royal family was ruined.

The wind was calm and soothing under the hot sun. Suddenly, a stronger force tugged at the ribbons that closed her hanfu. One last pull and her belt would slip off. She gasped as her ribbons were yanked roughly again, and her hands instantly flew to her waist.

"You bastard!" she hissed, turning around to see his smiling face.

"It's not my fault." He showed her his fist. She noticed that on his middle finger was a white gold metal ring, with a sparkling emerald comfortably set in the center. The workmanship was excellent - perfect metalwork that made the ring look fierce but regal at the same time.

"Your ribbon is tangled in my ring." Yu Zhen stared at him and her smile widened.

"liar."

"Why else would I pull the ribbon?"

"Because you lack morals."

"Like I lack manners?"

"Yes."

Yu Zhen listened to her words and chuckled. When will she stop stabbing him with words like a knife? Does she realize how lively and lovely she is? It's because her eyes are on fire, and every word she says adds fuel to the fire. Under the gorgeous sunshine, nothing is more dazzling than her.

"what's so funny?"

"Your face," he deadpanned, earning a sharp gasp from her. She poked at his chest but he didn't move, and she dusted her hands off.

"What are you doing?" he asked.

"Dust off the germs I picked up from you."

"The word 'contract' is used incorrectly." Yu Zhen snorted. "Besides, I should have cleaned it up myself. Who knows where your hands went?"

He dramatically pulled out his handkerchief and gently opened it, outdoing her.

"Water," he said, and one of his companions finally caught up with him, uncapped the bottle, and poured the water onto the handkerchief.

To Li Xueyue's irritation, he cleaned his chest and didn't care that there was now a wet spot. He tried to remain calm as she crossed her arms, rolled her eyes and scoffed.

"Is it necessary--" He raised a hand suddenly to stop her complaints.

Yu Zhen turned to Hu Dengxiao and ordered, "I suggest you put on gloves and burn them."

Hu Dengxiao blinked quickly, his eyes turning from the woman to his commander. He put on his gloves awkwardly and hesitantly.

Yu Zhen was only joking, but his idiot military advisor took it a step further and screamed when the handkerchief was suddenly thrown in his direction.

“Ugh!” Hu Dengxiao jumped up in disgust.

"Deng Xiao——"

"Commander, your germs are on it." Hu Dengxiao said bitterly, causing Yu Zhen to stop immediately.

What did this idiot just say?

"Puff!" Li Xueyue finally smiled, and her eyes turned into little crescents.

She unknowingly caused Yu Zhen's heartbeat to speed up, who was stunned by the strange voice. He had never heard her laugh before, but then again, he barely knew her.

"This is what happens when you act like a fool." Li Xueyue stuck out her tongue and turned to face the step stool. She was about to walk forward alone, but she found that she had a helper beside her.

She paused as he held out his hand to her. She looked at his hand suspiciously, examining it. Was he hiding a needle between his fingers?

"It seems this proper lady doesn't know the etiquette of her solemn reprimand to me," Yu Zhen snorted, annoyed that she hesitated to touch him.

Li Xueyue narrowed her eyes, and her competitive spirit to refute emerged.

"To clear up your confusion, Princess, you should place your hand on mine as I guide you to the carriage."

"I know what to do!" Li Xueyue snorted.

"It seems not," Yu Zhen said provocatively, and reached his hand out to her again. When she rudely clapped her hand down and accepted his offer, he smiled with satisfaction. He took her hand with his fingers and pressed a kiss to her palm, which surprised her.

"I hope to see you again soon, Princess."

For a moment, her stomach fluttered nervously, unwillingly. "I hope I never see you again, Yuzhen."

His smile spread for her, reaching his wary eyes, softening them. "Let this wish never come true."

"I'll do my best to pray that this happens." Duchess Wang Qixing joked as she walked down the stairs, out of the front door, and into the carriage. Her curious eyes moved from the two cold sword warriors to the confused commander.

Oh my goodness.

Did she match Xueyue with the wrong man? Even the cold Wen Jinkai wasn't that obsessed when he was with Xueyue, but then again, the man barely showed any emotion on his face. He always stared into the distance, as if everything bothered him. The only time his cold expression melted, even just a little, was for Xueyue.

The only problem is that Duchess Wang Qixing has a hard time trusting him, especially when he and Li Minghua used to know each other.
