"Are you sure you don't want to quit the competition? It doesn't matter if others gossip about you." Li Wenmin said solemnly, leaning close to her near her tent. Due to the cold weather, the room was cleaned and a few pieces of furniture were added. On the chairs were piled small gifts from potential suitors, neatly wrapped.

"If they gossip, they'll lose their tongues," a cold voice growled from behind them.

Xueyue froze at the man's familiar voice. Her fingers nervously reached for the pendant, fiddling with the small white tassel hanging from it.

She didn't realize it was a force of habit, this man always made her feel uneasy.

"Oh, Commander Wen." Duchess Li Qixing hid her smile behind her long sleeves. She glanced at Xueyue secretly, but Xueyue did not turn around to meet his fierce gaze.

"What a surprise so early in the morning." Xueyue raised her head, and Duchess Li Qixing's smile became brighter, as if the commander-in-chief of this country was not staring at her. From beginning to end, his eyes never left her. He was fascinated by her, and everyone could see it.

"You just ruined my morning." Li Chenyang complained in a low voice, and when Commander Wen Jinkai glared at him fiercely, he looked away.

Wen Jinkai had no idea why he was here. One minute he was handing his horse over to the stable boy, and the next minute he spotted a "young deer" that caught his attention.

He blinked, and strangely, he found himself standing behind Xueyue. What was he going to do now that he was here? She wouldn't even look at him. The conversation from the previous day filled his mind, and he tossed and turned all night, unable to sleep.

"Commander, do you want to have morning tea together? I made a cup of tea specially for today." Duchess Li Qixing said enthusiastically, with a hand on his shoulder, and his eyes never left Xueyue. Couldn't he be more obvious?

“Xueyue, what do you think about this?” Duchess Li Qixing laughed when Xueyue mentioned her name. The latter turned around slowly, her eyes opened a little wider than usual.

Xueyue forced herself not to look at the commander, but it was an extremely difficult task. His face always forced others to take a second look. From his sharp jaw to his terrifying eyes, there was so much to be amazed about him. She was afraid that if she stole a glance, she would never look away.

"I..." Xueyue trailed off, her eyes involuntarily moving to him, instantly falling into the depths of his eyes. They were the colors of a starless sky, lost hope, and endless darkness. It was stunningly beautiful in the most chaotic way. His cold eyes instantly melted for her, softening as she swallowed.

"If this is your wish, mother, then I don't mind." Xueyue concluded, with a barely perceptible smile on her lips.

Wen Jinkai smiled slightly, combing the hair around her eyes with twitching fingers. Like the fallen leaves in autumn, staring at it, there is a sense of tranquility.

His gaze moved from her eyes to her face, then to her hand as she fiddled with the pendant. His eyes narrowed. It was pale blue and emerald green, beautiful, but most importantly, it had her name on it. Nothing like that.

Xueyue's hand immediately covered the pendant and she cleared her throat, forcing him to look up. She did not flinch under his fiery glare. She knew he wanted her to wear his pendant. She raised her chin, challenging him and his authority.

"So, are we going to stand here forever, or are we going to go into the tent?" King Li Chenyang chuckled and led his wife into the tent, with the twins following behind him.

Xueyue hadn't heard her father's words until one of the twins grabbed her elbow and pulled her in, keeping her eyes locked on the commander. He stood behind her, and when he pressed a finger to her chin, she turned her head and began to walk forward.

Her eyes widened when she felt a touch on her waist. She thought it was just her imagination, but it quickly passed. Then, the same thing happened again: a gentle squeeze on her buttocks, followed by a firm tug. She noticed his actions this time, but could not question them, because immediately, the Duchess spoke.

"Oh my god, this is so strange. What happened to my special blend of tea?" Duchess Li Qixing frowned, looking for a special hand-painted box. Not finding it, she glanced at the servants in confusion. One of them should have brought it with him.

"I think we have enough tea. You don't need to make tea, dear." While his wife frowned, King Li Chenyang smiled. He noticed the small gifts from potential suitors and waved his servants to throw them away. Humph, if you want to pursue Xueyue, you must at least have the courage to show it.

"Don't you like my special tea?"

'I hate it. They taste like death and old age,' he thought to himself, then laughed and denied, 'What? No... of course not! '

"Great." Princess Li Qixing clapped her hands and smiled. "Then I hope you can finish the whole pot." She called the maid Jin Xia over, and the middle-aged woman took a smaller box.

"I thought you would tell the servants not to bring it, so I asked my maid to bring it." Duchess Li Qixing called the servants to start making arrangements.

Li Chenyanggong's smile faded, and he cried in his heart. She was going to torture him with her worst mixture today.

Duchess Lee Chil-sing shrugged, “It’s too bad you asked them not to take the first one. This is one of those special blends you really like.”

Duchess Lee Chil-sung feigned a sigh. "Oh, well, I guess it's time you tried one of my healthier teas." She faced him with a wicked grin. "It's bitter and sour."

King Li Chenyang forced a smile for her: "Let's drink together——"

"Oh, no, no. This is made especially for you, to improve your health. You drink the whole pot yourself."

At this moment, the commander's body tensed. He watched the tent from outside, standing guard - even though he didn't have to. It was a force of habit he couldn't break.

Someone was watching him from a distance, and that face was not friendly.
